Hey froggy, many thanks for your great video which has saved me hours of stress and puzzlement! I have just finished refurbishing the dash on my IS300, removing all that goo with isopropyl alcohol and refinishing with flat black plastic paint. I must say that it looks like new and I am very very happy with it, Your advice was fantastic and I really appreciate your clear and methodical approach. Btw, I managed to do this refurb without completely removing the dash - I removed the centre console and all the parts that were easily removed including the air bag covers on the A pillars and then carefully masked off all the areas I didn't want paint to get onto prior to spray painting. Once gain thanks for a brilliant video.
Would love to see the finished product once you're done cleaning-up the dash! If the airbag light is on now, that might be a problem. You'll probably have to take it to someone who has a scan tool that reads and resets SRS codes. Often times it's the dealership, who'll charge an hour labor just to plug in their computer and and press a few buttons.
For anyone else having my problem. I ended up going to Lowe's and getting highdensity mini foam roller for $3 and it worked great. For the small hard to get areas just use the brush
I'm not fast either...but I like to be thorough. I'm going to make it my first "winter weekend" project. I like to fish when the weather is warm. Your video was a great help. Did you use the tutorial on MyIS as your reference?
After you used the forever black. Did you have to add a finish on top of the forever black? Or was that it? Just 2 coats of forever black and leave it?
@@matthiasei1481 I don't prefer armor all, some types leave shiny finish. As for rubbing off it shouldn't but not 100% sure. I never put it where I rub on it. :)
No never saw it on, I have never driven the car aggressively enough to trigger vsc intervention. :) Come on in my Corvette a lot when it is supposed to.
doing this job tomorrow on an 01 so i can put it in my 04. thanks froggy. great video
Thanks! I just removed my 2004 dash with the help of this video! Great content, Froggy!
Glad to help

*realizing he’s sitting in front of it
Yes & there is no good way to remove these dangerous bombs (certain of which have been recalled - think millions)
perfect! i have an '04 😭
Good project to make it look new!

Great idea,
:)
@@1947froggy one last question lol. Since the FB isn't waterproof. How do I seal it? Or do you recommend just leave it as is
@@matthiasei1481 If it looks nice just leave it, once in a while use your favorite interior detail product.
:)
How long did it take to complete the project? I love the look your dash has and I'm hoping I can finish the job in a weekend.
One day remove, one day paint, one day reinstall. Length of "days" vary. 5-7 hrs? I am NOT fast.

Yes.
Hi good afternoon, I'm looking the navigation system, my Lexus is 2002 and is without it?
It's a screen in the middle of the dash if you have it.
After you used the forever black. Did you have to add a finish on top of the forever black? Or was that it? Just 2 coats of forever black and leave it?
No, just the FB
Cool I'm going to try it. Looks great. Can I armor all it later on? Or will the dye come off. Also will it rub off on my pants?

@@1947froggy ok and you did 2 coats and it came out even everywhere? Did u wet sand the surface before applying or just clean it with cloth and apply?
@@matthiasei1481 I don't recall, but IMO wet sand would be fine.
:)
Im having the same issue how let me know the name of the part .
Long video, which part?
Am I applying too much or too little ? Idk
Sounds like too much, I have since tried Plastic specific SPRAYS for a better result than brushing. Could do that.
:)
hey have you ever had your vsc light on?
Not sure, what is vsc?
:)
vehicle stability contron light on dash
No never saw it on, I have never driven the car aggressively enough to trigger vsc intervention.

Come on in my Corvette a lot when it is supposed to.
