YES! This is the very first time I see a stylist using an actual generous amount. Usually it's dime size which I never understood how it covers anything :/
Ive been doing her method for 3 days now, and I have never gotten more compliments about my hair before! THe curls are shiny, alive, and just...more awake! LOVE LOVE THIS WOMAN!
She Meets City yes she's my auntie
Today was my first day using Deva no poo cleanser and conditioner and I was OH MY GOD, what have I been doing all those years without these?Plus, the series is eco-friendly.
I've been using the Curly Girl method for a few years now and I constantly get compliments on my hair!
Warning!: yes it is definitely possible to over condition, these are very useful tips but keep in mind this is also a hair product company and obviously they’d want you to use more, however too much conditioner can weigh your curls down, relax them, cause build up, and even cause frizz, just make sure you use the proper amount for your hair/hair type and you should be just fine but I’m warning you curly girls, conditioner overload is not good
Interesting this comment was 2 years ago and now these girls are complaining about having these symptoms. 🥴
If I could, I would like this video an infinite amount of times.
Emily O a
Me too
The model looks so happy, like, "Damn! Someone finally knows curly hair!!" :)
her smile at the end is so reasurring...and i love it
I have that tight spiral 3b-c curl pattern and I do this regimen but with different products. I don't flip my head over when spreading the gel cause I can't distribute the gel evenly, but I scrunch with my hair tilted foward. It works so well omg.
I need this lady in my lifeeee
I already knew a few tips, but using the little clips is new to me. I will absolutely try that ... once I have bought them xD
I've done it for years (you end up with just a light coating of conditioner in your hair). It makes a HUGE difference.
oh my goodness . you have the curls .i have learned 2 more steps to look like you. thank you.
Thank you so very much for finally knowing how to care for curly hair.
Thank you. Will share with my following.
Waaauuw verry defined curls i love it
Awesome. I'm a curly girl and boy is it a beautiful mission lol
I bought your first book and loved it. I didn't stick with it because of the no shampoo and my Botticelli curls just laid flat and my hair looked so greasy. Do you go into Botticelli curls more in depth in your 2nd book? I don't live in an area where people get dry hair cuts for curly hair. Everyone cuts it wet so I"m on my own in this. Any tips for cutting and maintaining my hair myself? I cut my own hair already but it's always straightened with a flat iron. Thank your for posting this and all your other videos.
Wow, I don't even have your amazing products but just this method alone has changed my hair. I did it tonight and my curls look like they were heat curled but they are soft and moist even when dry! I LOVE YOU FOR THIS
wow that "trickle rinse" is totally new to me...going to try it!
Lorraine Massey is an inspiration :) the girl is beautiful and also her hair along with Massey's hair ;) !!!
I swear by her curly book I swear it works wonders, would highly recommend!!!!
Stunningly gorgeous model!
I can understand now why my spiral permed hair was so lovely I used mostly conditioner and loads always thought I used way to much love this I know I'm on the right track thank you. And wow hair looks amazing yours and the model xx
Such an amazing lady.
.......sweet voice.....pretty model..... everything is sooo soothing in the video
Water only wavy here. All I use other than tap is distilled water, and I'm loving it!
She has stunning hair omggg (the girl getting her hair done)
they are both beautiful but the model is gorgeous
This woman with Lorraine is so beautiful 😍
I LOVE this video. I just got my devacut on thursday and now I can replicate my look for months.
thank you so so much !! i tried this method yesterday and wow i love the results !!
Guess I will have to give the no poo another try. Hard to get used to the idea of no bubbles and hair that doesn't "squeak" as we were taught growing up. I use a deva cream as a leave in that I do like.
Since I made the switch to Deva Curl my hair has never looked better
The curly queen
I use plain white vinegar for a co wash... works great for my hair
Sarah doesn't vinegar smell bad?
you rinse it out, and put moisturizing conditioner in so no it doesn't smell
Sarah thanks!!
Her hair looks lovely at the end, does the gel make it feel crunchy though?
after the hair has dried, you "scrunch out the crunch"
This video helped a lot for my curly hair!
is gel with aloe good for curly hair?
Sounds like some people never heard of build up or hydral fatigue 🤭
I have tried to condition wash my hair and it looks great at first, but then I start to get a build up on my scalp and my hair looks oily. When I say build up, I mean my scalp gets itchy and when I scratch it the gummy, oily residue is under my nails. What am I doing wrong?
