Priest is my all time fav metal band and I knew going in this would probably be the album of the year for me and most likely already is and I haven't even heard all of it, but Saxon has to be 2nd or co number 1. Hellfire & Damnation was EPIC as well and they never disappoint much like Priest never does. I'd even argue they're more consistent so it's mostly a battle for 3rd for the rest of the year.
Thanks for the review, looking forward to hearing this just heard the track 'Invincible Shield' this morning wooooooah! I want whatever the Priest had for breakfast before they wrote and recorded this album... seeing them in Leeds UK in 10 days time 🤘
What do you think of the Lodger? That's written by the Take These Chains/Some Heads are Gonna Roll guy and it's in a way it's like a follow-up to The Ripper because it's based on the1944 film The Lodger which is about Jack the Ripper.
I've seen Richie do his version of the Comfortably Numb solo, it's really good and he is a Gilmore fan so that makes sense.@@sonicallydisruptive

To be honest I was amazed when I saw Bob Halligan's name credited on Invincible Shield. Some Heads are gonna Roll and Take these Chains are very specific songs that I like much and I am looking forward to hearing this song very much.
@@treeduck3705 I wasn't aware of that, makes sense, definitely has a different vibe to it but I always liked that song and thought it suited Rob's voice.
I always find it weird when people say they didnt like Demolition and like Jugulator which I hate. No redeeming qualities at all in this album when in contrast I loved Demolition and rank it really high
The Serpent and the King and Invincible Shield title track are much faster and lacking speed was exactly that thing that prevented me from giving Firepower 10/10. Don't get me wrong Firepower is one of the best metal albums of the 2010's era for sure. Speed is a fundamental part of this genre and without it it sounds simply generic.
My personal TOP 5 Priest albums are... 5. Nostradamus - brand new and totally unexpected direction for this band. Love their efforts on this album. Weaker guitars and fake orchestration tho. A very consistent album that perfectly fits when you feel blue. 4. Firepower (Invincible Shield?!) - groovy monster Spectre made it on my TOP 20 Priest songs list, unbelievably great album, stellar production and MELODIES baby! 3. Sin After Sin - Roger Glover as producent. What more should I say? Dissident Aggressor and eternal hit Sinner, kickaz album cover art 2. Stained Class - changed the whole genre. Super nearly prog album. One of the best and heaviest songs of the whole decade - Exciter and suicidal note - Beyond the Realms of Death 1. Defenders of the Faith - riffs, riffs and once again catchy riffs, dark balads and excellent vocals by Halford. Tom Allom's production really does shine here on this album. MY FAV - nuff said
Do not believe a word this guy is saying. It's still the same bandwagon "we can thrash metal, too" garbage they've been releasing since forever. Halford still sounds like a Dalek and the lyrics read like they're written by 8 yr olds. This is laughable crap. Classic Judas Priest shits all over modern Judas Priest. Judas Priest is Rocka Rolla to the aptly named Defenders of the Faith. /end-of
Yeah, I give credit that Priest is still making music, but i definitely have my own opinions. Firepower is the last record i will buy. It's not necessarily terrible, but boring as hell after a couple of weeks it collects dust. The same for the rest of modern Priest..strangely i do like some stuff on Nostradomus. The real songwriting is the 70's. Sad Wings, Stained Class era.

I like it, it is the strangest song on the album, almost Gilmore like guitar work and very theatrical. So weird in a cool way.

Bob also wrote the song "Twist" for Halford's Resurrection album.

Redeemer of Souls with better production and more guitar solos!!!... sounds perfect!! Good Review!!!

Fight of Your life sounds like God of Thunder by KISS.
I like Nostradamus as well, it's a great album.
Nostradamas is fantastic!

Shut up, KK
Relax....You sound very angry that a band is making music you don't like. There is the option not to listen.
