I've noticed it when people lack conviction in there thoughts. I've seen it aligns with holding left leaning political views.

From what I gather, the overuse of the word "like" seems to be most prevalent among females aged 13 to 30. Males not as much, and people up in my age range (the dreaded 50-plus!) almost non-existent.