It happens the same to me!
Glad I am not the only one
+Donna Roach You may want to use a low-poo instead of co-washing.
What I'd a low-poo?
one example: www.amazon.com/DevaCurl-Low-Poo-No-Fade-Lather-Cleanser/dp/B0016ZNWMG
there's information all over the web about alternatives to co-washing and sulfate cleansers
I will try
Gratidão,
Fabulous blonde hair
where to get all of those products!d?
can u plz make a video how to grow curly hair
Musira Khan don't cut it.
Kinda gives me anxiety that the hairdresser has her jacket and bracelets still on while washing the models hair 😬
So pretty!!
you can so over-condition curly hair..
Amy G I was thinking the same!
no ,if you do a deep keratin treatment one's a month ,keep it in balance
high porosity hair is greatly susceptible to over conditioning.
What she probably meant was you can never use too much conditioner rather than you should overload in moisture in your hair
I never get the moisture balance right. It's always too dry or too oily. Hopefully when I finally start CG method I will be able to start learning what to do. I have the book and still reading it as I just got it yesterday.
is it possible that the fact my hair is curly on top and almost entirely straight on the bottom has nothing to do with damage? i mean is it possible to have multiple textures? im 17 and my hair didnt start curling until puberty
Do you mean that your hair is curly at the roots but straight when it comes to the ends? Because i used to have the same problem. It is damage, even though it doesn't seem as if. I didn't have split ends, but I used to straighten my hair and blow-dry it a lot. SO the outcome was not that I had split ends, but my hair got thinner in the ends and more straight. I didn't realize that it was damaged, but once i did the 'big chop' to try out another style, i learned how to treat curly hair and my hair wasn't thinned out anymore. As a result, my ends are just as curly as my roots. But you say that you got curls when you came into puberty, so maybe your ends are the 'old ends' of when your hair was straight when you were younger. I would recommend to chop off those straight ends, it is probably the best for your hair :)
If you need some tips on how to treat your curls you could watch some more videos of Hispanic or in general black people. I am white, but I have reallyyy curly hair for a white person and the tips of black women really helped me and worked for me :) But it all depends on your hair type and how your hair reacts to different treatments:)
+Jil Buchien thanks for the tips, but i meant the top layers of the hair, the part that is visible, is curly, and the hair under that is much straighter
still though, helpful advice, thanks
ohh ok I understand:D Well this also happens to me. My hair is like 3a-3b on top and in the back of my head, but there are certain strands underneath that are wavy. I went to my hairdresser and I told her that this annoys me, so she cutted my straight strands a bit shorter than the rest of my hair. This way it isn't that heavy anymore and curled a bit more, but those straight strands also weren't that visible after she cut it shorter. Maybe that will also work for you:) It is normal that your curls aren't all the same and that you have different kinds of curl types on your head, it happens to almost all girls with naturally curly hair :)
That is normal! You should check out www.reddit.com/r/curlyhair. Some of the curl descriptions in the sidebar specifically mention having a very curly or very straight underlayer
Curly hair can have multiple textures. I have one section in the back that is almost straight. Even when I cut off all the damage, that did not change. It's not just underneath for me though it's a whole section. Nothing I can do about it but brush out the curls so it matches or use pin curlers to curl it up.
I didn't know you could put conditioner on the top of your head. I've been told by my hairdresser and a variety of people to only condition to the ends or not directly on the scalp. they said it might damage ..? or dry out idk. but i was just confused..
i'm not sure about damaging, but for less dry hair types conditioner at the scalp weighs down too much and it feels greasy. i have finer wavy/curly hair and find i should still keep conditioner to the ends but use a sulfate free shampoo. experiment and see what works for you!
Thank you guys. aliceprobably my hair tends to be greasier, so i guess i should stick to conditioning the ends!
Keniaaa R conditioner with silicone will block the pores on your head and stunt hair growth, one condition is safe to use on scalp, Lorraine even recommends people with dry skin to shave with it.
madelin kenia its true
madelin kenia no
I have naturally curly hair but it's so oily on the top what do you suggest??? TIA!!
Loved it
What are the products that she did use?
