      Thanks John, appreciate it brotha. Sounds awesome, elders teaching the youngsters these life skills is very much dieing off in the UK. It's a shame! Great bonding times, especially when it's as challenging as it is with a springer.

    Awesome video, love it, one question. Is your hunting knife blade over 3in long? Personally I don't care but you will find that it's illegal in the UK where I'm assuming you are. Even out in the wolds. Crap Law btw. Great video though.

      Thanks brother, glad you enjoyed my video.
      Yes, my knives 16" long! Slightly over legal allowances!!
      I dont really care for the controlling rules of the country I live in...
      I dont walk the streets with them and when I'm on my private 500 acres of land, I do as I please.
      Thanks for watching

    Very nice camp you've developed and your son is a lucky boy to have you taking him out there to learn the ropes and experience the woods. I, too, am surprised there aren't more vids combining bushcraft and hunting, especially small game hunting such as you do. Of course, here in Wisconsin, small game can't be hunted in summer. But one thing you do demonstrate is that hunting involves a lot of time and patience and still can send you home empty-handed. Great to see you combine all the elements in one video.

      Thanks mate
      Iv got 4 kids, but it's only my eldest son & youngest daughter that has an interest in all this kinda stuff. We all went back out there last weekend, just a 1nighter, but it was a really fun camp.
      Defo on the camp ~ hunt vids, I'd love to see more of them. That's it pal, I like to show the reality of Hunting. I always look at the positive side of everything!! Sure only got one rabbit, but ones better than none.

      I'm surprised about the lack of camp - hunt vid's there are on youtube. There's thousands of both camping n hunting, but only a hand full of both combined. That's awesome mate, looking forward to watching it. Me too on the Squirrels, but I think i'm guna hit the rabbits n woodys for a few months. start back on the bushytails come autum.

    Like always great videos! Just one question the Flint Striker from Olivemeadforge which model is e.g. FS1, FS2 or FS3? Ebay search and thanks for sharing! ;)

    • @ClanGunnBushcraft
      @ClanGunnBushcraft  7 років тому +1

      Thanks Keller, appreciate it buddy. Mines the FS3. It's got a slightly bigger handle. Fits my fat fingers in it a bit better. You can tell the difference between it and the other two versions, as the tail part of the handle curves round and nearly touches the striker part. Iv got three carbon strikers and the Olivemead one is the best by far. Produces loads more sparks than my other two cheaper ones.
      Cheers,

    Awesome video man. I thought I heard some dove at 35:50 for a few seconds or so, could of just been a play on the sound from the background noise. Congrats on breaking in your air rifle with its first harvest. Thanks for posting, very enjoyable to watch. Cheers and hope you continue to enjoy God's country.

    • @ClanGunnBushcraft
      @ClanGunnBushcraft  9 років тому +1

      Thanks buddy, very kind.
      Yeah, I think your rite. That roaring noise in the background is the river thats about 200m behind me. It's where I find most of the doves linger. Haven't bagged a woody in about 18 months tho! An hour in a hide & I'm itching to go stalking, so I don't get to many.
      I love how you say harvest, I'm guna start saying that rather than kill. I only eat game meat that I take myself & live as a vegetarian at home, so the word doesn't sit with me to we'll.
      Thanks for your comment & watching my video.

    Great video thanks . Re the fishing , most fish feed on or near the bottom and that is the best place to catch them . Floats need a bit more experience and time to use . For true survival the set line is useful , if illegal in fresh water . 1 spool of heavy 1 spool light line ie 20 and 8lb or so . Pack of size 8 or 10 barbed carp hooks . Weights . Few trebles and wire traces if after pike . Fish are more available than meat if you know how to get them .

