I was a student at OU during this time, and I missed the first quarter because I was so hungover from the night before. I turned it on and saw Nebraska up 14-0 and people around me were already talking trash on Heupel saying this game was too big for him but they were soon silenced.
I’ll never forget that season! My dad was an OU Alum, 50s! I’m an OU Alum, 80s! We, me, dad, w my wife and youngest brother, were at every important game that year except the Orange Bowl….what a season!
I was 17yo, my best friend and I sat in the student section that day and once we were there, there was no leaving. The aisles were packed with standing fans the entire game and I have never seen that again to this day. The game itself, rushing the field, the amazing feeling of it afterwards. It will always be the best game I've ever attended.
I remember this game it was a great game. I was 16 years old and had to listen to it on the radio because I was in trouble abd had Saturday school. But I was definitely not bored being able to listen to the game. You should upload the Texas game from 2000 I still love that game.
I was a student in Norman at the time. I lived on East Brooks. My girlfriends dad and stepmother came down, parked at my place and we walked to the game together. Good times.
Mr. Mac, appreciate you coming through once again w/ the vintage OU vs NU. I know there is a a game coming up against the Cornhuskers in Norman this year to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the game of the century of 1971. Since NU opted for the Big 10 it is a study in stark contrast in terms of how the football fortune has completely reversed for NU and OU. But hen I kinda knew NU would have no chance against the likes of Penn State, Michigan and Ohio State when competing for the top notch recruits.
Josh was a better QB than Spencer. He didn't have as good of an arm, but he was the smartest QB OU has had in my lifetime. He handled pressure unbelievably well.
I love that you're doing classics! Suggestion. Could you upload a little of the pregame talk? Maybe just between the announcers or if gameday is there. I like being able to hear how people then perceived OU heading into that days game. Just a thought. Love your work
I was SO happy for that 2000 Oklahoma Sooner Team taking home the National Championship! The Oranges 🍊 on the field after the pick 6 was reminiscent of the Big 8 days!
What's crazy is that none of these OU players had a notable career in the NFL. Marshall played a few years for Green Bay but otherwise it was mostly just backups and journeymen in the NFL level. I was 23 years old when this happen, and I knew OU was good when they beat #12 KSU and #10 Texas, but I didnt know how good they were until this game. To come back and win after being down 14-0, I knew in that moment that OU was going to win the national championship. What great memories.
I would love i dont know if you know or have the sooner magic vhs for this entire season that u could get ahold of or put together but that was the greatest videos i have ever seen keep up the great videos
I was setting in the north end zone most of the TD's were in the south. when the announcer said how long has it been you've seen the fans storm the field and take down the goal post I say never we are not OSU.
Was ou back after that win? They were for awhile, but later sank back into the Average to Above average Pack. Will they return to the days Challenging for a "Natty" every season is still left to be Answered.
