You’re an imperial Japanese soldier with the last remaining short handed regiment in a cave somewhere in mount Suribachi, Iwo Jima, 1945. After having over half of the regiment commit suicide with hand grenades to katanas-your comrades, fellow men you personally know, whom to the eyes of the country had served well, but to you had left you and the others behind to stand against the enemy. You and your fellow men are now well aware of the impending defeat of your forces. The threat of harm to your family and the emperor, and invasion of your homeland, hangs in everyone’s head when a transmission comes in from headquarters, and is broadcasted throughout the cave. Reinforcements? Well, of course not, just a goodbye song for you. It is silent other than the melancholy music as you and your last remaining comrades listen in-even the American artillery and air strikes that pound on day and night seem to have died down for the moment, creating a perfect atmosphere to listen to the lively tune. Every action from here on is just a desperate attempt to act with honor to the country, but the battle is lost, and the war is over for you and your men. You knew, since you were out into the army-this is your destiny. To serve Japan, and die for the emperor.
@@chriskern998 I have indeed noticed the increasing view count on this video xDDD Btw I think your auto correct wrote "Athiest" instead of "At Least" lol xD
The wind barrages you with snowflakes as you and your comrades trudge through a Chinese forest on a mission to secure a glorious victory for the empire. You watch as one by one, Mother Nature takes the lives of the weakened soldiers, some of whom were your close friends. You seem unfazed, however, as you have already witnessed nature's icy wrath claim so many lives since the start of this trek. The heart-wrenching cries of agony and eventually silence have turned into a normal occurrence. After a while, you collapse, as your body can't take the extreme conditions any longer. Pained, you cry for help, but it is all in vain, as your comrades, in no way a better shape than you, barely manage to march on, reluctantly ignoring your cries. Suddenly, a soldier begins to sing a familiar tune, followed with the rest of your unit joining in the chorus. Quieting down, you wonder, "Why waste you energy on a song?" Then, it hits you. It is for comfort, coping, and reassurance that they're in this frigid hell together, as they know they will all soon succumb to the wrath of the Chinese blizzard. Though you might just be hallucinating, somehow a heavenly-sounding orchestra plays along, as if the heavens join in to ensure the soldiers passage into the afterlife. Most of your comrades are mournfully singing, as they relate all too well with it and have accepted their fate. Some start cursing their superiors for sending them on this death march, some sob and yell in agony, and others just collapse. As the last of your men march by you, quickly vanishing in the cold, snowy darkness, you are left alone with the moans of your forlorn, dying comrades, frozen corpses and your thoughts. Yet, somehow, the song continues to be heard despite the howling winds. Definitely just a hallucination. Still, you lay there, the song's happy melody making you think of better times, reminding you of how badly you would like to see your family one last time and apologize for leaving them. Alas, the last remaining vestiges of your life begin to fade away. Your hopes, dreams, family, friends, memories? None of that matters now as you close your eyes under the blinding snow one final time.
OK hello I'm a Japanese soldier and I listened to this, and I understood, that the war is already over and I'm dead many years ago. It's OK. now I go to wherever I have to go. Good bye everyone.
The classic sound of recording in a large room.
*XDDD*
Imperior As a former member of an orchestra and marching band it was always a weird feeling playing inside large theaters because of the echo lol.
@@Takezhu88 I have the same experience from playing trumpet in high school XD
A Lot of reverb
It made me wanted to go to an orchestra
Find one and go to it! 😎
I once saw Erwin Rommel and Heinz Guderian march to this song
during their fighting the eastern front
...me too...
...the 1st. time, i heard that march was at Girls und Panzer...!

@@chriskern998 Well with the mp3s I have, every now and then I intentionally increase the reverb, so that's why it sounds like that :)
