Gen 3 Avanza is a lot better than Gen 4 I must say. I've been driving my car for 4.5 yrs now and really satisfied with the performance considering regular PMS. Gen 4 is purely aesthetic. I would say Gen 3 was more tougher and value for money is really a good deal. I like how you review the latest model, literally and figuratively.
madami ka talaga madidinig na negative about this car. pero sabi nga nila, to each his own. pero ito ang pros sakin: 1. turning radius 4.7m, 2. chain belt ang engine, 3. high ground clearance, 4. Rear-Wheel Drive, 5. maliit lang parking space dito sa bahay.. cons: 1. matagtag pag ikaw lang sakay, 2. maliit ang front disk brakes, tignan nyo mga vios na naka same 15inch mags, malaki ang disk brakes nila, 2. di ko masabi na fuel efficient (8.4km/l city, 14km/l long.drive), 3. cabin noise, medyo dinig ang nasa labas, pero advantage yun para madinig mo din agad yung mga motor sa blind side, 4. 4Speed lang ang AT, mas reliable kesa CVT, pero sana ginawa 5speed or 6speed, para mas fuel efficient pag nag gear shift. wala nman ako mapupuna sa mga naka ertiga at xpander, mas maluwag at fuel efficient sila. pero kung bibigyan ako ng pera, facelifted avanza pa din bibilhin ko. hahaha. otherwise, mag innova nako kung malaki na parking slot ko.
I dont understand why tf is Toyota killing off their pang masa cars. New Corolla is going to be CVT, Avanza is too overpriced, Vios is a semi-gas sipper, RAV4 and Camry is overpriced and underspeced for their segment. It wouldn't be too long some brand will overtake them and they will regret it when its too late.
As they say, don't hate the car. Hate the system. There are some reasons (which we dont know) why TMP always seem to strip down good Toyota cars when they are offered here. The new Camry and Rav4 are critically praised cars abroad for it has more tech that comes with the great TNGA platform. In the Ph, they can sell the cars just by the TNGA and nothing more.

@@prmLBlss People think Toyotas will last forever if they only keep on using it without checking its condition. There is a 2016 Vios in my neighborhood that already has a malfunctioning A/C Unit and transmission. It doesn't get checked very often, the owner only keeps on using it.
@@mrjppizza6507 For a 2016 Vios there is nothing to check unless for the A/C or the transmission, those are not routine maintenance items. if the A/C is having issues that is most likely the A/C clutch which might be from factory defect. As for the transmission in the Vios they only come with cvt in PH, and that is the problem, they are sealed transmissions not meant to be serviced but it is very easy to ruin cvt transmission just from driving the car. it is better to never buy a car that has a cvt transmission.
And that new front is very strange looking, resembles a brick. Those square front bumper pockets will catch air when traveling at highway speed and reduce fuel economy.
BRV for sure... i dont recommend Xpander it has a lot of issues like overheating, installing a sound system on it can make it risky to drive to the point it can even explode.

1M? Totally not worth it for the price.. Compared to other brands like Mitsubishi Xpander or Suzuki Ertiga or MG ZS you'll get almost all hi end features at almost the same price.. This is one bare avanza.👎

I would still choose Xpander over this Avanza or Rush because of over performance,ride quality,etc. If wise ka at gusto mo sulitin pera mo sa price magxpander ka. The only thing na ok sa akin sa toyota is innova but then ibang class na siya na MPV and you can;t compare it with Xpander dahil Rush at Avanza kalaban niya. While I agree that the price is not justified based on what it has to offer, the vehicles you mentioned are WAY MORE EXPENSIVE than the Avanza. The alternatives should be near the amount of the car that was reviewed which should be at around 1M only.

The point here is at 1M, there are a LOT of choices that are BETTER than the Avanza. The cheapest among the cars you mentioned is at 1.7M which is actually the "price of an entire car" away from the Avanza. ALTERNATIVE (noun: one of two or more available possibilities) - if it is not a possible choice because it is not within the budget of the car in question, then it is NOT an alternative. If I had a budget of 1.9M (which is the average price of the cars you posted) there are tons of other 7-seaters that are more worthy than what you recommended.

Let's look past the semantics and technicalities and just focus on the value you're getting. For around 1M you're better off with a Suzuki Ertiga, but even then you don't have a lot of creature comforts to speak of. At that price range you're basically left with subpar vehicles and the manufacturers know it. Look at the Kona Hyundai decided to sell here. It's a travesty they chose to offer us the most basic model, with almost everything that made the Kona a good car having been gutted just to keep the price around a million. For too long Filipinos have been accustomed to having access to poor class vehicles, and companies like Hyundai and Toyota are taking advantage by offering substandard cars and asking ludicrous amounts relative to what they're actually giving you. That's why I always advocate for Filipinos to go for better cars, to show these companies that we deserve better.

When I bought my pickup last year, I had to work with a budget of 1.5M - there were several choices but I had to stick to what I wanted to spend while deciding which will suit my needs best and which pickup had the best value over all. At the end of this year, I will be buying an SUV, my budget will be around 2M to 2.2M. There will be SUVs above my BUDGET and may offer other things (all those creature comforts that you spoke of) that my short list won't have, but the initial determining factor for my choices will be my intended BUDGET, which will again lead us back to our original point -- the car in question here is worth 1M, and the alternatives for buyers in REAL LIFE will be other vehicles that are near that 1M mark, otherwise, let us all buy them Aphards, Odysseys, Pilots, Land Crusiers, Expeditions and what not if budget was not a consideration. Hence, even if there are better SUVs for 2.3M and above, those will not be considered ALTERNATIVES as they will not fall on the budget I have set.

There's a 1.5G 5 speed M/T variant available. My family has the first generation Avanza 1.5G 5 speed M/T for 11 years and still running fine.

A facelift isn't worth the price. Buy something else like a Rodius or a Grand Starex, or better yet; buy a Grand Carnival.
