Someone can still be depressed AND mentally competent

Well said that someone can be mentally competent and still suffering horrendous daily mental health anguish and what to end their suffering because they are struggling to function with the depression and grieving the old self when they had their full health.

no... no doctor would approve assisted suicide for depression. None. Depression is not what we are talking about here u ignoramus. depression is a walk in the park to having to go through chemotherapy with only 5% chance of surviving... or sitting there with ALS getting turned into a veggie. So no... u drama queen.... we are not going to help u die just because you have depression... that is not what we are talking about here. Once agin NO DOCTORS WOULD APPROVE.

Please bear in mind that when people go into dementia, they actually do suffer. My mother had dementia for 17 years. She had to step down dementia with frontal lobe strokes. She was prone to many bouts of anxiousness, crying, she had chronic bladder infections that we were not always aware of. She was in pain with her Scoliosis in her back and could not articulate. Every once in a while, a window of consciousness would open up for about five seconds, and she would realize for a moment what was going on. I do believe she lived in a horrible state. We don’t have any certain evidence of what it’s like to be in the body of a person with dementia , when all signs of cognitive lucidity are missing. But something is still there. I only say this, because I think it’s important that folks don’t relegate people with dementia to a place of not feeling any mental or physical pain.

If I loose all my painful memories, then I'll be happy? The trauma I went through leaves no trace if my memory of the event is erased? I'm terrified that I will be left with all the pain and no explanation, no knowledge of its roots......

Do they see it with a CatScan and does it look like something else? I keep getting distention of the stomach showing up on my scans.

When u drink the mixture, I heard its a slow agonizing death vs getting the IV meds.
People have reported people moving around and groaning like they were in pain
after drinking the mixture....I would choose the IV so my loved ones wouldnt be traumatized
    watching me die in agony

What if you have no connection with your family? After child protective services was finally forced to get involved when I was 7 years old my dad was given sole custody of me I did not see any other family for the great majority of the next approximately ten years when my dad died. Family showed back up at that point but it would have been better had I just been made a ward of the court and put in foster care at that point.

I truly am glad these various agencies exist and people can access them, that have the luxury of accessing 10k euro. to have the opportunity to have an assisted death when it suits them. But i think the stipulations should be changed where someone has to have a terminal illness and only have 6 months to live.
    How do we define Suffering?
What levels of suffering some people could suffer daily might not be the same as someone else?
What is their quality of life like?
But also i think that Governments should regulate and authorise the access to genuine Nembutal liquid for people suffering from chronic physical pain and also mental health suffering that are still of sound mind. And have truly had enough of daily suffering and pain.
Let people decide when they have had enough and want to pass away in their own homes and not have to fret and worry about raising the huge fees needed aswell as meeting the criteria to be allowed to end their suffering? Aswell as worrying are they fit enough to travel there.
If Governments changed the law and allowed people access to VAD in their own countries where a GP can assess and authorise the Nembutal liquid script.
There would be influx of people that are in chronic physical pain or mental health suffering that haven't the huge fees needed to pay for this luxury.
Like myself i am in horrendous chronic pain spinal pain and nerve pain and has robbed me from a successful career as a mechanic and i can take some GP prescribed pain meds and other GP prescribed nerve pain meds i cannot tolerate them.
If we had the proper protocol where i could work with my GP to authorise the release of Nembutal liquid for a VAD i would sign up tomorrow, without a hesitation.
I have a limited quality of life and struggle real bad with mobilty and chronic pain
