The graffiti arts are awesome, especially the one parking lot where all the walls are all covered with street arts. What streets is that parking lot at?
Vino, I don't know where you live...but, all art districts are about cheap affordable housings and studios to create. So naturally, they are always going to be in low rent parts of the city. Eventually what happens, the hipsters follow the art crowd and then gentrify it and rents go up...artist move out, and the process starts all over again.
Boyle Heights is the new burgeoning art neighborhood. The Latinos who make up the Boyle Heights population are trying to make it illegal for Art Galleries and artist lofts to open there for fear of being too expensive to live with the eventual wave that follows . They are right to some degree, but obviously they (the crybabies) must be renters, because if you owned property you'd be thrilled at the prospect of property values rising.
Michael Jiroch exactly! if they own their property they can also rent it. people dont want to see a good change for their neighborhood. jordans down in watts its also getting a makeover and people are also terrified. they're saying that the white people who left the city want to move back.
Looks cool, I'm thinking about spending a couple of months there! Thanks for the insight
