Love the Squash videos keep them up. I saw JP playing in an exhibition match with Shahier Razik at my club earlier this year and he's still passionate about the game. He can still dominate the T.
JP helped inaugurating the modern -or current- style of squash. Many eons ago there were the wooden racquets; then the smallhead composite racquets and the era of Jahanghir Khan. Then the larger racquets and an era dominated by Jansher and his grueling attritional game. Then came the larger and lighter racquets and the era dominated by Nicol and Power. Nicol was the continuation of the attritional style of squash, JP was the first to play the daring, creative, attacking shotmaking game of today.
Great video - Fantastic shot maker would have been interesting watching a match between him and Jansher or Jahangir at the there relative career peaks. We can only dream Very enjoyable Thanks
There is a comment from Robert Edward about this. He said that beyond some stage of the match, jahangir pace would break jonathon racquet skils and control. I believe in this, but it's always very difficult to compare players from different era's.
its actually funny that shabana says that he learned a lot from playing jonathon because if you look at shabana's game since hes been number one his game looks a lot like jonathon's. Before when shabana was lingering in the teens of the rankings he was just a shooter, now his game is more patent and he looks for kills rather then trying to create them out of nowhere similar to jonathon.
Only now did I realise my mistake, sorry ;) But no, I'm not doing either. Mistakes happen, even to educated people, on account of various factors. You hostility is forgiven.
i think jp's raquet skills were better but movement is more important in squash, and thats where jansher wins (dont know anything about jahangir tho so cant comment on him)
@Adrian19Adrian19 if we just open our minds and see....then we will undertand jonathan power was a great player and jansher was too.....but if we look at the encounters we see that power won 2 out of 12 matches from jansher.............this proves that jansher was a better player than power .....but ofcourse the match between them was very tense.........sorry
@TheLeipster Props to JP, but he does not have the name recognition of a Sampras, Agassi, Nadal, or Federer. Hate to say it, tennis is the king of racquet sports.
hahaha, what an idiotic comment, he never played jahangir and often beat Jansher. as far as I'm concerned he is the greatest player of all time...on his day no one could beat him....take a look at the 2005 Bermuda final! he played a brand of attacking squash that revolutionized the game and influenced today's shotmakers like Ramy and Shabana
JP inspired me, thanks to him i'm improving every day
squash for life

Im quite new to the scene, but from what i know Jonathan is a great croudpleaser, which makes him more fun to watch than most other top10 players.

Power is the John McEnroe of squash.
should have been an olympic champion

@mrbobevans, because it's easier to set a net on grass and put the lines by strewing a flour than biuld good squash court ;)
Zee do u have any lengthy clips or rallies of Jahangir & Jahansher games.
I enjoyed it a lot. seemed a little bit biast, but just a great video.
need to make a john white video !
leggeeennnddddddd fo sure
shot at 1:00 and 1:10 are nice

@SQUASHMAN474 won against jansher ? he just won twice in 12 meetings. 1 world open and 1 british open compared to 8 and 6. Is there even a contest ?
The description says he's North American, isn't he Canadian?
what is the name of the song?
it's the magician, not the wizard btw great video
ok, JP's the man, but did he just say "close your eyes and watch this" in the intro??? lol...

You therefor should have said 'would', gramaticaly speaking.
