Accounting is only boring if you don’t understand the utility of it - the problem with Universities is they don’t actually teach you why these skills are useful. Want to know how to pick companies to invest in? Accounting is essential to this. Want to audit companies to stop them from using dodgy account practices? Accounting is essential for this.
Idk what school your from but every lesson in accounting already has utility and in no way should the professor even need to tell you the common sense on what we are learning. Your topic for today is mortgage, employee benefits? Bonds? ? The utility explanation of it doesn't need to be spoon fed. It's legit self explanatory. Imagine wasting 1 hour talking about how the accounts receivable account works and why it's important
@@lordlopikong6940 I’m glad you were born with an exhaustive knowledge of the practical applications of accounting but the rest of us plebs unfortunately were not. As a university lecturer your job is not just regurgitating information from textbooks, your jobs is to convey complex topics from text books I.e. what are DTLs and DTAs, in simple and easy to understand BUT ALSO TO INSPIRE YOUR CLASS TO WANT TO LEARN by teaching your students how what they learn can be applied. How arrogant to think your job finishes at telling the students what the information is.
@@lordlopikong6940 exactly lol
Accounting is often overlooked as a crucial aspect of running a business, but it is actually the foundation that keeps everything in order. Whether you are an individual or business investor, accounting, economics, and finance are all closely related and accountants have the expertise to understand the bigger picture of a business from an investment perspective. They play a vital role in evaluating market segments, helping clients save money on taxes, and determining the best location for a business. It is unfortunate that many people with an accounting degree are unaware of the diverse opportunities it offers, such as working in criminology or the FBI. Personally, I have a business mindset and my mother, a small business owner, has inspired me to pursue accounting to combine my entrepreneurial dreams with understanding the dynamics of money.
A lack of proper accounting practices is a significant factor in the failure of many ( 99%) businesses. This also applies to personal finances, as our spending habits and financial decisions are influenced by accounting principles. From major purchases like buying a car to small expenses like paying overdraft fees, understanding accounting helps us make informed choices. As someone studying accounting, I am grateful for the financial literacy it brings. Now, I question every dollar I spend to ensure it is a wise investment.
They actually do teach this, but only after you take up the course and then they break it down for you.
Before tht you would probably have no idea unless you took accounting in high school
I heard with an accounting degree you can pretty much get any business related job but those other majors are limited.
I have also heard that as well.
I'm an accountant. It's true!!!
the probability of an accountant being a good economist is greater than that of an economist being a good accountant
Accounting is a hard skill that allows you to understand how business performance and business’ financial positions are calculated. Finance also teaches formulas to calculate this but the inputs it uses come from accounting. At the end of the day, theory taught in finance and economics is great for knowing how the world works, but accounting will teach you the hard skills to do the day to day jobs that financial institutions will want you to do.
That is why I chose accounting. My friend studied accounting and she is working as business analyst. She was an accountant before and she got MBA after all. I am doing the same then get certification in Supply chain management of

Currently in college for business and this experience is so true. Ended up going the general route rather than the accounting focus for my second semester. First semester accounting classes killed my interest for the field so I opted to see what I get out of the non-accounting focused route.
I don't recommend econ it's too theoretical, hardly company is hiring an "economist" so the most linear pathline is getting a masters and going back into teaching which takes years and years and you're stuck working at universities.
I love my degree and i contiuously struggle to find the boredom. Work is work, and compared to every other job ive ever had, accounting is fire

Repent of your sins and turn to Jesus Christ for he died for all of us while we were still sinners. He is coming back soon.
Good video! I went to school for economics and currently work as an accounting analyst. If you’re unsure of where to go for college, just go for accounting. Most businesses prefer accountants over finance and Econ degrees simply because accountants deal with what happened to money directly while finance and Econ deals what they should do with their money. Confirming payments takes priority over projections. As an accountant, you’ll be doing plenty of pivot tables and projections regardless. All 3 majors can do what the others do, but accountants just make things easier for talent acquisition so I would just stick with an accounting degree. However, if you’re really motivated and good with networking, then the degree won’t even matter
economics is fun? sure accounting seems boring at times, but economics is fun? that's where yall get spice?

I’m sorry, but economics?
Obtaining an economics degree serves as a means to make a favorable impression. It acts as an additional advantage, much like icing on a cake. It is advisable to pursue a bachelor's degree in fields such as finance, insurance, accounting, or business administration, and subsequently pursue a master's degree in economics to enhance your professional prospects. Just getting a bachelor’s degree can be comparable to a history degree. It sounds interesting and cool, but it won’t really get you anywhere. It’s just icing on the cake.
thats really interesting
Employers love economics majors. Just don't expect a specific job title or having multiple offers from firms chasing you down like an accounting major. Econ majors have to be flexible and adaptable to what's out there. Accounting leads to being an accountant (usually). Econ major does not lead to being an economist (unless PHD). Multinational companies, gov agencies, non-profits, NGO's hire econ majors. They are more quantitative in nature than accounting and are closer to being a history degree than accounting as well.
Don't get a degree (especially a masters degree) unless you absolutely know what you're doing and you absolutely know it's in demand.
I disagree . Economics has evolved with different specializations to choose from. Bsc in Economics and finance is very marketable

Fact No 1 .
Accounting is also one of the hardest major from the school of Bussiness and commerce!
I sense a challenge....CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!
When it comes to salary and job stability: MIS/Finance/Accounting > Business Admin > Marketing/Economics/Human Resource.
MIS, Finance, Accounting teaches you more actual technical skills than the other majors.
Bus Admin also teaches you technical skills but it can be a bit too broad because you are not expected to learn everything in-depth for undergrad.
Econ may make you look more intelligent on resume but it's essentially quite useless.
You don’t need to go to school to learn Marketing and Human Resource.
I feel that way too. Most jobs in the business world require technical skills, licenses or certifications. Economics is lacking in those three
What if I do business admin at a community college and then transfer to a state school like UCR and then do a concentration of MIS or Finance or Accouning or Operation and Info systems or Supply Chain or Business analytics
how illiterate you are to say that you don't need to go to school to learn Marketing...

Supply chain management best one
Why? Best out of all the business majors ? Can u explain more
