The best part... is that while this game is a wondrous journey, it is arguably the weakest in the trilogy. When halo 2 was set loose on the world, other shooter game developers either put down their guns instead of trying to best it... or TRIED. It brought an ambitious story, expanded on gameplay, a more diverse soundtrack and introduced online multiplayer. (plus the remastered graphics are outstanding). By the third game, no one thought "this is the game to surpass", they simply let the king pass. So, enjoy what is to come while it lasts, spartan. I wish i could live in the golden gaming era for another 100 years...
Dang, you did really well on the Warthog Run at the end. I've seen many people run out of time, but the timing was perfect and cinematic here! I remember the first time I did it still very clearly. :D Absolutely can't wait for Halo 2, it's gonna knock your socks off. Personally, I think it's best to just play the original 3 games in a row before diving into extra stuff, but others may differ on that opinion. (There is a bonus little joke scene if you beat Halo CE on Legendary and you do get to see Sgt. Johnson there). P.S. I know you've already seen plenty of discussion on the Remaster vs. Original for Halo: CE, but for Halo 2, I think most people agree that the remaster is the best way to go the whole time (especially because of the cutscenes). I love the OG version of Halo 2, but the Anniversary version is so well done that I feel it's a best first presentation for new players.
While not required reading, the First Strike novel takes place between CE and 2 and shows how Chief gets away from the rings remains and how he ends up where Halo 2 begins.
I swear the soundtrack bugged out at the end. I think it played in an earlier scene and just kept playing in error in the background of the actual score that was meant to be playing

What's really useful in the Pillar of Autumn, both at the start and the end of the game, are the directional signs painted on the floor that point the way to key areas (Cryo, Armoury, Bridge etc). They're even colour coded.
Pretty clean run, especially doing the warthog segment at the end in one go. Incidentally, the reason the shotgun was working on the hunters from the front is they have a small weak spot on front in CE. It's covered under the shield when they're crouching and only partially showing when they're moving, but you can get them to expose it for a 1hk with the shotty or pistol if you bait their shield bash. That's removed in the later games though - the devs realized they had too many weaknesses in CE.
30:13 i think it was this game i learned about jump/crouching just after you leave the ground you push the crouch button, and it makes it easier to land on higher items. i used it in this game, and L4D2. can't wait to see your Halo 2 game play!
Absolutely EPIC and a cinematic first time warthog run to boot! A friendly tip for you - those jumps in the engine room you were struggling with can be navigated using a "crouch jump" where you jump then crouch whilst in the air. This gives you the extra height you need to get back onto the upper walkways. Things for next time :)
Not sure if you noticed but the music was a little glitched during the last cutscene :( Tends to happen often unfortunately. Either way, I'm so excited for you to experience Halo 2!! Get ready!!!
Finishing the Warthog run first try, with 30 seconds left on the clock, is impressive. I must've flipped the hog over like 20 times my first run, then ran out of time. Also those jumps unto the exhaust are like a right of passage for half of the Halo players. The other half got lucky and picked the side with the path that goes all the way to the third floor first.
"I just can't not use the shoty it's just too effective." Fun Fact about shotguns: The US military started using them in World War 1, because they were very effective against the enemy in trenches. They were even nicknamed "the trench sweeper." They were so effective in fact that Germany protested their use calling their use a "war crime" under the Hague Conventions for causing "unnecessary suffering." This coming from the country that was using chemical weapons like "Mustard Gas" during the war. The protest didn't work.

Personally this is one of my favorite levels. I used to play this level with one of my cousins when we were young. Right were we got to the warthog run, we'd take separate cars and would race of who would get to the longsword ship. Good times... Well cant wait for you to start Halo 2. Let the journey continue.
Congrats on beating CE! The perfect followup is to now react to a veteran doing a speedrun on legendary. They're just a tad over 1 hour. It'll blow your mind.
If you ever decide to get into the lore side of Halo (books, comics, etc - that are all canon), there's a whole military soap opera plot surrounding the Elite and grunt you had to liberate your elevator upwards from 💀
I've really enjoyed this playthrough but boy oh boy did you make things harder on yourself throughout this run! Using the shotgun to shoot the Hunters in their heavily armoured face; not realising which enemies were weak to plasma weapons; not understanding how the needler worked as far as getting a critical mass of needles in... some interesting tactical choices!
Lol, you will love Halo 2! Maybe..🤣😳💀 at least you won't have to wait years for the next game to be teased or released! Hopefully you'll play the prequel Halo Reach at some point. And Halo 3 ODST! Arguably the best story fsp of all time! It takes place during the events of and between Halo 2 & 3. Best Music of the entire series!!! Both of those !

@@PhoenixNat It's one of the many many screw ups with the remaster, and I think there is another post credit scene that gets dropped in Halo 3 too, because they didn't include the credits at the end of the game. Luckily, we are on UA-cam, so you should be able to find them on here. As a side note, these games are from a different era, and all came with instruction manuals, that laid out the basic plot, there is context missing from the start of the game because of it. In Halo CE it was the explanation of the war with the Covenant, and the fact that they don't know where Earth is, so whenever humans are forced to retreat, they do a blind hyperspace jump in a random direction, so as not to lead the Covenant back to another human colony or Earth itself. After the destruction of the planet Reach, the Pillar of Autumn jumps away and finds itself near a mysterious ring world. Halo 2, the manual (and the booklet "Conversations from the Universe) mentions 2 new Covenant species, (Brutes and Bugs) recently assimilated into the collective, but it has caused tensions, particularly with some of the Elites, who consider themselves honorable warriors, and don't understand why other races get conquered and forced to join the Covenant, with the Brutes getting rapid elevation in the ranks, yet the war against humanity is one of total extermination. But as good little soldiers, they still follow the will of the Prophets, the ruling species. It's knowledge that was readily available to original Xbox owners, but is lost on new gamers.

One thing I want to mention before you start Halo 2 anniversary, is at the start of the game, you're going to see a ship in some clouds. Just tap once and the game really begins. That cutscene is a spoiler (kinda) for Halo 5. Just tap one time though, and Halo 2 anniversary starts.

I would have a hard time ranking them personally. It's certainly true that it is the lowest in terms of production quality/scale, but Halo: CE established several of the classic motifs in the series and is very, very nostalgic to me. This era MIDI style music in general holds a special place in my heart because of its respective era of games. Sonically it feels like home to me. All of the Halo soundtracks are great regardless, in my opinion. Though I will admit, Halo 3 has my favorite 2 tracks! :D

It's a bug. I've seen it happen to several other people as well. It only affects remaster though it doesn't happen if you play with the OG soundtrack.

Definitely didn’t see any after credits stuff and I didn’t skip anything, it just faded to the sky and shoved me back to the main menu
