The baler always seem to give the most grief the 1st time using it each year. Although you clean & service it the last day of the previous year and it was working perfectly. Hopefully, you can fix the counter issue. It shows you have a wee bit of experience round baling on hilly ground. I suppose here’s always a rogue bale every now & then. Great job Drew. Cheers from BC 🇨🇦

At the start of the season we always sand our bars smooth where the net goes around and feeds in and it helps a lot take the break of too mate

At the end of the season we put a smear of grease on the tension bars, it stops them from rusting over the winter, works perfect first day out.

Great video. You would almost think we are not in Scotland just now with all this warm dry weather. Oh wait the rains on 🙄😁. Nice looking bale's that buzzer/control box is the same as our maxi sr drill so quite strange hearing it and there no tramline going on 😁. Great work. Stay safe 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 👌 👍

Try putting some oil on the plastic bushes where the knife bar pivots at the top of the baler. That’s how it counts the bales ours plays up sometimes. Also unplug control box and plug it in again seems to work for me.

We ran a mchale f550 since 2008 bought brand new, always sand bars that the net runs on and leave the bar keeping the pressure on the roll of net off for at least 20-30 bales, first 10 bales of the year should be netted with manual mode aswell, the netter works better starting off in manual mode aswell

Drew: we saw you sew the barley. How is the crop coming? I saw that the wheat in the Cotswalds looked almost fully grown. We are getting our first corn in the markets.

I am pleased you had a issue with the baler as getting to see it up close a personal has answered a question I have been looking for the answer to for many years. How does a baler work and how does the farmer know when to release the bale. Even though my hubby is an arable farmer he does not bale himself he had a friend come and do it. So thank you for making my day in giving me the answer!

Having run A f550 for A while if you brush A wee bit o greese on the shiny bits of the net tensioner when you put it away it will work perfect From the start. Your baler only has one pair of tensioner bars mine has two pair, no idea why?

Ask farmer Phil to assist with your baler needs since he has fusion 2 which is similar to 550

I think. Its the same, with every baler. It's like they forget their job. After having time off. Especially the traditional balers. You could Bale 2000 one day. But by next day. Its forgotten how to tie the knot.
