1. Substrate - Use pure Orchid bark or Orchid mix. Do not use pure soil to avoid root rot. 2. Location - Place in an area with bright indirect light and highly humid places. No direct sunlight. 3. Watering - Bromeliad Guzmania is considered an air plant. It does not get nutrients and water from the roots, they only use their roots as an anchor. They get nutrients and water from the air, hence, humid places. You may put water in the center cup but not too much and you can also lighty mist the leaves so the water will run down to the cup. There's no need to water the substrate directly. Water once a week. 4. Roots - They use their roots only to anchor just like Orchids. 5. Container - You may use any type of container as long as you use the proper substrate for high aeration and to keep it well draining to avoid root rot. 6. Water Type - Preferably rain water, demineralized water or purified water.
Additionally, Bromeliad Guzmania only bloom once in their lifetime. Once they do, they'll die off but will shoot new ones called "pup" in the remainder of their life.
