  • It must feel like everybody is making their own Ukulele strings? The truth is that as the Ukulele market develops; the people dealing with the most instruments on a day to day basis have searched high and low for the best option. In todays video we look at Joel Blechingers UKE LOGIC strings as well as our own Fluorocarbon strings (years in the making) and even Alex's own Rotosound Custom strings 'Ukes With Alex Strings'.

      @@SouthernUkuleleStore I have a concert Voyager strung with Savarez clear flurocarbon but they are a bit thick and hard for me to press down. I do mostly finger style chord melody and soft strummed jazzy chords on that uke... which ones would you recommend I try? I think I want a clean, bright, crystalline kind sound - like when you can hear each note in a chord.

      @@ukulelewoodshed6694 The soft tension pink strings Joel does would be good. They are the ones I used on a Kanile'a in the video.

      @@SouthernUkuleleStore I fully agree with you, Alex. About 2 years ago I bought some low tension high-g sets and I play them on my longneck soprano and concert. They are really great for chord melody jazzy stuff. My favourites. I couldn’t find much difference between the clear and pink version. I‘m happy to hear that they are now available at least in Europe (even not in EU ;-) ).

    I have a set of Joel’s Uke Logic low tension pinks on my mahogany concert. The beauty of them, besides their lovely clarity of sound, is that they’re so customizable. Perhaps I’ll try yours next, Alex! Ah, would that we could snap our fingers and our strings would magically change, yeh?

    Always impressed with what you guys are doing to further the options for players! My order is placed for a set of each and a cheeky extra low G string!
    One thing I'd add to website for Uke Logic is a few examples of when the soft Vs hard would be useful, maybe examples of playing styles. But love the new choices and going to try the pinks for the mellower, lower tension potential.

      Thank you very much.
      Joel has done some sound samples of the differences between them elsewhere. I may make a video about them for my channel way, way, way down the line. Thanks for the suggestion.

    Thanks for the super strings demo Alex. About 18 months ago I had Pro Logic S-LG-C strings sent from Joel to fit my Kala Super tenor. Beautiful sounding strings but the 1st A string started peeling on frets 2, 3 & 4 within 1 week & then snapped. The 2nd A string also wore down & started fraying within another week & eventually snapped too. Spoke with Joel by email who sent a new pack plus a Smoothwound Low G (30SW) which is great. Unfortunately the A strings again didn’t last long & they both snapped. The other strings were fine & have only just started to show signs of wear. Do you know if Joel has since had the A string improved in any way since the original problem….which I believe other players suffered as well? It really sounded beautiful at first but unfortunately, I wouldn’t buy again if there’s a chance of breakage within a couple of weeks. Loved the sound of the other strings you also played….including the nylon ones which really surprised me! 😊

    It would really be nice if someone would do a video of the lowest tension strings available

    • @SouthernUkuleleStore
      @SouthernUkuleleStore  10 місяців тому +1

      Totally depends on the size of your uke... uke logic soft tension or Worth CL strings are the lightest tension ive encountered and I have done videos on these strings before.

    Very interesting, I have an Anueue colour series concert with a low G, but finding that the tension is to slack on the low G, any suggestions would be very welcome.

      I've found the Fremont Solost and Worth CD-LG strings to be the most stable Concert Low G strings. If be fairly surprised if the Uke Logic 30SW wasn't up to the task as well.

    Would any of these be a good alternative to living water (high g) strings?

    This was another great video Alex. How would your strings compare with Freemont Blacklines? My wife and I currently use Blacklines on our Mango Grand Tenors. I don't mind a thick string of it is pliable.🙂

    • @SouthernUkuleleStore
      @SouthernUkuleleStore  3 роки тому +2

      I like fremonts but I'd be confident the ukes with Alex or Sus Fluorocarbon would be great. Joel's strings too but I don't have enough experience with each set to pick a preference

      @@SouthernUkuleleStoreThanks for the reply.
      I don't think I phrased my question right. I want to know specifically about the sound characteristics of Alex's Nylon set vs Blacklines.

    • @SouthernUkuleleStore
      @SouthernUkuleleStore  3 роки тому +1

      I think they are quite different to each other... my strings are fatter but not as stretchy as normal nylon strings. I would say a good point of reference would be the original Romero strings that came on the uke but not as tight on your hands.
      Hope that helps
