In my budget days I used to buy Nautica ties. They were well made and had great patterns. They looked expensive but you could find them on sale for around $40. Another bargain are some Tommy Hilfiger and Michael Kors. Those sell for $60-90 in Canada. You can hunt for sales on those ties and pay $20-25. However the nicest ones I ever saw are Charvet. They have great colors and construction to their ties. If you get to Paris drop by the store. They also make pocket squares, and bespoke shirts.
Hermès is King. I have 26 of them. I have over 200 ties.
You have great taste, my friend. I owned a lot of zegna ties back in the 90's/00's, and was always impressed with them. I do feel like a lot of luxury brands are pussin' out when it comes to designs. We used to see Brioni and Armani ties with very distinct patters and prints. They're all playing it safe with the geometric patterns these days.
Personally I love ties . Whimsical , formal. I hope they never go out of style.
hi what do you think about Purple Label tie from Ralph Lauren?
I’m too much of a brand loyalist to buy outside of Brioni, Tom Ford, and Turnbull & Asser but I trust and value your honest opinion. I will give Hermès and Kiton a try. 🥂
Hermes, Kiton, isaia, and Drakes are top notch.. gotta check them out of you like Brioni and Turnbull. I’d even put them above Tom Ford most of the time
We have Harry Rosen and Holt Renfrew stores in Toronto that sell some of these high end ties. Many of them are over $175.
Awesome video. I agree with you I’m pretty much everything. Prada- overpriced and I actually wouldn’t buy anything from them even with the discounted pricing at their various Italian stores my wife dragged me to.
Hermes, isaia, and Drakes ties- love those. Especially Hermes animal patterns. But I have to say Kiton is on another level. I have the same (or similar) model to the orange one you have except mine is cream with silver squares and the quality is outstanding through and through. Lots of their patterns just aren’t my style but the workmanship is top notch.
How about the fact that of all those tires, the Kiton is the only one with a 7-fold construction? That is going to contribute more toward a great knit and hand feel than anything!
i LOVE YOUR ties!
solid review. you look quite sharp in your shirt and suit - may I ask which brands they are?
The only once that can compete with kiton, brioni and isaia is the english brands from savile row like anderson and sheppard, henry poole.
You should try one of the savile row ties and do a video of your opinion.
I like Hermes and Ferragamo prints best. Older Hermes tie can go out of shape if pull too harsh.
Flag Ship stores always have better quality merchandise than a Third Party retailer, especially the Beverly Hills, Manhattan, and London stores. This is really true for Ralph Lauren's brands versus what they sell at Neiman Marcus or Saks Fifth Ave.
Prada is junk going by their polo shirts, so no shock their ties are similar in quality.
My favorite is Stefano ricci followed by Hermès, followed by ferragamo
Would love to see you try drakes and Turnbull and asser!
thank u for the comparison
In future videos please show us the labels also
Do you own any Armani ties?
Great educational video!
Nicely done!!
Borrelli ties are comparable to superior to these. That said, Borrelli ties are usually 7-folds---very thick and not for the faint of heart. :3
You should do a review on Zilli.
I have a blue one with raised stripes. The little metal piece inside is cute, but the brand itself is very niche.
@@MartenFerret But what about the overall quality and craftsmanship? Elaborate on “niche.”
@@1525boy Mine is a heavy, 7-fold; very thick. My opinion on ties is they can only be made so well---after a certain price point, most any tie you get will be functionally identical to another. What matters are dimensional things, such as length, thickness, width, etc---and finally whether one likes the aavilable patterns.
@@MartenFerret Thanks for the information. I have several ties from Zilli, Kiton and Isaia. What do you think of the Zilli brand overall?
@@1525boy I'm going to give an unsatisfying, lackadaisical answer, though it reflects very accurately how I feel: it's fine. :3
I do not like ferragamo ties. I do like zegna.
He spends a lot of money to look like a used car salesman.
Would love to know what you are wearing…
Windsor knots are reserved for used car and real estate salesmen and others with loud shouty voices (sic). Gentlemen wear their neckties with a four in hand knot.
