I love how Zac started this character off in the first episode as this toxic captain who’s quick to blame everyone but himself before hitting us with the fact that Skipper is actually the parasite that attacks him. The fact that a brain parasite is more chill and nice than the original person it was hosting just adds more to the hilarity as well as the chemistry between these characters. It’s such a good move.
It's such a good, immediate twist. I always love Zac's characters and I really didn't vibe with his captain. I was kinda bummed about it until Skip was revealed, which made Skip a double treat lmao
Til we find out that Norman's personality is a result of the trauma of witnessing his superior killing dozens of cadets with poisoned champagne, and then putting him through memory alteration to make him forget about it, followed by being framed for that tragedy he can no longer remember as well as the murders of the Sisters of the Cosmic Veil (whom Skip outs as a bunch of con artists).
This is so silly but genuinely like I knew Zac was pretty but Skip is so hot it made me notice how hot Zac is as an actual human person 😂 “I put my boot on his shoulder and shoot straight down” fuck me up
Skip standing over Barry and staring at him while he slept, only to motion at himself when Barry opened his eyes as if to say, "Like what you see?" followed by running away is one of the funniest moments ever in D20 history.

I just realized that the name Norman probably came from Normal Man, because that was what he was (relative to the Starstruck universe), prior to skipification
I’m glad Norman skip Takamori slowly became more comprehensible as the story went on. His first words sounded like his mouth was filled with marshmallows 😂
How could you forget the absolute BEST Skip moment, of him decapitating the sheriff, propping his head on a cactus and then rolling a nat20 intimidation which causes all the police force of Baustin to fled town??? istg Zac first roleplays and then the dice gods reward that
I cannot love Skip any more. He's just a little slug man who didn't get to see the world. The first couple of episodes where he still struggles with language just lay me out because everyone else is working so well with it, especially Brennan with the NPCs. People just accept that Norman speaks weirdly but they roll with it. Such fun.
I love that Brennan and Zac built a Paul-Atreides-style space prince who doesn't want to be a leader but is thrust into the deep political ramifcations of the universe who is a LITERAL worm, such gorgeous non-humanoid-centrism
skip is probably my favorite of zac’s characters in d20. it plays to all his strengths. it’s ricky and gorgug’s goofiness, himboness; it’s lapin’s high status, calculating nature, and “i didn’t ask for this” vibes; it’s cumulus’ martial prowess and somewhat lack of/disregard for social cues; it’s zac’s own less-is-more improv style and d&d system mastery. it’s all of it!! i also adore that skip can really validly be read as queer by this point in the season. it doesn’t come up a ton but when it does, boy does that headcanon fit perfectly and add so much to the story. every single one of zac’s characters is wonderful, hilarious, and integral to their campaigns but. starstruck and skip have really allowed zac to SHINE. tldr skip supremacy thank you for coming to my ted talk
Skip supremacy! He’s probably my favourite d20 character for all the reasons you mentioned (it used to be Lapin, so maybe I just really enjoy how Zac plays high intelligence characters.)
I haven’t finished all the campaigns yet, but from what I’ve seen, I can say Starstruck is definitely my favorite, and I totally agree with Skip being Zac’s best character. All the characters this season have been great, but Skip, Margaret, and Gunny are phenomenal.
4:48 is the best, I love that he basically just walks into the room, motions at his outfit and then leaves - absolutely bewildering even the less intelligent crew members
Early episodes Skip is the funniest character in Dimension 20. Rick Diggins, Cody Walsh, Ian Prescott, Liam Wilhemina, they're all hall of famers. But Norman "Skip" Takamori is *transcendant*.
Oh man, if you make a part 2, you gotta include the end of the episode right before they leave Rec 97. Skip sees Norman on a wanted poster and just goes: "...My name is Norman Takamori.."
I like that the initial speech impediment isn’t played for laughs, the only jokes are about what he chooses to say. Zacs economical comedy really lends itself to making it funny without relying on ableism.
Didn't they give him an out with the voice by sid realising he never un-W-ed his tongue before he started talking? So after that he vould ease away from it
It would only be ableist if the reason for the voice was to imply he’s stupid or just because. But he’s a body being controlled by a slug. Of course he won’t sound quite right.
