HI my favorite Alabamians. Loved all the stuff and stitching today. Can't wait for Auburn football - 6 weeks. I myself am also terrified of mice - my rottweiler is definitely the "non-sporting" group. She'd let it run right past her and wouldn't do a thing!!

When I was a teenager a mouse ran in our living room I screamed and jumped in a chair The darn mouse jumped into the same chair!!! My brother who is 18 months younger jumped in a chair too, LOL! So much for being a macho guy teen ager.

I was raised in East TN and I’ve got to admit, I never heard of a fly flap! Mama kept a fly swatter and it lived on top of the refrigerator because she had 3 kids and needed to be able to find it! But I laughed and laughed at the story of the mouse. I bet it wished it had never come into your house! You’re right- the Jingle Ball was fantastic. So much fun. And I’m glad Callie’s dog came home. What a weekend. You girls are just too much fun! Glad Kathryn (Needleberry) sent me over here! Hope you had a great Christmas and see you in 2024!
Always a good laugh! Loved the mouse story-we get them every once in a while and catch them with hotdogs in the traps, lol! Glad your doggie came back! My grandma called them fly flaps too!! She was originally from Mississippi.

The mouse story had me in tears!! Growing up in St Joseph, MO, my family had a tiny little ranch house that backed up against a cornfield. This cornfield was a testing field for Boehringer-Ingelheim, a pharmaceutical company. In the fall, they would burn off the field in preparation for the winter. The field mice made a beeline for all the houses on the end of that cut-de-sac looking for shelter… My father coached a Bantam League football team and we had had a barbecue for the team. A few days later, my great aunt came over to see my new brother and brought us hamburgers and fries from this brand-new hamburger place called McDonald’s (this is 1965, mind you). My mom, great aunt, and I sat down in the living room and began to eat. My mom took a bite, and something was wrong… it tasted terrible. Mom looked at my Great Aunt and asked her if there was anything wrong with her burger. My Aunt said no, it was really good, in fact. Mom got up and took her meal into the kitchen. Before she threw it away, she opened the bun… all looked well… smelled just fine, and she tentatively tasted it again. It tasted great! She went back to the living room, to the couch where she was setting. Once again, her burger tasted rancid. My mom and my aunt started investigating, and found a dead mouse under the cushions! Apparently the boys had been wrestling on the couch a few days earlier, and had accidentally squashed a mouse under the cushions!! I do not remember specifics of this incident, or what happened to the couch, just remember my mom constantly telling that story….

Can't wait to start working on my HEIFER Board!! I have decided to jump in on #12×12NYE and #24in24 and now can add y'alls as well. I have 24 Patriotic to stitch, as well as 12 quilts (1 a month) for me as well as 1 or 2 quilts for my Quilts of Valor group. I should NOT be bored next year!! Season Greetings! Cristy your mouse story reminds me of so many run ins with the mice's. Hilarious! Callie so glad you found you baby. I have a 90 lbs baby who broke her little toe last week. It just breaks our hearts when they go missing or get injured. I live in the woods in New England so I periodically hear mice scampering in my walls- drives me crazy. They’re cute when they’re outside but not so much when they come into the house. You girls are the best. I absolutely hate mice. It comes from my childhood. Never heard a fly flapper, always called it a swatter. I tried to do the WIP dating thing at the Jingle Ball, it was not working for me 30 seconds in and it would pitch me off. After 4 times I gave up. I sure wish I would have seen you at 1 of the tables would have been a hoot to visit.

The cat and mouse adventures were the hilarious! I had a cat bring a chipmunk in from the garage once and had to go to work with it on the loose. I can’t wait to fill out my Heifer board! I only got to do Friday night at the Jingle Ball. I had to go over to Butler, AL for my aunt’s 90th birthday party on Saturday. It was wonderful to see all my cousins, but I sure hated missing my stitchy fun. Just so you know, I have heard it called a fly flapper, but most people over here in Northeast Louisiana call it a fly swatter and I have 3 in my house. 😊 I hope y’all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I enjoyed your video so much ladies, and I always do, your videos are priceless and definitely time well spent watching you and I wouldn't trade a minute of it. I sure can relate to your mouse episode as I have experienced the same thing and I absolutely freak if there is a mouse inside any building that I am in. In fact, if there is a mouse within five miles from me, that five miles is not big enough for both me and the mouse. I'm sure glad you found your puppy dog, what a worry that would have been and so glad he's safe back at home. Your stitching is beautiful, ladies, and thank you so much for sharing all that you do. I am currently doing Strawberry Fields as well. I only have the bottom motifs and am currently working on the border and the plant. Mine is on 32 Winter’s Brew.
To keep the mouse out put some peppermint natural oils on cotton where they come in at and they will stay away.
I am also kitting up Royal Holiday by Mirabillia to start on Christmas Eve for my Birthday/Christmas start.

A friend of mine had an oak snake in the box spring of her bed, and no telling how long it had been there before they discovered it and her husband got it out. And of course it goes without saying we live in the country. Doesn't everyone? 😅

Oh how fun Christy and Callie. Went over and joined the fb group! Love me some stitchy groups! I’d love a zoom with you two! I’m with Callie and really need to focus on some finishes in my wips so a heifer board might just be what the new year needs. I tried a wipgo board a couple years ago and did ok but it was a new thing for me so now maybe I can figure out how these things work since I’ve done it once before. I think I have over 35 wips so getting that number down will be my focus in 2024. It’s so hard not to start things though. See you on the flip side and have a Merry Christmas
