Things are back to normal at school: Flash throws something watery at Peter and locks him in his locker while he makes jokes about Flash's intelligence. Peter doesn't show off his abilities, of course. He and May visit Uncle Ben's grave a couple times a week, and Peter continues to work at Bugle selling high-end photos of his alter ego. Speaking of alter egos. Spider-Man's doing well. but it could be better. The Daily Bugle's very own Jay Jonah Jameson is venting bile in the direction of his friendly neighbor and Jonah already has some supporters. But they're not overtaking the fans in numbers, Spidey has managed to get some love as well. Also, Peter keeps hitting on Betty Brant, though not obsessively. Meanwhile, an explosive duo appears in town: Shocker and Chameleon. Chameleon acts as the brains of the team, while Shocker is the strike force. Their tactic is that Shocker robs banks, and Chameleon is attached to a certain person with the help of his "magic" reincarnation, so that the chosen victim and set up. But one day Dmitriy wanted to rip off a bigger score and go for a bigger fish, one of the richest investors in the city. The plan was as good as ever, but the two didn't even know about Spider-Man. In an attempt to frame Roderick Kingsley, Shocker fails and there's a fight in the bank, whereupon part of the ceiling falls on Parker. But after a couple minutes, he gets out and tracks them down. Peter catches them both wearing masks and there's a dialog: - Look, you're a Chameleon, it's obvious why. You've got the powers to match. I'm Spider-Man, the costume speaks for itself and I can weave webs. And you, dearie, what's your favorite animal? - The one that destroys insects. - If you wanted to look like a rodent, at least put on some fur for good measure... Then Chameleon throws a light grenade and after Shocker shoots Spidey, they flee. The police are already looking for them and both blame it on Spider-Man. But Chameleon only goes higher: now he decides to pretend to be Spider-Man. A series of crimes committed by the Spider begins, but Captain Stacy believes that the friendly neighbor is innocent. After a couple of investigations and a confrontation with Shocker, where he simply ran away to maintain authenticity, the captain and Spider track down the villains on a yacht and capture them. Chameleon manages to escape, but Shocker is apprehended. There is a dialog between the Captain and the Spider where George tells the Spider that he is a Spider, but first and foremost a human being and there will always be those who are dissatisfied with him, as well as those who are satisfied. The latter can lead to god sindrome, while the former can discourage heroic activity. George himself expressed his deepest respect. Peter remembers that he was late for his date with Betty and she blows him off, but without negativity. Peter realizes it's time to commit to Peter Parker, and Chameleon hides under the umbrella of a new identity hinting at an exciting sequel! P.S. Peter will be courting Betty between scenes, and Chameleon will commit some murders. There will be a lot of mutual interaction between the police and Spider in the season, where the latter sometimes thinks smarter than many experienced guys. Spidey in the season is much bigger than Peter, Chameleon behaves like a genius maniac, and Shocker is inspired by a version of the character from Spectacular Spider-Man.
