I bought the Sparkle & Co low odor base liquid and their Solidify to try for those pesky dark dips that I love. I JUST used it yesterday and can say, I LOVE IT!!!! What is best for long lasting manis? My hands are in water a lot at work. If I go to a professional, their dips last 2-3+ weeks. If I do my own, using Beetles or other more expensive liquids, they start chipping within days and I have to redo one or two nails at a time to get any life out of my mani. Yes, I'm careful to not get any liquids on my skin and yes, I seal the free edge. Help? Thanks!

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  2 роки тому +1

      Hi there! So sorry to hear about your chipping issues 💗 I know how frustrating that can be!! I actually just shared a video on how to prevent chipping if you’re interested. It sounds like you’re doing a great job with having a clean application and sealing it all in. It may just be that you need more strength for your busy lifestyle ☺️ I would suggest building up an apex and focusing on where you’re experiencing the cracks. During the video I show me building an apex on my round nails and also an apex for square shapes that deal with corners chipping. Hopefully this helps! 💗💗

      @@SipAndDip Thank you for your reply. I did watch that video. Thank you for that! I do build an apex with clear powder. Better than the professionals have! Oh really?? That’s interesting!! Have you tried doing a layer of the base liquid, let it dry, then begin your normal dip process? Doing a layer of dip base (letting dry), then another layer of base, then dip, can slow down the drying process for that first layer. I hope that made sense 😆🙈

      I’m so sorry to hear about your dip flu 🥺💗 I recently tried out Color my World dip’s odorless liquids and they were great!! The base is slow drying and thin. The top coat you can do 2 layers so you still get the shine but without the odor 👏🏼 here is the link if you want to check it out! I believe my discount code is still active, not commissioned just savings 💗 code CHELSEA10
      You’ll still need to use your other activator though 🙂

      @@SipAndDip I'm so glad I saw this comment about Color My World odorless liquids. I'm new to dipping. I am a baby boomer and have rarely gotten my nails professionally done, and have been so frustrated with regular nail polish chipping 3 days after applying that I hardly ever bothered. As I've gotten older my nails have become prone to splitting. I am needing to do something to protect them and I discovered dip nail. After a lot of research and watching a couple of your videos along with a couple others (yours are the best :)) I decided to try out an Azure Beauty kit that is for $9.99. It lasted 2 weeks before chipping, but I knew what I had done wrong on that nail. I really like the look and strength of dip nails! I've done two applications now and have discovered a bit of sensitivity to the fumes: light-headed and a bit of post-nasal, which doesn't surprise me cause I am sensitive to chemicals. I have since been on the hunt for other alternatives and watched this video. Wasn't liking the fact that the top coat wasn't so great with Sparkle and CO and found shipping for one bottle of Mani Boss 2 in 1 to be outrageous. Seeing your comment on Color my World odorless and your view that they were good has given me confidence to take the plunge to try them. I figure I can still use the Azure Beauty activator for now. Also, planning on getting a fume respirator mask just the same. I just think it's worth using no matter how low odor a product is. I figure there still are fumes even if you can't detect it.

      @@gittasmith1579 I am so happy you are giving color my world’s odorless a try!! 🥳 it’s so perfect to help with any sort of odor sensitivity. I especially like that it’s slow drying which is great for beginners + designs, plus the top coat is able to do 2 coats which means high shine 🙌🏼

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  2 роки тому

      So the activator isn’t usually the culprit for the odors. Normally it’s the base + top coat with the strong smell. Sparkle and CO’s activator is sometimes scented like vanilla and really pleasant! You can mix and match any activator with low odor base + top coats as well 💖

    I wear Kiara Sky dip powder and Makartt gel base and top. For some reason no one ever shows the KS powders and I find them good quality. I rarely have to buff my nails. I started with that brand and just stayed with it. Many of the other companies charge shipping so I haven't bought from them, especially since I'm pleased with KS. If they start selling through Amazon I would likely buy from them, too, based on all the recommendations.

      I haven’t tried any Makartt products (besides files) yet but I have definitely seen lots of people love them! 🥰 the very first dip powder that I bought was KS. Manyyyy years ago 🤣 but honestly I had such a bad experience that I almost gave up on dipping 😅🙈 the glitter to clear ratio was so awful and the solid pink I chose was so cloudy and patchy. I ended up getting rid of it and haven’t tried them since. I do wonder if it was a fluke or if things have changed since then. I just haven’t gone back to try 😆 I’m so glad you love it and have found your holy grail products 🙌🏼 that is truly half the battle lol!

    My brush hardened after using the base… what did I do wrong?

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  2 роки тому +1

      Oh no!! I’m sorry to hear that! 💗💗💗
      It sounds like your base liquid got contained. It can be from lots of different things unfortunately 😣
      One reason is because dip powder got on the brush and returned to the bottle. To prevent this I use a stiff scrub brush after each layer is dried. I also wipe my brush off on a dry napkin (front and back) before returning it to the bottle each time.
      It could also be from it touching your skin (oils) or some other contaminate getting on the brush.
      You could try to replace just the brush to fix it. But sometimes if the liquid is contaminated inside the bottle then it will just harden a new brush. Some dip powder kit systems also sell a brush saver that you can try. I haven’t had any luck with them but it’s worth a shot!
      Good luck ! 💗💗 (I have a dip liquids care video too if you’d like to see what I’m saying with wiping the brush/dusting off)
