they didnt tell us Aether's answer because the point is for each player doing the quest to answer the question themselves
So the real purpose was the friends we made all along😂
@@jazminecringe being adult is realizing most answers are plain and simple
Making the story quest a "local reputation" quest
Gives them more feeling
Can't believe Genshin tricked me into doing a Character quest /j
Honestly if it wasn't part reputation I probably wouldn't have played it until many patches Later, like most of my Story quests. Aside from Archon/Harbinger ones this is the only quest I did in the same Patch it released
I haven't done this one yet, I've only done the other two tribes but the scions of the canopy one was very interesting and I'm waiting for more 😅
@@hayond656 not only did they make it part of the reputation system, they also added a limited time reward for completing it. Completing Mualani's quest right now gives you materials to ascend her and some primogems. This will disappear next patch. They really really want you to complete the quests on the patch they are released. Coz the same goes for the main story, we get an extra 500 primogems for doing the archon quest now.
@@atriyakoller136yeah it is defi a build up to kinich’s story quest and Xilonen story quest with the ore making thingy
Personally loved this Story Quest, even the ending. Natlan may be called the nation of war, but alternatively it's I think it's the Nation of Camaraderie. Even this early on, it's clear a big theme among the Natlan characters is the importance of not doing anything on your own and trusting everyone to do their part. And Mualani is the perfect representation of this.
I know a lot of people find the messages like "power of friendship" and "it's the journey, not the destination" to be extremely cheesy (and often not subtle). But I think these kind of themes are incredibly valuable in any media (shouldn't come off as a surprise to say I am a massive Shounen Jump fan). I grew up in a strict Asian community and when you're surrounded by loneliness and adults who only cared about success , messages like these were very heartwarming.
All of that and Mualani officially is one of the better written "friendly" lcharacters in Genshin. There's so much about her that is endearing and it makes sense given her background and the community she grew up in. And she isn't just nice either- she's a goofball and consistently has moments of anger, doubt, and negativity. But she's competent enough to catch herself before she falls down. Her character carried this entire quest, which is how their stories should be written. And she can do all of this without the Traveler's involvement or them being the reason for their development, which is a huge plus.
It's interesting that for all of Natlan's warrior culture, they are also a very soldier-like culture as well
Nation of Friendship ironically that's what the first Archon did get a group friends (heroes) to fight the Abyss. People might say its cliche but for me personally I find it realistic because you can't beat the abyss with only an Archon in this case.
I really like how they made Mualani personality
Such a complex character
but they did not forget to tell us she's rich af
I love how Natlan trio are parallels to each other
Mualani is rich and her parents are often on business,Kachina has a modest life with her parents, and Kinich had to teach himself to survive after his parent’s were out of the picture

NGL I really liked Viramdra's character. His sense of self-worth doesn't come from his own happiness, but his accomplishments. He needs a physical result to feel like he's accomplished anything, and without the sense that he can provide something physical, he has no self-worth to speak of. He can only accept his own pain if he gains something. To the point of being willing to risk his own life and even death, because his life holds no value. Only the achievements he leaves behind do. And even then, he understood that other people dying as a result of his mess wasn't the best "result", and encouraged Karya to go home at the beginning because it was his problem and not hers. It wasn't until he got blinded by his own desperation to prove his self-worth that he irrationally puts everyone else's lives at risk.
I was rejoicing with everyone else when Karya slapped him across the face. God that man's personality was insufferable, but damn if I can't understand the way he looks at the world. If Mualani told me to jump into a whirlpool with her, I would've told her to go fuck herself and drown.
He learns to find some happiness through his journey and relationships with other people in the end, so at least things are looking up for him. Damn if the man doesn't need a therapist though.
Fun fact: The text on the statue (the one at 52:10 and end of the quest) reads: "Flowing Springs Longs To Return To It's Source", so it actually kinda foreshadows the ending of act 3 since it's beginning
39:00 Technically we did hug Paimon at the end of the Caribert quest, however we were in Paimon's prospective getting hugged by Traveler (basically closing in on our view as Paimon) So I would say this is the first time we've actually seen Paimon be hugged on screen.
I just wanna see his reaction to the SLAP scene lmaoo
i really wanted to punch the researcher so many times he! is! STUPID!
The answer at the end is quite simple - it is the message of the quest. As players, we read the message and come up with our own response. The game assumes that we will respond positively, according to the direction of the quest. The writers do not specify the exact words of the Traveler, leaving it up to the players to come up with their own answer, which should be pretty obvious since the quest explicitly provides all the ideas and attitudes needed for the answer. I think so at least xd
they really did the "It was the friends we made along the way" bit oh my god lmao
I really like the way they did her story quest
And at risk of looking like a spam bot haha it just occurred to me...