    • @ClanGunnBushcraft
      @ClanGunnBushcraft  9 років тому

      Thanks Arthur, appreciate the advice pal.
      Been putting alot of time in to the fishing recently, but I really do need to get myself subbed to some good youtube fishermen that I can learn from. Bought some new bits a few weeks back, some of what you recommended... size 8 & 10 hooks, 20lb line & some better imitation corn & worms. Took my daughter out for her first fishing trip last Sunday, we caught three little rainbow trout & a bunch of tiny catfish in a bottle trap. Good times :)
      Cheers buddy

      You should do mate, I like to use what I can from the critters I kill. Especially the rabbit hides. Iv dried out the rabbit hide from this video, think I'm guna make a rifle tool pouch out of it. Keep it in my rifle bag so I can keep all my bits together. You've got a great job pal, bet it's very rewarding being a paramedic.

      That's awesome mate, cheers. Just ordered 2 packets of the regular corn & a packet of their imitation worms.
      Iv added & removed a few things from my little pouch since this video. Got rid of the multi tool n replaced it with a neck knife & a small set of clippers + some 20lb line & a few different size hooks (12&18's)
      Cheers buddy, appreciate the tips.

      I know mate, I'm back out mid next week. Not coming home till iv had a Squirrel on the sizzle :)
      The Yew trees amazing isn't it. Above the trunk, there's four almost seat like branches. great for stargazing. Not that you need to go that high, sitting back in my hammock chair, on a clear night, looking through the pines, the view is outstanding. Galloway forest is in the top 4 best places on the planet for its night time show. My camera doesn't pick it up, but ill have a better quality cam very soon.

      37 degrees in December!! That's awesome. It's 10 hear and raining :(
      But I do love the British winters though, probably my favorite season. I'll be out most weeks for at least a night or two.
      I hope you enjoy your day off buddy, top up that winter sun tan lol.
      Yeah, I'll only bring Quorn type meat out with me. I'm a vegetarian at home, have been since I was 11, I'm 34 now. I only eat meat & fish that I harvest myself. My kids - family eat farmed meat, but I buy it from a farmers market. Organic & free range veg & meat is the only healthy option in the UK. I heard you say in one of your vids that you grow your own veg. Good on you mate, best way.

      It's an autumn camo Buffalo River rifle bag. Pretty good mate, waterproof and well padded.
      Recently iv been wearing my rifle on my chest or shouldering it, but my pack has three straps on its front. Meant for an axe or walking sticks, but I attach them through the rifle bags strap buckles. Holds it tight.

      Haha yeah, there's Hobbit's living in the area too!! They make great eatin :)
      Defantly!! Ya can't beat being out in the wild with the little ones. Learning valuable skills, but more importantly... Great father - son time. My missus is a primary school teacher, so it's her job to help with the academic education and it's my job to teach what I tell her is "real education" lolhaha.
      They do love it out hear though mate, mainly my eldest Son and youngest Daughter, but we do a full family camp up hear about 3 - 4 times a year. It's chaos mate!! I think you know what I mean... One of the first videos of yours I watched was your Son's birthday camp, if I can remember right... You had half a dozen kiddies running round. Madness mate, but always alot more fun than the solo's. Keep meaning to do a family camp video, Defo in the near future.

      Its been a while!... Panning on getting out with the camera next week sometime.
      I'm back in the UK now, so I'll be out on the squirrels again.
      I hope you and yours are well, take care

    Gostei muito de seus videos pena que no Brasil não tenha uma lei que regulariza a caça amadora para que possamos fazer o mesmo que você pode fazer em seu pais.
    Seus videos são ótimos, parabens

    I was thinking with your rabbit and rice maybe doing some green chillies mild and montaray cheese with some salt and pepper. Just sounds good.

      Absolutely. Thank you for making your channel. I'm new to bush craft, and I haven't hunted since I was a teen about 30 years ago. This is going to be my hobby so I don't drive the wife insane. Let me know how you like it. My mom invented that recipe for us when I was a boy and you can use beef or pork or chicken. I plan to get me a rabbit and try it that way. Just sounds good.

      Thanks Ben, and that's brilliant!
      Great, glad your getting out there and practicing a bit of bushcraft.
      I love it out in the wilderness. It's where I find peace.
      I'll sure try it and let you know, but it sounds delicious.
      Take care brotha