I'm curious too.
I have her book
I really hate the new UA-cam update, I mean, now you can't see when it was published and there is no description
+Lps Isabella yeah, I thought you couldn't, I didn't see the arrow
+Bumble Bee oh you have to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the description to find the like and dislikes
Love curly hair ❤️😍 #curlyhairwinning
At 2:08 she is like Kill Me Now lol
amazing. I loved your video
love from Pakistan
Wait so...you don't wash out the conditioner all the way?
Minerva Valentine I don't think so, that confused me as well
I went to this place called Neel Loves Curls and they explained this. To keep the moisture in you do a crap job of washing the conditioner. My hair is pretty dry and frizzy so I was recommended to stay under the shower for 2 seconds then start to dry off. The conditioner helps contain the frizz as well as keep it hydrated.
One more tip, if you hair is really dry, frizzy and has little shape, condition at least 5 a week with no shampoo. If your hair was like mine (extra dry and frizzy), condition every day and shampoo every three weeks
every day conditioner and every three weeks shampoo? how was the result after three weeks, thanks
You can wash it all out and use a leave in conditioner
oily as fuck, no curls. the method sux
I have curly medium-long hair and when i wash my hair the back of my hair when it's dry it becomes more wavy than curly. The front is curly
My curl pattern is crazy and I have super shrinkage.
I cannot wash my hair with shampoo that doesn’t lather.
Plz mention the products name in the explaination.
Can I use any type of hair gel? And what should I apply to my hair the day after I washed it to style it?
Love for curls :-)))
i love you !
In Italy we say "pizzicata" made by some clips :-))))
Okay, so this tutorial is great but..... My curl Type is a tinnyyyy bit thicker than the models and when I brush it if just gets more and more frizzy. Also, I am brushing it wet, but it just turns into this weird Afro thing. Whenever I flip my hair upside down it just gets worse and adds volume. I DO NOT NEED MORE VOLUME. No hate. But I'm just looking for advice, send help!
Did she left conditioner on her hair? And if I want to use an styler, I still need to let the conditioner or I rinse it out? I’m new on these things about Deva Curl.
Is there a Salon near Daytona Beach FL that does the curly cut? My hair is very long and I have layers but they never seem right and they do use a razor which I don't like.
Nobody really understands my hair.. i want to regain my curls back but i just can't coz it's something ppl doesn't prefer here and the shampoo i used for years have made my hair wavy. I am told to comb my hair which is a no-no to curly hair. And my gets all bushy and frizzy coz of combing it. Plus the major drawback is it's hard to find a sulphate free shampoo here! I want my curls to be healthy, I've hated it all these years but now i want it back, I finally started loving my hair but things are still aren't going the way i want it. I tried explaining that my hair needs something but it just seems fake for them. 😢 Why not understand my hair?😢😭
I dont get what she has done to get her hair dry. Did she use a hairdryer or did it happen through air drying?
Which products do u use for curly hair
I can't put conditioner on my scalp. I have sebbhoreic dermatitis. I keep my scalp sprayed with apple cider vinegar and aloe Vera juice.
+Temickab b Hi Temickab, I have the same issue. What I do with this is while rinsing I gently rub my scalp to get out any and all residue of the conditioner from the scalp. After drying the hair slightly as shown here but with some moisture still in, use a little of the conditioner on the ends only. You can then use your ACV and aloe for your scalp. I use a mixture of the ACV, water and Tea tree oil and apply to the itchy spots of my scalp with a q-tip. It totally stops the itching for days.I noticed with this method my scalp stays more moisturized so it is less oily and I get much less dandruff than when i use shampoo. I hope you figure out something that works for you!
Do you recommend the same to little girls?
I don't see why not but kids hair is usually just healthy because they don't dye it and use heat like adults usually do. But if you have a child that you think may need it give it a try. I don't think it would hurt.
I would skip the styling products, but the co-washing will almost certainly improve your (I'm assuming) daughter's hair manageability. When I was little, shampoo over dried my curls and made them tangle. Co-washing is the best for fine hair, IMO, which I still have and which most kids have.
Ashley Young I have fine hair and co-washing, or even putting conditioner on hair that has been cleansed with a low-poo, leaves behind a lot of buildup on my scalp on second-day hair.
No scrunching out the crunch?
