- How to Create HTML5 Templates in Dreamweaver using Dreamweaver's Template System
HTML templates are used to create continuity for your website design, enabling the web pages to have the same look and feel across the entire website. HTML templates allow for code reuse and can save man-hours for your web design projects. HTML templates can be presented to clients to get their approval of the overall look and structure of their website prior to investing any considerable time in a structure only to be told, that is not the look that they wanted. HTML templates are time savers and money savers. HTML 5 templates are good business.
In this video, we will learn how to Dreamweaver's template system and create our own HTML5 template.
We will incorporate the following HTML 5 tags in our template design:
- Header
- Nav
- Section
- Aside
- Footer
After we have the basic HTML5 in place, we will style the template with CSS. We will learn how to create a separate CSS style sheet and attach the style sheet to our HTML5 template.
We will learn how to create editable regions. Your HTML5 template will be locked and un-editable except where you specifically allow edits. This will prevent anybody from changing any of the structures that you want to remain consistent across the website.

great tutorial, my teacher is making us follow this for a class project (webdesign 2), i can confidently say you taught me more in 20 minutes than i've learned from a year and a half in this class, cheers man
Thanks!
Really helpful tut. Great for beginners.
Good tutorial. You sound like Patrick Bateman.
Very Helpful. I'm trying to make it easy for my assistant to take my responsive eblast designs and have her just type in the fields that will change without having to have her edit code. I also didn't want to implement a database for the sake of portability. I'll finish watching your video later, but I wanted something that would GENERATE the code itself.
Great Tutorial! Really Helpful!!
