Nice Zarko! It's interesting how similar your BFF and Smith breba were to my Calderona and Smith breba this year. Both timing, size and brix were nearly identical between yours and mine. Mine were a couple weeks ahead of yours since I woke my trees earlier.
Good to hear your confirmation Dean. I am interested to hear your comparison of BFF vs Calderona. My BFF tasting video is coming soon, if you can, please post a video of your ripe Calderona. Would love to compare them visually. Thanks.
Zarko - I only have Calderona so I can't compare it with BFF. They look identical to me and I've heard they are the same. But I'm looking forward to your comparing the two!
Hi Dan, most of the trees are already outside, under shading cloth, for the last couple of weeks. Usually first or second week of May. Inside are only several trees that had breba almost ripe, I kept them inside to avoid any stress of transitioning, and to ensure ripening. Black Madeira, CC, BFF and few others. Big fan of yours and ufc 🤜🤛👊
Nice i have a smith and have seen YT videos advising not to prune its the only one of my 47 varieties i i havent single stemmed this year have you pruned yours?
In your opinion does smith taste similar to I-258 (only 258 is larger and tastier) and col de same blanc tasters better than smith, but smith grows better and splits less
They are all great varieties, and some people will agree with your explanation. It is all subjective. For me, last year Smith had more complexity than I-258, and I enjoyed Smith and CDD Blanc about the same. Different flavor profiles and texture, but both equally amazing. My Smith was healthier growing tree from the beginning, and CDD Blanc had to recover from fmv, so I can't judge them by vigor. Blanc was ripening indoor late last season, not sure about splitting. We'll see this season...

Good morning just curious when do you take your trees out of your grow room

My Smith is quite branched. New growth was short, didn't require pruning.
My blacksmith usually drops his fruits in his first year, that's normal, you have the wasp in your area
@@claudiososa6507 No, I don't have wasp, growing figs in Michigan zone 6b. I hand polnated many trees this year, but not this Smith.
