True. Sri lankas sinhelese housewives cook quite a few authentic curry dishes cooked in clay pots over slow fire. Tender jackfruit ( polos) curry properly seasoned , immerse in thick coconut milk , and cooked for over 3 hours over low fire( using firewood) is a heavenly dish. There's also an array of cooking methods and flavours highlighted when making dishes to go with rice, using scraped fresh coconuts or coconut milk.
I would say that the lamprais (the dish wrapped in a banana leaf) is a symbol of Sri Lanka's multi ethnic heritage. It was created by the Dutch Burgher (mixed Sri Lankan and Dutch) Eurasian community and in part based on the Indonesian lemper. It incorporates elements that emerged in the country's distinct ethnic groups and now eaten by all groups such as the frikadellar, cutlets and shrimp paste.

I think it's worth pointing out that Sri Lanka is a multi-ethnic country and despite historical and modern-day issues, Sri Lankan culture is "Sri Lankan" due to the cultural influences from the Sinhalese, Tamil, Moor, Malay and Burgher/Eurasian communities. Not to mention the other smaller groups like the indigenous Veddas, Chinese and Boras among others. Sri Lankan culture wouldn't be "Sri Lankan" culture without all of these groups.
