- Have a look at AEM's newest wideband on the market that has automatic full time data logging of boost, afr, and rpm. Its a boost gauge, its a wideband, and it can save your engine. After watching the video, if you have questions about how to use the failsafe output wire in a failsafe strategy in your car, please contact us so we can go over the best option for your car.

shutting off power to just the coils would cause fuel to still be sprayed into the cylinder with no spark, depending on how long you have your failsafe cutting power for, you might end up spraying too much fuel into the cylinder and having a big nasty back fire. As you saw in the video, momentarily cutting power to the ecu in this car provided a nice clean "cut" and came right back after the alarm. You can adjust the "failsafe time" to be just a blip if you want.
If you click on the gauge configuration tab and select InHg/Psig your center display will show PSI gauge. So with the key on engine off the center display will be 0psi =/-1 depending on where you live. Make sure you've plumbed the supplied vacuum line to a source on the intake manifold that will be both negative and positive pressure.
You must install the software, and yes this gauge does show boost and AFR on the same gauge face at the same time. One is a halo around the border of the gauge face and the other is a digital numerical display. you can configure which is which in the software, and it comes with multiple gauge faces for all possible combinations.
You definitely can do that too. On some cars though, the ECU is smart enough that when you cut power to the coils and/or injectors, it will trip an error code in the ecu that you will need to go in and clear with a scanner tool. Different vehicles will react better to different failsafe strategies. Many cars will be able to just cut power to the injectors and/or coils via a relay. You could also have it turn just the boost control solenoid off and go to minimum boost in a lean-out scenario

how jays videos have improved since this one five years ago
good work REAL ST keep up amazing work!
i absolultly loved this video... i'm a fairly stock mustang engine but i want one soo bad lol.
This is a fantastic gauge. But was wondering why it doesn't have the option to monitor dual banks? Wouldn't that be of importance? Say if the other bank ran lean, but wasn't being monitored?
Also, naturally, the car will run lean when decelerating... What is the tolerance of the failsafe mode?
And do you have to run lean at WOT for a certain period of time to cause damage?
Sounds good only thing can I put the fail safe onto boost. so if I dont want over 22 PSI it will cut boost.?
I have a mustang also. How, specifically, do you wire the failsafe ground output to cut power to the ECU? I'm assuming you use a relay to interrupt a normally closed circuit using a ground signal. You're not shutting down the entire ignition, just the ECU, correct? If that's the case, which wire are you interrupting to the ECU to safely shut it down without throwing any codes?
Also, is it possible to connect the tach signal wire without using a tach adapter? Can you just connect it to a sin
does it work with Hp Tuners Pro ???????
yes thats normal
I saw you were running the gauge in a supercharged mustang, which is what I have. I just got my gauge and I'm trying to figure out the best way to interface with the stock electronics to avoid any catastrophic failures. I saw you shut off the power to the ECU without shutting off the entire ignition. How, specifically did you do that? Do you have a writeup anywhere?
Or...
Is there any way of interfacing with the factory traction control? Instead of pulling timing when there is wheel slip, I'd
How long can it shut down for? The fuel cut on my Supra ECU always seemed to hit hard and come back faster than I could get out of the gas.
Why have it shut the power off to the ECU? It seems that it shutting off power to the spark (be is coils or distributor) would be a more efficient way of wiring the failsafe.
Yeah, I installed the gauge along with a supercharger & thanks.. I downloaded the software last night. I'm a bit confused about getting it to properly display boost though. I temporarily set both the halo & center to such, and all I get in the numerical display is a negative number, never seeming to properly correlate with what my boost level should be. Is InHg/PSIg, boost?
I was under the impression that this gauge could display both boost & AFR, on the gauge, at the same time. I guess I[m mistaken? I've also been wondering if you simply plug the gauge into a laptop and presto, the appropriate interface pops up, or do you have to first download software for the PC side?
I see you have demonstrated that in a Terminator Cobra. Can you tell me where you tapped into the tach wire.
how accurate is this far as logging to the DSM guys? I had few AEM wbs that are pita to log with ECMLink. Is this a better product or is the new x series much better.
hey jay why dont you make a proper way of installing a arp head bolts
I have an AEM V2 EMS for my Supra, will the data cable plug right into that and can I use the V2 software in conjunction with this? or seperate software/settings?
How do these compare to the x series in accuracy and response time?
I do have one question about the aem gauge it's bran new once it was installed it goes to total lean
when just hooked upped the gauge (out of the box / not installed in car) with the usb cable to the pc, is it normal that it only displays usb on the gauge ?
What is the datalogging sample rate?
