    I’m more curious about trying On’s new Cloudflow 4 I think. I tend to like lower stack shoes for the most part. But the Eclipse is definitely good looking - digging the natural dyes they’re using.

    Hi Emily. I look forward to trying out this new shoe from On. I agree with you about the Cloud Monster being too firm of a shoe for running. I ran in it maybe six times and while it didn't feel bad it was no where near the cushioning I would expect from a max cushion shoe like the Nike Zoom X Invincible of the NB Fresh Foam More X V4. However, The Cloud Monster while it didn't work for me running has turned out to be an excellent walking around, everyday shoe. Even at the end of the day the shoe still feels like I just put it on which is rare to find. The Cloudeclipse is something I'm definitely something I'm looking forward to trying, Congrats again on your marathon PR in NYC. :)

    Oh,!! I did get my dark blue 1080 v13s in and I have no rotation right now. What I mean is they are my favorite shoe even over my SCT V2 maybe I have worn the foam out on them but my thinking is I REALY hope that the New Balance Fresh Foam X More v5s (if they make them) come with the same foam as the 1080 v13 because I will buy every color! I have already ordered 3 more pairs of the 1080 v13 in the marathon colorway the lite blue, and black!

    I had the Cloudmonster for a summer and enjoyed it but didn’t replace it. Fast forward, I now have the Cloudsurfer in my rotation as a versatile short to medium distance shoe (I’ve taken it to 12 mi), it’s nimble as you say and it’s a great recovery shoe. So the Eclipse is intriguing since I generally avoid very high stack shoes due to lack of stability and/or too mushy-soft type midsoles which I dislike. I wish the ON outsoles had the durability of their high quality uppers which for me look brand new pretty much forever. I especially wish for that on a LR shoe which the Eclipse would be for me. Just a thicker rubber application in most runners’ usual spot-rear lateral area-would be great.

    I have been waiting for your review. Been thinking heavily on this vs the puma magnify but been scared because so may talk about the lockdown. I think I'll pull the trigger and buy it. I'm still loving the Nimbus and Ghost Max and since all.my miles are slow and easy this sounds great.

      @ourchannelofthisandthat I decided against it. I am using Asics SuperBlast and Brooks Ghost max.

      As a more fast walker then runner high stack shoes have been what I went for. Up to this eclipse shoe by on I was using hoka Clifton’s 9 shoes and while they felt good from a cushion standpoint they are more narrow in the toe box and to have stayed with hoka I would have had to go with a wide. But the hoka wide in my opinion just look enormous and clunky in a 12 size. When I put the eclipse on right out of the box I knew this was my next shoe. Plenty of room, a true max cushion shoe, better looking to be a lifestyle shoe as well.
      Very comfortable and I’m able to do gym workouts, do 3-5 mile walks/jogs with ease. With the hoka i needed ankle and knee braces and since switching to these on shoes don’t need them. So for a 69 year old who gets out there every day rain or shine on has made me a fan. Thanks for such an ON-point review!

    Hey Emily,
    Do you recommend the cloud eclipse or the SC Trainer v2? Would owning both be redundant? I'm a fairly heavy guy trying to lose weight (190lb) and I usually just run 30min 5ks or ~60min 10ks lol

    I am a health coach and personal trainer interested in starting my own You Tube channel. Do you have any recommendations for video editing software that is compatible with either Android or Apple? I got one recommendation for iMovie, however just thought I would check with you.

    • @RunLikeHeller
      @RunLikeHeller  7 місяців тому

      Hey there! I use Final Cut Pro. It’s compatible with only Apple software. I’ve used a lot of editing softwares (because of my line of work) and I’d say Final Cut is by far the most user friendly. iMovie is great for starting out but there will be limitations to what you can do as you continue on with your UA-cam journey!

    Great review & comparisons to other On sneakers. How would you compare the foam softness to NB 1080v13? (Bought v13 b/c of your review) Appreciate all your reviews 🙏

    • @RunLikeHeller
      @RunLikeHeller  7 місяців тому +1

      1080v13 is going to be MUCH softer than this. If you’re looking for a pillowy soft max cushioned shoe then the Cloudeclipse is probably not your best bet, but it gets the job done in its own way!

    I wish this was that shoe I was hoping for, but I don't think it is they need to make a max cushion shoe without that stiff run board that's what made the cloud surfer so great. !!!!

  • @scott_strool
    @scott_strool 7 місяців тому

    I have a pair of the cloud monsters and I really don't find them that stiff. kind of like the cushion and the pacing that I can do in this shoe

    • @RunLikeHeller
      @RunLikeHeller  7 місяців тому

      That’s fair! We’re all different. I didn’t hate the cloudmonster by any means

  • @levandmarthapolyakin-aaron2183
    @levandmarthapolyakin-aaron2183 7 місяців тому

    That “speedboard” doesn’t really look like much of a speedboard but rather very much like the trussett (not sure what they called it) in the adidas adizero shoes such as the earlier Bostons. Instead of making the shoe stiff in any way, it provided kind of a spring, so more like a mini harbinger of the carbon plate idea.

    Really want to try this shoe but it's too expensive relative to the competition. When you can get the Triumph 20 for $60 or even the SC Trainer v2 for the same price as the On, $180 is just too expensive.

    • @aristodiga82
      @aristodiga82 7 місяців тому

      agree. in the end, consumers will compare prices at the current time, not when all shoes are at full price.

    • @its1027
      @its1027 6 місяців тому

      To be fair, the Triumph 20 is last year's model. Which is the advice I give to most beginning runners - save your money and buy last year's models! A lot of good deals to be found in old stock. So that means I'm looking forward to trying the Cloudeclipse in 2025.

    nike zoom x Invincible run THREE....is the best all-around CUSHIONED runner[recover days] and walker-[everyday-go to]. i think your viewers should hear this from YOU...at least a few times a year. **This should be the standard of reference....the bar to reach etc....when talking BEST all-around cushioned mid-sole. {The 3 should have kept the 1-2 collar padding--then the 3 would be the best over-all comfort/cushioned shoe......dans le monde !!

  • @i.p2088
    @i.p2088 7 місяців тому

    Any energy return from you midsole or just shock absorbing?

  • @wordsovsean8905
    @wordsovsean8905 7 місяців тому

    These just did not work for me. I returned them after 50km. I didn't get the max cushion sensation at all. The pods just collapsed on foot strike so I was left with what felt like a relatively low stack, zero drop shoe. The rocker action was pretty much non-existent because of this. I think the weight of the runner will play a significant role in whether or not these work as intended. I'm 183cm and 73kg, so not overly heavy, nor do I have a low centre of gravity, but in your footage the pods are just compressing a bit and retaining their shape. In my case it was basically two slabs of foam crashing together with each foot strike. I actually would like the foam to be frmer so the pods have more resilliance.
    I'm sort of jealous because I can see how it should work. It just didnt for me. I also liked the upper and had good lockdown. It was very stable too.

    I hope this doesn’t come off disrespectful - can you and the other shoe reviewers stop saying things like “X shoe doesn’t need to exist because this shoe exists”? People have different tastes, and having options isn’t a bad thing. I’m saying that as someone that loves the firmness of the Cloudmonster and wants to see it coexist along this shoe.
