When you are on your break on nightshift and a fabulous video pops up... Enough excitement to keep me awake and can't wait to get home and try this when I wake up
Love this speedy and informative tutorial taking the mystique out of this craft. I’ve hollowed out a book so will be working from the other direction, installing the lights at the back first. Also, it’s going to be possible to slide the layers between the edges of the hollowed pages, so no separators needed. Congratulations on being a great teacher.
Nik the Booksmith is such a great designer and I love hear how she thinks things out as she puts things together. I thing this is a great video!
Nik, I love it! You are terrific. Thank you for sharing so many projects with us. Hugs, Judy
Shadow boxes are so much fun- love how this one turned out- thanks for sharing

Beautiful.
What a great idea.
This is amazing Nik, is there anything you can't do. This is probably more than I could handle, but amazing none the less. I don't see any squirrels here, LOL. Take care and God bless you and yours. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas
PS. Thanks for the freebies that you share, now if I could only afford ink for my printer. Seriously, thank you so very much.

Muy linda, muchas gracias por compartir 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
So GORGEOUS !
So this requires having a Criket ?
Beautiful
Looks nice. Is there little risk of it heating up and burning?
so amazing ..
Hi love this, thank you, new to all this and you make it so easy to understand but what I can not find is how to get /cut / creat the paper layers etc. can you point me in the right direction to learn this please I have a BSnC mschine
Hi Jo! I'm not personally familiar with the Scan n Cut software, but I'd bet there are tons of tutorials here on UA-cam. As far as the paper layers, I've seen several shops on Etsy that sell digital file kits for making light boxes like this. :)
@@NiktheBooksmith thank you, yes, I did buy one and love it, thing is I would still like to make my own just dont understand creating the layers bit but I'll get there
More. More more. ❣️
I really want to try this for my grand-daughter's birthday...however, this is my first time here...where did you get the die cut sheets? Wish the instructions included the creation of those. Thanks! I SO LOVE THIS!
hi Barbra! I haven't created any except for my own use, but you can get digital kits with instructions from many Etsy stores.
SOOOOOO COOL!!! :-)
I love those things x__x
That's a gorgeous Lunibox! (yeah they're called Luniboxes)
Lunibox is a brand. They make shadow boxes.
@@alexanderpasnl No, this type of art is called lunibox in my country.
Love the box idea! Do you recommend a specific kind of paint?
I want to create something like this to put on a tumbler, any ideas? I was thinking different t shades of vinyl or paper but not sure
I'm so sorry. I jumped the gun. Thank-you for including an alternative. (little red faced emoticon here) =)
How did you make the images in photoshop?
i think is in corel Draw or Illustrator, this way its easier that Silhoutte Cameo recognize and cut.
@@zuraic thanks
Where do I get the paper that goes on back to help with lights? Name of paper and name of spacers used thanks
If you honestly need this basic info I suggest you try a simpler craft! How much spoon feeding can a person need? Spacers are…just that, “spacers” made of off cuts, and the vellum at the back is, as she says, “vellum”. Good luck! Hope this helps…
@@rosemarymortonjack9387 dayumm! LOL.
How have you survived this far in life?
@@rosemarymortonjack9387 Some people just need some extra help. No need to go that hard on them.
@@rosemarymortonjack9387this is why people are afraid to ask questions on videos like these. You guys make them feel bad for asking questions.
We all start somewhere, we should be encouraging and help each other instead of being condescending.
How many sheets of cut images did you use? I watched someone do this but they cut each one out by hand. Wow that looked tedious. But they turn out really beautiful
Hello! I think all total there were 9 layers.
What did you do to cut out your designs....that was all skipped.
Nice project, but I don't own a cricket. :(
You dont need one. You can cut the paper by hand.
purchase 5v USB LED STRIPS
This is the first of your videos I have seen, and I can’t say I was impressed as it seemed you were unprepared. The beginning of the video dragged on. This may not be representative of your other videos. I’ve done my own shadow boxes and was just looking to see if there were any other valuable tips. For anyone looking to make a shadow box, there are really nice shadow boxes that go on sale at craft stores at significant savings (Buy one, get two free) and I’ve also found them at yard sales. Keep your eyes open. It makes a difference in how they come out if you’re looking to give them as gifts or just decorate your mantle. Also, Dollar Tree now has Fairy lights at $1.00 each! I bought a case. Good luck!
I disagree. I thought it was important we saw her process as she went along so we could see any pitfalls she made along the way and avoid them as the viewer. The video quality was good and the voice over provided meaningful tips. She could've maybe trimmed parts here and there, but it was nothing major.
@cheryl devitt Can you share the link to your shadowbox tutorials?
Yeah, sounds like jealousy to me... If you're unimpressed, then that's your loss - we honestly don't care!
I liked it, and found it useful. It’s nice to see the array of materials we could use for a box and how we can modify boxes around the house for projects.
If she was prepared I would’ve been convinced I needed to spend high amounts of money on special boxes from the craft store. She made it clear. Box should be 4+ inches deep and thin enough to cut. Worked for me. ☺️
how to find images of tree like you? - key word to research.
where can i get those layered cutout design?
