    I would add another disadvantage to nuclear power. Because of its potential dangers, it’s subject to heaps of regulatory capture making it the most expensive and slowest energy source to build new capacity of. It takes approximately 20 years now to get a nuclear plant running; simply won’t work in todays economy

      The same argument applies to motorways, railways and hydroelectric stations, which are also expensive, slow to build and very safe. And the same objectors do their best to delay them even more with protests etc. Finland has just built a nuclear power plant which will be commissioned this year. Germany closed theirs down and now has to mine lignite (coal) again because the Russian gas not being supplied. The big advantage of nuclear is that you don't have to rely on potentially hostile countries for the fuel supply, unlike oil and gas, and renewable energy materials like lithium, rare earth elements and cobalt.

      @@karhukivi The problem is once a nation builds a nuclear power plant they are months away from a nuclear weapon. That’s the danger, dummy