Can’t believe Bran didn’t understand the ending 2:03:15
That the Journey is the entire meaning
Completely get it just don't like it lol
@@BranOnline Fair enough Traveler
I love it considering that is what venti tells traveler right when they leave Mondstadt. The traveler reaches that conclusion 5 nations later… I don’t know. It felt like a good call back to me
@@ManiacalBlueberry same, all I could think about was Venti saying that - I cried at the end of this quest, the journey we’ve been on is so amazing
They let us decide what the meaning is. That's why he doesn't say anything. You're just like that scholar, focus on the results.
I think the ending is fine. Both Mualani and the scholar’s answer for “meaning of the journey” look fine to me, though I don’t quite agree either “only the process” or “only the result” matters
1:30:38 I actually agree with Viramdra about "results" in a Journey. Actually, they're both right but its all circumstantial based on your position before you leave on a journey. Mualani's view is from a position of privilege, she's traveling for fun and excitement. Most travel or journey for results, they're looking for something to bring back home in order to survive. What's to point of traveling to work everyday if your not getting paid cash to support you home.
Why is friendship cringe? I’m annoyed by how many people think this way…
Maulani so expressive. I love her.
We thought Natlan was the nation of war. Turns out, it's the nation of friendship!
Also, I don't think that the quest's ending is bad or that making it about friendship again is redundant. Connection and cooperation are the main theme of Natlan, after all.
It is Nation of War.....war against the Abyss i think

@@nesiemarino5932 True, I would even stop being a F2P just for that dude lol
It seems that many are disappointed with the ending of this quest, because it seems like there is too much "power of friendship", I think you should accept it in the next quest, because Natlan has a motto "we do not fight alone",
I honestly get it. The power of friendship is kind of a bs mechanic that is used when writers write themselves into a corner for the most part. Here I don't actually get that vibe. It's more in line with trusting others and teamwork. It would be more bs if it was used to save the day, but from my understanding of this quest, trust and teamwork is what got them to the island, and understanding what is really precious to you is the moral. Like how the power of friendship isn't what beat the abyss lecture. The traveller even states that guy was only as strong as the ones he has fought before 🤣 just all talk to make you scared. No friendship power up, but 2 tough Natlan warriors working together to take down a new foe, which is the exact reason Natlan has survived as long as it has, working together with the other tribes 😊 I do agree with Bran though, great quest, just a small miss on the ending.
Mualani in the AQ: The power of friendship!
Mualani Story Quest: The real treasure is the friends we made along the way.
This girl has no enemies
I always see the Traveler’s answer left open ended in the quest so each player can have unique interpretations, make up theories or insert their own answer in the quest. The delivery is somehow inspired by Luffy’s true dream revelations in One Piece.
I really wanted the researcher to propose to the girl
Is this from the Tribal Chronicles? Because her story quest doesn't appear like other characters quest
Yes
Yes. The last part is the actual story story quest
Yep. The Natlan Story Quests are from Tribal Chronicles. It's why neither the Children of Echoes nor the Scions of Canopy have finished Tribal Chronicles. We have to wait until Kinich and Xilonen are released.

20k mora is like 4 entrees at a 4.7 star restaurant.
the npc / og guide was yet another pretty npc we will never get lol. i personally wasn't a fan of some of the ideals that Mualani has, and considering she wanted to express her feelings it felt overly dismissive of the guy's opinions. i did appreciate the presence of the tribe's knowledge surpassing the knowledge he would have gotten (there's a Watatsumi scholar that ignores what the people tell him about the culture so he doesn't understand the truth...). it just felt way too dismissive of Sumeru's ideals, though he did take it to a more extreme route despite his unknown care for Karya. i also kind of resented the ending lol. like i am glad it fully mimicked the og guide's trip but i feel it's a bit odd to imply that the spirit of the adventure for what is ultimately a rite of passage, is something you can't even let others know you've experienced. they know that the og guide experienced it and that doesn't make people want to go less, so why would knowing a few seasoned members of the tribe did ? idk, it felt a bit forced. the journey being the important part instead of the end feels forced mostly because it's a long term live service game. it still feels odd that the traveler isn't trying harder to get their sibling, stop their actions, etc. but that's just my thoughts. i think they have the ability to write in more natural ways of making it feel like the traveler is trying but not rushing and for me they are just choosing the most ineffective and unbelievable ways
i will say everyone giving him a Koolau a knowing look at the end was satisfying. but i still feel more like the Viramdra's pov wasn't unreasonable itself. just the way he went about it was extreme, which isn't unusual with Sumeru academics (including Dottore himself). it wasn't a quest for my tastes unfortunately. (i also thought the npc guy sounded Irish... sigh). the portrayal of the people of the springs is a bit of a bummer overall for me
I ALSO WAS CONFUSED BY THE END... they don't even try to imply traveler actually shared their meaning.... saying we understood her is not sharing our answer to the meaning! neither is saying we learned it or already knew it! hyv please!
This quest was so cheesy but I kinda love it? They're really hammering in the 'power of friendship' thing this patch tho...like they're not even trying to be subtle lol
Edit: After thinking on it some more, with the message they were trying to tell I guess they couldn't have had the island be anything else. Although, I do like the idea that the mysterious island with treasure did in fact exist, (the island with the ore and volcanic rock), but it was just too dangerous and completely not worth it to attempt to take some of the ore back. I just think the message was too heavy-handed, especially if you do the quest right after doing the Archon Quest which also planted the power of friendship message right in your face.
On the other hand, I think the quest did a good job of showcasing Mualani's character. Story Quests with NPCs can sometimes have the NPC overshadow the character, but in this case Viramdra was a good addition because his contrasting personality to Mualani allowed Mualani's personality to shine. So as a story quest, it definitely did what it was supposed to do, plus it had some background on the People of the Springs tribe which is great.
Bran is so restarded, he's so annoying with how he doesn't understand anything in Genshin and hates Viramdra
Bran. You're awesome and everything, but IRISH??? Are you sure your ears are hearing right? XD
I SWEARRRRR LISTEN TO THE INFLECTIONS
@@BranOnline I swear I am!! 😂 But the inflections sound more like Spanish or possibly someone attempting a Spanish accent and butchering it a bit to me.
It comes across that way in not just the inflection but the intonation. Like where an Irish accent would go higher on a certain syllable, a Spanish accent goes lower. I hope that makes sense!
@@BranOnline I'd recommend listening to a little of Antonio Banderas talking and then re-listen to the cutscene.
It's most def Spanish, I don't hear Irish anywhere 😭

