A bad recording will still sound bad in 16-bit integer or 32-bit float - so that part is not impacted. Thank you for this video! I went to Best Buy asking the employees how to buy a transmitter so my DJI Mic 2 could work with my iPhone. I didn't know it could work with just Bluetooth. Thank you so much!
This is great news, eventually when it's released on its own it will make for a great stand alone iPhone mic - and if the audio is that critical to the project just use the inbuilt 32bit Float. I suspect GoPro have blocked it working, 'cos if it did then there would be no need for their media mod cage/case/thing anymore. Someone in DJI land, sat down and made the decision of making the best Drones, the best Vlogging camera, the best Action Camera and now the best Wireless mics... For example, how much of yours and Paul Messner's gear is now from DJI? 🙏🏽
I use kit from DJI, Insta360 & Sony. My Sony mirrorless cameras are still the ones that shoot the best visuals and for my pro work. Hard to compete with full frame mirrorless. But DJI is dominating the lightweight consumer market.
This is interesting because if you have a DJI Neo, you can use the mic to record audio (voiceover) to the iPhone while using the Neo controller app, and it will cancel out the sound of the drone. And you won’t need a wired connect to the mic.
Thanks for testing this combination, I never even thought it could connect with bluetooth to the iphone or other camera. Really good news, I don't like plugging stuff into the phone as it's a pain, but bluetooth audio that's really nice. I'm so glad I bought the creator combo now. I wonder if that's also true of the original pocket 2 wireless mic.
does it work with the camera app the phone comes with? I need to use that app because its the only one that lets you zoom between all 3 lenses while filming
The 3 lenses are a gimmick, Everyone says use x1 lens only for max quality, the x2 and x5 are cropped preset. if using BMapp you will see that there is only ONE sensor, and the presets are there as shortcuts etc, but if you use the magnifier, you just dial in amount of zoom wanted, but optical zoom is up to 2 x only after that its digital zoom. Will be getting the Tilta Nucleus II for zoom and focus control, so an expensive and only way of getting a smooth zoom, but focus pull main feature. Wish BM app had apples Cinematic mode featuring depth bokeh feature as that would be awesome, but that is AI based and sort of auto so would render manual settings as over ridden, and the whole point of the BM app is manual exposure controls etc hence the need for ND filters toto virtual F stop light reduction as apple lens is fixed at full open aperture design. So have to use both apps. So if zoom really wanted beyond 2x or more natural wide angle, then FREWELL have the sharpest add on lenses, but my bill is getting as high as the phone itself with all my addons, as I wont be using this phone for phone use, purely as a minimalistic camera rig to compliment my BMPCC cameras and ACE PRO's, and 360 cameras

Any setting that needs to be adjusted to hear the audio back through the phone speaker with the recorded clip on black magic app after the clip is shot? Only way I’ve been able to hear what i recorded is to disconnect the mic from the iPhone and it plays no problem. Is this normal?
This is great to know. One thought, what if you have your iPhone that was paired with the DJI mic, then startup the OSMO 3, would it pair again with the OSMO, or would you get into an unpairing, repairing cycle?
Great test. I'm a new owner of the Mic 2 and starting to play around. It seems if you want to use the receiver, you can't plug in the USB-C dongle into the iPhone if it has a case on it. The case is too thick and the USB-c dongle is too short. Unless I'm missing something about how to do it.

it works with the action 4 now? It didn't last week, did you update the firmware? I'm from County Antrim in Northern Ireland, kinda north east area. The bit that's in a "its complicated relationship" with the rest of the island and Great Britain
Can you record both on the phone AND onboard, so you can use the onboard audio (which probably are better due to BT compression), and use the BT sound for synchronization?
Very useful, thank you! I bough only the DJI-mic transmitter and I thought I can't use it without a receiver in order to be able to pair it with my iPhone 13 Pro. But with the Blackmagic Camera app it really worked. Awesome tip! And how did you manage to enhance the voice with Adobe Podcast? Is there a way to synchronise the new audio clip with the video? What app/program did you use to do that? Cheers
I can use with iPhone 13 Pro with davinci app. if open in media in davinci app they have no sound , I have to save to camera roll to hear sound. But with camera app of iPhone it doesn’t work
@@stevestechemporium I mean with resolve audio isolation, almost anything sounds good. So the Bluetooth wouldn’t be an issue. Syncing up in post CAN be a pain, but it’s not that big a deal

@stevestechemporium: how is it with auto reconnect - to IPhone - or OSMO Action 3/4??? Do you always have to reconnect again? And - onboard recording of the Mic - how long, which fileformat - how to get it out of the Mic and what is the Batterylive? Any chance to test with GoPro 12 via Bluetooth?
