I remember this from my childhood. The first Duke Nukem game I actually played was the first one. When 3D was released I didn't think much of it because both stylistically and mechanically the leap from the previous game was so big. Eventually I grew up enjoying 3D and I think it's the best in the series, though.
11:59 That's a good description of the PC speaker, though I should point out that PC speakers on computers back then were typically located on the case and you had to plug it into pins on the motherboard, whether it be AT or ATX form factor. Nowadays the PC speaker has been omitted entirely thanks to LED indicators on the motherboard and other means for the computer to post. Some motherboards may have a piezo beeper to simulate the PC speaker but the real deal is long gone now.
Ironically, this was the only Duke Nukem game I played, lol. Such memories... it was pretty good for back in the day, honestly. I remember my one friend down the street that played this ski game where an abominable snowman eats you after you go a little bit down the slope. Duke Nukem was high tech compared to that! This game, along with Heretic, and Wing Commander Privateer was my early gaming childhood.