1:49:34 is the perfect summary of this quest 😂
I'm early wow, hi bran!!
I personally doesnt like the "Real treasure is the friend we made along the way" bit
But, they put it together pretty well, it's like using the wrong formula and still getting the right answer
It makes my mind a bit confuse since I dont know if I like the quest or not, I might give it a 7/10
I sincerely don't understand why people don't like about that trope.
@@ununun9995 I think it's mainly because the thinking of current era.
People in modern days tend to focus more on physical rewards than spiritual, when they sell an philosophy book, they focus on the money it sold, rather than sharing philosophy itself
Im also curious why I dont like this story despite it's being executed well
Personally I think the main problem with Viramdra is the voice direction is a little off. With lines like "why would you give up on such an opportunity to come rescue me?" I feel like it probably should've been played more genuinely disbelieving rather than scolding. He's so results-driven that he can't comprehend someone he just met valuing his life above getting to the prize.
Personally I felt the opposite to you. Most of the quest was boring but the ending was pretty good, though cheesy.
Now that i noticed, wheres Emilie quest video?
the sumeru quests is really giving the "power of friendship" against the "evil darkness (abyss)" vibe that kingdom hearts love 😂

this quest just made me realized how annoying Sumeru's researcher is in general 💀
(and the fact that Sumeru's Archon Quest is all about that didn't help lmao)
1:43:56
Bro what does karya see in this man
Intelligence, endless determination and drive, a senior to look up to in her same field.. it's not that difficult to understand why she'd care so much.
I feel like you and people like Bran just can't see things through other people's perspectives if they so much as get under your skin even once.
Viramdra is obviously stubborn and makes plenty of mistakes but considering the way Sumeru raises it's scholars he's not particularly out of the ordinary there and he's not completely closed minded either, just desperate to regain what was taken from him.
@sneakretster that's not the point tho?
Yes he has a lot of determination and cares about his work and research but we can clearly see that at the end of the quest just how much his goal can make him blind.
And I don't mean just his personality but just the way he treats her.
Yes he cares about her and worries about her safety but I don't think he respects her that much.
Specially when mualani points it out how she doesn't talk too much or is not confident enough to share her opinions or how she constantly has to apologise to people for his behaviour and bluntness not noticing how it makes her embarrassed.
But then again he seemed to have grown at least a bit by the end of the quest so...I can see why she cares about him..he definitely has his good moments specially with her...I just found the dynamic interesting
Imo, their relationship is best described with that meme: "Me and the girl I pulled by being autistic."
@@sneakretster i agree but i also disagree 😭 theres no denying his intelligence and his determination which are very good qualities to have, but throughout this whole quest he’s been condescending, narrow minded, annoyingly stubborn, and well.. simply put he just has a stick up his ass LOL. He’s doubted mualani for basically everything despite her being right about everything time and time again. The part that annoyed me the most was when he thought he knew better about natlans geography than the girl who was quite literally raised there. Though i understand his behavior isnt out of the ordinary with most sumeru scholars, i still think he’s annoying and that karya, who has been nothing but kind to us, could have done better. Though the way he cares about her is cute
one piece ending 😂
NGL, I was very disappointed by the ending, yet there is no option for that.
How should it end in your opinion?
Seems like all the desperate content creators are on the Mualani trip this week. Story quest are soo good but even after they’re all done even on this map it just becomes monotonous very quickly.
This npc made this quest so annoying. Its a pity cuz that quest had potential