Nice review. Could you try it without the dead cat? Especially indoors, it’s not needed unless windy. I’m guessing that’s why the comments say it’s muddy. Oh, and did you activate the onboard noise reduction? Test that on/off 😊👍🏻
Just purchased this as the Pocket 3 combo ... and DAMN I'm as impressed by this as I am with with the camera - had heard nothing about that it could do 32 bit float either internally or to the Pocket, I'm looking at my Rode Wireless Go and ME and wondering if I even need these (will do a sound quality test later to see... though for quick shoot and scoot using the default iPhone camera will probably still use one of the Rodes (which will use the audio input from the Rodes)
I did a similar test on my channel, and must say the blutooth audio quality is way lower than when plugged in. I hope they can fix it via firmware update.
This looks great and sounds good. I'm curious what the actual audio quality (sample rate etc..) is compared to just recording internally. Reviews of seen of the Instamic when used via blue tooth were poor compared internal recording.
Can you adjust the volume output on the standalone mic? Also, what bluetooth standard does it use? Also also, how does it sound in high wind with the deadcat?
I know you can't use the internal 32bit float audio without the receiver or other DJI device (which is a shame), but can you set the gain via the video app there?
It is great to have the ability to record straight to a phone wirelessly…. If someone is a perfectionist, they can also take the audio from the DJI 2 mic and sync it to the video in post, if you don’t like the Bluetooth audio.
I need your help please. I paired the mic to the phone, and used the black magic camera app to select the DJI mic as your video instructed. I made a short recording and can see the meters indicating recording using the DJI mic, but can't hear any playback out of the iPhone. When I open the file separately outside the black magi app the sound is there, but I get no audio when previewing the clip from the black magic app. What am I doing wrong? Is there some way to set up the black magic app previews to play the audio that I am missing? Advise. I also discovered that mapping the audio source to the DJI mic using the black magic app does not extend that DJI source mapping to the native iPhone camera app. Recording using the native iPhone app ignores that mapping and there is no apparent setting in the iOS to make that mapping to the DJI mic to happen. If you are aware of any way to make the native iPhone camera app inherit the DJI source mapping please let me know. It would seem obvious that Apple would provide a way to accomplish that mic source mapping in settings, so perhaps I am just not finding it.
Hi Mark. I think you might need to disconnect the mic to hear the playback. If it’s connected the phone can think it’s a pair of headphones and so it tries to output audio via Bluetooth.
Question here, is it possible to pair 2 mics at the same time like you would using a camera, with 2 mics and 1 reciver? To record lets say an interview or talking vlog with 2 people?
I tried this, do you notice the sound quality is more "microphoney" when connecting to other devices than pocket 3? When I see others connecting it to pocket 3 it sounds much clearer
When they release the Action 5 with blue tooth, it will be fait a complit 🤣 Could you try; turning on the mic, pressing and holding the record button until the power button light turns green, then press the record button again to start receding and see if that does noise cancelling as is without adobe ? Let me know, thanks a mil 🍀 Hey, perhaps a Mini 5 Pro will have voice control, eg. bank left down 20m straight on, climb 50 banking right, tilt gimbal down 10°, really smooth out the bumps 🤔
are you using the iphone native video recording app? in my iphone 13, the native video app will not record video, nor will irecord and I've seen instructions for me to use a non-native iphone app for audio or video with audio recording. is the iphone 15 better in this regard or do you use a different app for video w audio?

Hi, I am considering purchasing this mic, but Djibouti says “when connected via Bluetooth, you can’t utilise internal recording or noise cancelling”. Is still the case?
I believe that DJI had intentionally delayed the release so that they could get rid of the current market stock. As long as they are satisfied with the sold units of dji mic 1, they will release the mic 2.

Connected to iPhone 15pro max using Blackmagic app. Mic is selected as audio source & audio meter is show it’s picking up audio. But on playback no audio what so ever!!! Any pointers?
