It comes from the greek word ekklesia, which means an assembly of those called out. Called out from where? From the world. I know you are quoting from 1 Cor 6:19 Which says that your bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit. A temple is something different from the church and what Pail says here is deeper than what you might have understood him to say. Paul will severally say that the church is the body of Christ and we are parts his body. There is no body formed by one part so you alone cannot be the church.

I live in Europe, France. Yes the church here is dying. They are more of tourist attractions for the architecture rather than places of worship. Getting 50 people in a whole cathedral is huge turn up and foreigners attend services much more than the natives. These are things I talk about in myspace @AfroVazi, life in Europe, the ins and outs.

Churches might be businesses. I agree. But the catholic church has done more than 80% of what governments are supposed to be doing in the world. Schools, shelters, orphanages, insurance, hospitals, food centers, relief centers, mental institutions, etc. A lot. In fact even the Kenyan Athletics was pioneered and started by a catholic brother, and fully funded by the church with no returns, to support talent and awaken women in society. Some of us would have starved or never went to school if not for the church. And yet most people abandoned that for miracles and false hope, that was the beginning of the end of an era, and dawn of a doomed society.
