Hi po! Just wanna share…
Contemporary/Modern is sort of a break from the Classical Era (Ballet). That’s why there are steps that might look similar. Contemporary dance has a wider range of steps and not everything is based on ballet. Choreographers have more freedom to put their own style in the dance. They continuously explore new ways to express themselves and their visions.
I’m not really an expert but I’ve been doing contemporary dance for years. Defining it can be quite tricky because it’s still evolving.