It's because there are no "Mic" controls for the mic when connected to the iPhone. There is a "Noise Cancelling" button on the mic itself, which sounds like the fool didn't turn on.. The "receiver" for these Mics don't do a whole lot, accept adjust Gain/Volume Output, and let you change a few setting on the Mics.
a bit late but the way I would use it is to connect it to your phone and simultaneously back up record on the mic 2 itself, so you can sync the back up with the horrible bluetooth audio
I would recommend always use the direct "backup" recording instead of relying upon Bluetooth. Bluetooth recording will be more than adequate for a sync later but the on-device recording will be of higher quality - just requires extra steps in post.
What were you using for audio before the DJI mic, because that sounds 100000x better

There's speculation that the DJI Mic 2 might be able to connect to the Action 4 directly (no receiver). If that's the case, I'll buy both.
I’m hoping this will be the case!
@@stevestechemporium Fingers crossed. Honestly I am already very happy they released an official 3.5 mm adapter so I can directly plug in my tiny mic without the need for a cage. Ultralight baby.
Uhhh put the mic on the inside and magnet outside to avoid room sound and wind.
I've just bought one and finding its not great audio using the moment app. Did you treat the audio? thanks for the video.
Good question! I would assume that it shouldn’t switch if it’s already linked to a device. But I haven’t tested it.
What magnetic device are you wearing to stick the mic to your chest? Really cool.
Great test. I'm a new owner of the Mic 2 and starting to play around. It seems if you want to use the receiver, you can't plug in the USB-C dongle into the iPhone if it has a case on it. The case is too thick and the USB-c dongle is too short. Unless I'm missing something about how to do it.
Tried it wit Action 4 and works great. Not sure about it’s water resistance level. Where in Ireland are you from just curious? Love your videos very clear
it works with the action 4 now?
Cheers
Sadly the DJI Mic 2 doesn’t connect to the iPhone 13 Pro Max…but still great that it does to the 15
Yeah it’s a shame. There’s going to have to be a list of compatible devices
Why not? Does it have to do with a Bluetooth version or is because
Of the firmware?
I can use with iPhone 13 Pro with davinci app. if open in media in davinci app they have no sound , I have to save to camera roll to hear sound. But with camera app of iPhone it doesn’t work
Is that definitely true?
Must with app?
😊
Can you make a comparison with the Bluetooth to the internal recording???
Should have tried that! The internal recording will definitely be better
@@stevestechemporium I mean with resolve audio isolation, almost anything sounds good. So the Bluetooth wouldn’t be an issue. Syncing up in post CAN be a pain, but it’s not that big a deal
The Adobe Audio Enhancement sounds unbelievable. Sounds like a voice over you did in post production. Which it is kind of, but with AI and not with a studio mic. :)
Test that on/off 😊👍🏻
Does this work with the native iPhone camera app, I don’t want to have to use the black magic app
Nice! So would this work with in Insta360 x3? Connect via the airpods option maybe.
Yup, tested it last night!
@@stevestechemporium amazing! So did you connect it through the AirPods option on the x3? That would be a game changer for me. 🤩
I got it to work with the iPhone 14pro, and insta360 ace pro
Is this Video Recorded on the Iphone 15? quality looks amazing
Is the iPhone BT audio improved with the new DJI mic 2 update?
Just purchased this as the Pocket 3 combo ... and DAMN I'm as impressed by this as I am with with the camera - had heard nothing about that it could do 32 bit float either internally or to the Pocket, I'm looking at my Rode Wireless Go and ME and wondering if I even need these (will do a sound quality test later to see... though for quick shoot and scoot using the default iPhone camera will probably still use one of the Rodes (which will use the audio input from the Rodes)
holy hell, whats the AI enchancement widget
BRILLIANT!!
What do you think of the Bluetooth audio? Obviously not as good as a proper wireless connection but I thought it was useable.
Actually a good review and to the point with additional info
I’m stuck between this mic and the razer seiren mic a comparison vid would be great but this review was enough for me
I did a similar test on my channel, and must say the blutooth audio quality is way lower than when plugged in. I hope they can fix it via firmware update.
Do you need to pair it again to the pocket 3? After you use it with your phone?
This looks great and sounds good. I'm curious what the actual audio quality (sample rate etc..) is compared to just recording internally. Reviews of seen of the Instamic when used via blue tooth were poor compared internal recording.
Do you need to repair to the Osmo once done with the iphone?
really enjoying your content - question, I want to get the pocket 3 with the mic, is this the same mic that can connect to the phone?
Yeah it’s the DJI Mic 2 that comes with the Pocket 3 Creator combo pack.
