    Great tip on cleaning an image. I've spent hours trying to clean images in the past only to still have them unusable. Thank you!

    You are brilliant! I never thought to do that. I've got so many beautiful Anna Griffin dies, this is great! Thanks, Jenny!

    This is great! I believe it'll make it easier adjusting CONTRAST of the picture on the phone before transferring to computer, so the background becomes more evenly white white white! Thanks so much!!!!

    OMG! I am so excited. I did not know you could do this. Now I am going to get out my fav dies and cut them out and put them up on DS. I can't wait to do this. Thank you ever so much for sharing this. :)

    How great this tutorial is. It's true it could help one in violating copyright. One does have to be careful. Everyone should understand Angel policies before crafting for sales.
    I think this tutorial explained and demonstrated well what in my clumsy hands seems very difficult. Thank you.

    Thank you for such a wonderful video. It reminded me so well of why I love my Brother scan and cut so much more than any other machine out there.
    I literally take a die-cut, lay in the scanning mat, load in and it's there, bada b ing, bada bang, bada BOOM!
    I can resize it right there on the machine... do whatever I want to with it... it's awesome. Takes mere minutes. This looks like a nightmare for such a simple die-cut & I'm a graphic designer by trade.

      Well, there are certainly more steps. But the SNC does not have a "print then cut" feature since it's a stand-alone machine. And for previous Cricut users, there is value in having all of their previously purchased cartridges/images still in their library.

    I have a Cricut maker, and this was something I really wanted to do but I haven’t been able to master much at all. I can create paper craft so much faster manually and can’t get past that. It’s difficult to watch a tutorial, and try to do it at the same time. Don’t know how to get past the beginning and so I haven’t. Had the maker for a year now. 🤔

    Two options. 1- after you cut and glue your die cut to white paper, I'd suggest using a scanner on your printer rather than taking a picture. Provides a cleaner image. Of course, only works if you have a scanner. 2- You can clean up the last scraggly bits after you insert to the canvas using "conture" on the right side of the screen.

      I was thinking the same. I don't have a smart phone.I know that's hard to believe but tracfone works for me. I have a graphics program that would clean up the die . I think I will try it

    Great idea. I'm planning to upgrade my digital cutter (an older Cricut where you put the cartridges in) and have been debating between the Cricut Maker and the Brother Scan and Cut. I have tons of cartridges which would work well with the Cricut. However, I want to be able to cut stamped images, which the Brother can do. Is there a way to cut stamped images with the Cricut? My regular printer can scan so would the Cricut be able to cut around it? What would be your suggestion? Thanks for any help you can provide.

    • @cherylcullen9087
      @cherylcullen9087 7 років тому

      Barb Borja...I'm in the same place you. Wanting to upgrade. I also have many many cricut cartridges ...but I'm wanting to be able to cut out my stamped images and not have to buy dies. I've hear nothing but good things about the Brother Scan & Cut. I've also heard the you don't have to buy very many dies to have already paid for the Brother Scan & Cut! Dies are very expensive. Anyway good luck with making your decision!! Hopefully we both will figure it out!! 🦋

      I made a video to show you TWO ways of using your stamped images. It's not as "easy" as using the Scan N Cut- there are more steps- but it's much more flexible. ua-cam.com/users/edit?o=U&video_id=gv2fNwLO5Y0

    I have another question ... I also have stamps ... I have tried to stamp them and then take a photo and I have
    tried to trace via a sharp pencil ... I have even taken a photo of picture of the stamp and each time I try to use it on DS3, it shows it as a bunch of zaggety lines and my machine goes bezerk making all the little in and out cuts that make up ink or pencil ... any help in that area?

    • @crafttestdummies
      @crafttestdummies  6 років тому

      If you follow the "Print than cut" image direction at 5:25, it will clean that up for you... and you can actually repeat the process a few times.

  • @faysalkus1083

    I'm a little confused. Let's say I have a simple box shape die cut from a company. I want to mass produce them for my business because I can't obviously manually cut 100 or 200 boxes. The outline is so simplistic. It's just a box. There's nothing significant or detailed about it. The majority of the embellishment I make are my own... would that still be considered violation of copyrights if I replicate the simple box?
    In this case, ANYTHING I use from my crafting for my business would be violation of copyright?? I've been trying to ask this question for YEARS and I don't get any answers. I really want to know. What's the point of buying these tools then if I can't use them for my business?

  • @tamathamavraides5532

    That was awesome!!!!! That was super helpful. I don't think there is a copyright issue because its a die we would have already purchased. We are not supposed to sell the things we cut with the dies. Actually, as I understand the exact rule it's we can't sell the die cuts themselves. We can make things and sell them. If we are "mass producing" we are to request permission. For example, if you go on eBay, you will see people selling die cuts from all sorts of dies that they purchased. That is NOT legal. Plus its really rude. However, if you make junk journal that includes stamped images and die cuts that you bought you are allowed to sell the junk journal. Am I right?

    • @DettolObsessed
      @DettolObsessed 6 років тому

      I don't know why no one answers these questions. I don't know who to ask honestly since I'm starting a home business. Now I'm paranoid, I don't know what's legal and what isn't. I asked a lawyer recently and he couldn't help me with these things. I contacted Cricut, Sillhouette-- no answers. So what am I supposed to do? I was hoping you have some answers.
      So based on what you're saying, I can't sell anything I die cut?

    You need to be careful with this advice. Many die and stamp manufacturers prohibit exactly what you are proposing: digital copy and/or recreation of their designs.

    Does this violate any copyrights held by the designer of the original die? I guess if you own the die and cut it at the same size you could use it under whatever license governed the use of the die cuts. But at different sizes or orientations-I wonder if that's ok.

    • @crafttestdummies
      @crafttestdummies  7 років тому +1

      Clare Macdonald if you continue to use the image as intended- for personal use- you are OK. The minute you try to sell the file or image, you are in trouble!

    I'm wondering if I could scan the die cut and clean up in photoshop, including adding transparency. Which file formats does Design Space accept? Photo files are raster images, but the re-size like that, D.S. must convert them to a vector format (SVG?).