The problem I have with my hair is that my roots are straight for some reason and my curls start by my ears, so if I condition as shown in the video my roots get super greasy in no time and I don't know what to do...
+Tanit Kirjonen Don't condition at the roots every time.
Kayla Donn Halsey I actually never condition my roots... Sorry that I didn't explain it properly :S
What if I am a swimmer? Doesn't chlorine have to be washed out with shampoo? I use sulfate free shampoos from Creme of Nature and ORS but I find my hair is still dried out from them. I want to go in the route of co-washing (or no poo from Deva Curl) but I'm afraid it won't get the chlorine out!
I know this comment is old - but according to the curly girl method you can use a conditioner in its place.
Jhanel Dundas - Year old comment BUT you should try Clenditioner on Amazon.com. I only use that after the pool and beach.
What are the products used?
What to do with wavy hair.
Which gel she is using?
I want to see this on tightly curled hair.
***** Taren Guy has a UA-cam video called: True Wash & Go Styling for Kinkier Hair Types - Hair Rules. Check it out. This method has done wonders for my tightly curly hair.
created2worshipGOD Thanks! I think I've seen the video but I will check it out to make sure. I tried Anthony Dickey's method of wash and go's for a month but I got a lot of knots so I stopped.
***** Knots usually happen when you either haven`t put enough product in (better more than less), not enough slip in the product, time for a trim or you are not taking your time to detangle from tip to root. Trust me, I speak from experience. I had given up on wash and gos also and have researched and revisited it and am loving it now.
created2worshipGOD The whole finger detangling things just doesn't work well for me and that's the suggested thing to do during a wash and go. Lorraine Massey is against combs and brushes period. I just need to go to a natural hair salon and have someone really educate me cuz no matter how much product I use there is always some knarl or knot or something. I don't want to destroy my curls with heat but at the same time I do cuz then it would be easier. I just need this journey to be easier.
Search for a curly girl/ wash and go salon one in your area. All the best.
I have bleached hair and I always felt like I need to comb through my conditioner. Maybe I could try just scrunching the deep conditioner instead, but I'm worried that it won't condition my bleached curls properly.... 😕
@Shizzle Mydizzle thanks 😀
What shampoo and conditioner does she use?
You can very much over-condition curly hair. If I use too much, I'll know because my hair will be weighed down.
N-O WAY....couldn't happen, could it? I am going to have to try this.
Your comment is 4 years old so I am curious. How did it work for you?
I can do this
Um actually you can over condition hair
Manatee()5 i think she meant no conditioner overload. Not moisture overload
Simply Sookie Lorraine Massey actually corrected herself in December :p. But yes, she did mean conditioner, not moisture. It's very possible to over moisturise hair. It's difficult to over condition,
I know this is a bit late but doesn’t conditioner make the hair fall out? That’s what’s been happening to mine at least until I stopped conditioning.
Tasnim Ezzddin cowashing (especially exclusive cowashing and especially done with a normal conditioner) very often results in hair loss, normal conditioning shouldn't, just stay away from the scalp
@@tasnimezzddin6222 I saw another video with Lorraine and she explained that it may seem like you are losing a TON of hair, but because doing the curly girl method doesn't involve brushing, your hair will not shed right away. It will be "stuck" in your hair until you cleanse again (provided you have second day/third day hair). So it's not really a lot of loss, per se, but that it just gets trapped until it's washed again...then you see it come out.
I live in Turkey I want to buy these products or brand names are what I wonder.
She is using the products from the brand Deva Curl. IMO this brand has the best products to curly girls out there.
Who is the model?!
Who is the model???
Do you have to blow-dry it?
Not at all. It is better if you don't. But if you need to use a diffuser on low and on cool air.
I recommend to get the volume she has and to imitate the washing over the sink to flip your head upside down and then rake your hands through your hair after you detangle
Do I have to put the conditioner into quite wet hair or into towel dried hair?
In the shower as you would normally do.
but what is this gel??
i think it was deva curl's ultra hold
Deva curl light defining gel
Where can I buy your diffuser?
On their website
Need a hint of your products
Ok but am I the only one who get really annoyed with wet, product filled hair staying in my face or on my shoulders/back for the SEVERAL HOURS it takes to air dry....especially with glasses on it's really annoying....