@@stevestechemporium well, I was on the fence about buying that, but now I definitely have to do it
Can you adjust the volume output on the standalone mic?
Also, what bluetooth standard does it use?
Also also, how does it sound in high wind with the deadcat?
I know you can't use the internal 32bit float audio without the receiver or other DJI device (which is a shame), but can you set the gain via the video app there?
The audio you had at the beggining was awesome, what do you use?
Cool, but I’m surprised it’s took this long for someone to make a Bluetooth enabled mic. That AI enhancement was a nice improvement
There have been other options in the past but any I tried were terrible
Can you listen to music on AirPods Pro while using the dji mic to record video simultaneously?
How are you finding the battery life on the 15 Pro
A lot better than my 13 Pro
IMO quality is not good enough without AI. If I connect using reciever quality will be better?
When they release the Action 5 with blue tooth, it will be fait a complit 🤣
Could you try; turning on the mic, pressing and holding the record button until the power button light turns green, then press the record button again to start receding and see if that does noise cancelling as is without adobe ? Let me know, thanks a mil 🍀
Hey, perhaps a Mini 5 Pro will have voice control, eg. bank left down 20m straight on, climb 50 banking right, tilt gimbal down 10°, really smooth out the bumps 🤔
are you using the iphone native video recording app? in my iphone 13, the native video app will not record video, nor will irecord and I've seen instructions for me to use a non-native iphone app for audio or video with audio recording. is the iphone 15 better in this regard or do you use a different app for video w audio?
Thank you so much for sharing ❤❤❤
Apparently the UK version of this mic isn't the same as the US. There's no blinking blue light when you hit the link button.
¡Hola!
Really handy tip thank you! And if it were me using the mic out in adverse weather i would probably keep the transmitter in my pocket and connect up a lav miv so that the mic has a better chance of surviving the rain. I am off to try to connect it to my insta360! Thanks!
Good point! And you can get waterproof lav mics too
What mic are you using in the first 2 min of the video?
Tested successfully with a Samsung S22 Ultra using the native camera app. 🙌
Can you share how did you pair it? I couldn't get it to work with my S22 Ultra :(
@@WanderEats I just paired it like I would pair any bluetooth earbuds. I put the microphone in pairing mode (blinking blue LED), and the microphone was listed on the phone's available devices.
Love the vid. Have this kit… as yet untested. Can you steer me towards the Black Magic app please. I cannot find it. On iPhone. Loving your work.
Cancel. Found it. Thank you tho
Where can I buy this. There’s no on DJI website
Hi, what is the name of this application to be able to record audio with the DJI mic 2 microphone with iPhone?
Hi, I am considering purchasing this mic, but Djibouti says “when connected via Bluetooth, you can’t utilise internal recording or noise cancelling”. Is still the case?
Thank god i waited for the DJI Mic 2 and did not buy the Rode Wireless Pro! Cant wait until they release the Receiver & 2X TX Set!
Yeah I’ve always preferred the DJI mics, I’ve got two sets I use for interviews for my commercial work.
I believe that DJI had intentionally delayed the release so that they could get rid of the current market stock. As long as they are satisfied with the sold units of dji mic 1, they will release the mic 2.
Hi, I have a problem. When I connect the DJI MIC 2 via bluetooth and open the Blackmagic cam, I cannot use the noise canceling mode. Do you found this problem like me ?
Is it possible to connect a mic to the iPhone, and have airpods while monitoring the mic through live listen? So I can hear the mic through the airpods?
Great video. However, after trying it, it appears that the mike only records one channel and does not support stereo sound.
Well… could this really work for outdoor weather conditions?
Sounds very good! Ordered! )
Connected to iPhone 15pro max using Blackmagic app. Mic is selected as audio source & audio meter is show it’s picking up audio. But on playback no audio what so ever!!! Any pointers?
Works on the insta360 x3 though
You have to disconnect the mic to hear the audio playback, as otherwise the phone thinks there’s a mic connected.
@@stevestechemporium thanks. That sorted it! 👍🏼
Can it work with instagram live on iPhone?
I was wondering about if it would work with the action 4. 👍
It does
sounds bad to me. I am not sure you've recordered the proper quality without receiver - sounds like really bad mic.
Wait, has DJI released a New mic with 32bit float recording? Cos I can't see it anywhere online
It’s currently only shipping with the Pocket 3. They haven’t released it separately yet
@stevestechemporium oh I see, really hoped they release one with a physical menu button
