Justin's right. This partisan shit is killing us all. Though I believe the song is conservative in nature, It doesn't matter, really. If you disagree, don't fight me... More importantly... Let it go and focus on yourself... Elevate yourself. Spend the same amount of time you might fight a different ideology and focus on yourself instead, and you might be the most awesome person on the planet putting that same amount of effort and energy in your ridiculous, partisan argument. Focus, people! I love all you fans.
Blue October has always had an uncanny ability to provide the soundtrack to my life. I don't mean that in a mere "hindsight" type of way. They've always provided the soundtrack to my life in real time...as it happened. Which in turn, I suppose, inadvertently provides a nostalgic level of hindsight novelty.
I don't mean this in a narcissistic way either. It's not narcissism that prompts these feelings. It's a mere observation. To say anything otherwise, would be a blatant lie. To say that they DON'T provide the musical interpretation to my life is to be disingenuous with myself.
Did you ever notice when you're going through the times that will one day be regarded as "the good ole days" that you don't know they are "the good ole days"? We typically don't know they're the "good ole days" until years later. This should give us motivation to pause and enjoy the here and now. Well, listening to Blue October songs of yesteryear serve as a time capsule to "the good ole days". But ironically enough, the moments where Blue October was most poignant in my life-----I somehow knew that those moments were "the good ole days" and that they'd one day be reflected upon in great fondness.
So, what's my point?
Even though their musical style has changed...the core of who they are...that is...the beating heart that pumps the music through the arterial veins of we the people...what makes Blue October BLUE OCTOBER------ remains the same. How do I know this? Because their new music affects me the same now as their old music first did back in 2009. When the old was new, it affected me just the same. Yes, the music bubbles to the surface the feeling of: "these are the good ole days...reflect and appreciate the present...this very moment will one day be looked upon as a time in which you desperately want to relive...hold on and NEVER let go".
I have never had more of a connection with ANY band. Is it the bipolar? Maybe. But who cares. I'm just gonna basque in what it is they provide. No other band has the capacity to make me feel happy, melancholic, nostalgic, bitter, shameful, regretful, proud of myself, angry and content ALL. AT. ONCE.
God, I love these guys.
THIS is the here and now, and as I type these words, the here and now is already gone. Ahhh, the good ole days are both here and now, but already gone. Years from now, (when their new songs are old) they'll serve as a time capsule to transport me to the good ole days of losing what I presently had, all so I can relive what I never really lost.
I completely understand what your saying. Whenever I put a cd in, I literally get lost in the music. So many of their songs make me think of other times in my life, good or bad.. No other band has stolen my heart like Blue! It's amazing how album after album they continue to write such heart felt yet angry songs that fit me like a glove! I dont know of any other band that has as many albums as Blue and they all ROCK! Cant wait til this damn corona shit is over! I was supposed to see them in April😭
If anyone was concerned that Blue October was becoming too pop-y and/or losing it's grimy sickness...they can rest easy because of this new single. It's giving me some serious #StankFace. #GasUpAndGo YES, PLEASE. THANK YOU. COME AGAIN.
I've been a fan since Hate Me. I absolutely love to hear his voice, I could listen to him all damn day long! Hes an amazing writer and performer! I cant name 1 song that I dont like! There's only one other band that I love ad much of B.O.

But, it's still pale compared to their old stuff... let's hope for an actually heavy song on the album

I totally agree! I was actually shocked when I hit play because I wasn't prepared to hear a little old school B.O. ! I love it actually! Slightly reminiscent of their old stuff. Now if I could only get a little man liner, I'd be in freaking heaven!

Cool music and rhythm, not sure what to make of the vocals, especially who the f cares right after fighting for God, but hopefully we won't be seeing too many political based songs because we get enough of that from too many others already.
I mean justin is a huge christian, i think he was talking about how everyone is so aggressive at eachother for things like countries, states, and religions. Later on in the song he says "dont let them get the best of me and god continue blessing me." So thats why i have this interpratation
