I'm curious what software you have with your X-Carve? I just got one, and am learning how to use it. I bought V Carve Desktop, and must say I am not impressed with it. For 350 dollars, you can do no 3-D modelling with it (except for canned clipart) and it won't generate toolpaths for small bits (less than 1/8 inch) to give fine detail to your carvings. I am guessing they want to goad you into buying the VCarve Pro for another 350 dollars. But it makes me wonder what THAT version left out, trying to get you to buy Aspire for two grand.

I would work with the desktop version at first to get use to the program and your xcarve . But if 3d carving is your ultimate goal. Then you will need to upgrade to aspire. Vetrics is the best program with the easest to use functions that I have found. A bit tip. Look in to the mini Jenny and regular Jenny bits. Great compression bits made from a small business.
