    Very beautiful pieces. It feels like early Rachmaninoff with the denseness of Brahms. Perhaps that is a little bit of what makes up Bowen's style.

    I wonder if York Bowen was paying homage to Brahms in these, with a certain Brahmsian feel in the first dance, a reference to Brahms Op 119 no 1 at the start of the second dance, and a feeling of Op 119 no 4 in the third dance

      I was thinking the same, some of the passages really remind me of brahms
