I Started breeding Exotic Birds as a hobby! I never thought that I would be a successful bird farmer

  • I never thought that I would be a successful bird farmer, but surprisingly enough, it turns out that the hobby is incredibly rewarding. In this blog post, I will share with you some of the secrets that have helped me to achieve success.
So to start off, the first thing I did was to make a list of birds that I wanted to raise. This included some tropical species like canaries and finches as well as some native birds such as chickens and ducks. Birds are diverse so it is vital that you do your research before you commit to raising them to make sure they are suitable for your climate and lifestyle. It is also important to consider how large the birds will get when they mature as you don’t want something that is going to be too difficult to care for once they reach adulthood. Once you have decided on the type of birds that you want to grow, you can start to research the best type of housing for them. There are many different options available including outdoor pens, indoor cages and even mobile chicken houses that you can move around your property to find the best location for the bird's needs. You will also need to make sure that they have access to food and water as well as a comfortable area where they can sleep and lay their eggs. Finding a suitable location for your birds can be a challenge but once you have it worked out, it will be much easier to keep them healthy and happy.
Another vital part of caring for your birds is making sure that they are healthy and well looked after. It is important that you take regular trips to your vet to ensure that they are not suffering from any diseases and that they are receiving the necessary treatment to keep them in top condition. It is also important to watch their behaviour closely to make sure that everything is normal and there are no problems that need to be dealt with quickly before they get out of hand. Keeping a close eye on the health of your flock will help you to spot any problems at an early stage so that you can deal with them before they become more serious.

Wood chewing is natural for those birds. It keeps the beaks trimmed and aligned and that is better than having to catch birds to fix beak problems. They are not chewing wood to destroy the cage, but are thanking you for giving the opportunity to do what they would do in the wild. Disturbing them to fix a few wood is better than disturbing to trim beaks and claws. Sometimes the beak overgrowth is so minor, we cannot notice it but will still affect them. I know this from experience.

I'm from Louisiana Dexter, and I use to breed Parakeets and Finches. I love watching your videos and really miss breeding my birds but life had other plans for me so I had to give it up. But maybe one day I will get back into it. Keep up the good work on all that you do. I really enjoy watching. Thanks!

Wonderful, my friend, you have beautiful birds, they are wonderful, but they require more attention. I have 20 budgies, and I find it difficult to raise them. I live in a small city in Morocco, and I do not have good and suitable food for these birds. I offer them one kind and give them home meals with vegetables and fruits. I wish I had a garden like you, my friend. Thank you Enjoy with you and your beautiful birds ❤️➡️👍🎁💐💐💐💐❤️

Your birds look beautiful 😍 You need to offer them things to chew because it is necessary for them for the beak to stay trimmed. The same as we need to cut our nails, they need natural wood perches for their nails, too.
I think the adults need to be separated from parents and babies to prevent the babies from being harmed.

They will not "eat" the cage any more if u give them (a stone), i don't know the name of that stone. The parrot's beak is growing and that's why they nibble on everything. If they have nothing to nibble on, their beaks will grow so big that they won't be able to eat anything.

Just use natural trees as perches you can replace them every couple of months, it's also better for birds to have different diameter perches it helps their feet not to be holding something the same width all the time

Hey dexter ive been watching your videos, and i saw a big mistake you did with lovebirds, in your cage i see 2 types of lovebirds mixed and paired with one another, it is about (fischer agapornis) and (personata agapornis) and you should not mix these species. I'm not condemning it, I'm just writing you a warning because the hybrides are ruining the beauty of these species. If you dont believe what i'm saying you can chek that what im telling is really true. As for the rest, I really appreciate everything you do, you seem like a very nice person. Sending you reagrds!

Sir Dexter, how bout using fiber glass,I think it's better than using galvanized metal.and bout ur whining new birds,I think it's better to remove them early from their parents n put them in separate cages and so that it won't make you the hard time catching them one by one,and it won't affect their daily routine, especially for the breeder birds and also won't affect the growth for the chicks.just saying😊☺️🤓 take care every one n God bless to All.

I tend to agree that the birds are too young for gendering (unless there is a cloacal inspection). The bigger one is just older and not necessarily male. In most color cockatiels, the males will have a yellowish/white face and the females grey.
