The rock you were standing in Lal Bagh is called Peninsular Gneiss. It’s one of the oldest rocks of the world 3.5 billion years old almost as old as age of the earth.

I was in Bengaluru in the year 1999 for 3 months only. Stayed at Dairy chowk near to Lalbagh garden. Numbers of bollywood film was shooted out in that park. "Badal kuyn garaj ta hain" bolly song of film Betab was shooted at glass house. There was a big botanical watch maintained by hmt watch division, dont know is it still exist or not. Must watch the song by searching
