Can Segoe hear the other budgies? Our new budgie was serene & quick to learn to step up with millet. However, now that he can hear another budgie clearly elsewhere in the house he turns round & tries to bite. He's becoming untamed! :( He still likes to sit on shoulders/hands but will bite on hearing another budgie. My daughter says we have to take a step back by keeping them separate longer till he's completely tamed not to bite. What do you think? Postscript: Been to vet & the advice is: wait & see; it's a question of territory. Sometimes a budgie likes to dominate.

I have one yellow and one white budgie
My yellow budgie doesn't like eating and it is becoming really weak ..... he is not healthy at all

My white bird eats a lot and its getting fatter and fatter day by day and it also doesn't let my yellow bird to eat ....... and it sits in its food without letting my another bird eat the food and it eats the whole food..........
I am quite tensed about it....so pls can u help meeeeee....its urgent.......

Question: I have had my 2 budgies (3 originally, one died unexpectedly died around Christmas) and they are still not tame. I have worked hard, I think it might be because they are a little older (3) but I am not sure. Any advice?

You are right about budgies having distinct personalities. He was 3 months when he came. Now he's very tame & loves stalking us all for a rant, friendly & forever chatty-in English. However, he's not affectionate as kids would dream, if possible. A cuddle? Forget it. :) It's not an issue although a complimentary temperament is ideal. My family thought we knew how to spot gender but our almost all-white Australian budgie with a bit of blue like Segoe, as a newly weaned had a pink cere. No videos on Bobby yet. Now at 9 mths, his cere is still pink. It hasn't turned blue! Bobby behaves like a male, mounting objects when excited & imitating speech just like our male English budgie, Boris. ua-cam.com/video/TCThFk9BOQU/v-deo.html But is he female? Hi! I need help. I have a budgie named Max. He is 1 year 21/8. I got him in october last year. He is very nice, But he dont like when I pet him on his back or head. And if I take him out of the cage while on my hand, he often flyes away. What should I do to make him stay on my hand? ( sorry for bad enlgish, I am an 11 norwegian girl xD )

It's been since i got two new parakeets and they still don't like me at all & run away from me :(

I just got my parakeet Clover a new parakeet named Jasmine. Unfortunately she died a month later because of m cat. When she was here Clover became untrained. It is very annoying. He will not go near human hands. Would it be helpful to get a new female parakeet? how would I train him again if it is not helpful?
He looks like a clone of my Budgie O.o they are nearlly exactly the same except my one doesnt have the blue on his face and the black on his wings:P

That's not a male. The nose is pinkish brown. Look it up... blue nose means boy and pink means girl.
Wow you have had him for a week and he's already on your hand!! Mine took a month or so to get used on my hand! It must be because he is younger, my budgie is older with his black rings on his forehead. Your budgie is adorable! 😘

I recently watched some of your older videos and saw a nice grapevine looking perch on the left side of the cage. I can't seem to find one that looks quite like that one...perfect size! Where did you purchase it?

Segoe has proven to be a male. He is very young, so the cere may not be indicative yet. Plus his colorings may prevent him from getting a dark blue one as well.
+The Parakeet Perch this is me tech person I changed my UA-cam so I have a question how do you get a male and a female to mate if they keep fighting and how do you stop your parakeet from flying away while it's on your finger
When segou gets older if his nose is blue it is a male and when he is also older if his nose is brownish he is a female

i just brought home an English parakeet who looks a lot like this
my budgie shakes is one wing like that too, when I get my hand close, I'm working on hand taming, is that normal? is it just him being nervous?
It could just be birdie "nervousness", because Segoe and his wing are doing fine :-).
+The Parakeet Perch, he does better now, we do training sessions for about 20 min every day, he will eat millet from my hand in his cage, he gets excited when he sees the millet coming, but if I put my hand in his cage to clean or anything, without millet, he gets scared and flies, is that normal? should I do more of just my hand in the cage? I also tried to perch my finger with the millet but he backs up if my finger is too close.. any suggestions? or just keep trying? I really want him to be tame! this is my first parakeet.
+Chelsea Delia Just keep trying and work on him getting on your hand to eat the millet, so he starts being more comfortable with your hand being close. Also, be very gentle when you place your hand in the cage, so he doesn't see it as a major disruption!

Just to report that our new baby budgie has just arrived. We love him! He's tiny. So super chill-out that his adoptive hyper-friendly, life's-a-party, "let-me-out-to-enjoy-myself" stalker of a brother ( ua-cam.com/video/W1Gt0cJ4SPU/v-deo.html ), will fit in perfectly, with this little one. Blinks continuously when he hears our [autistic, home-schooled] son playing the piano. How sweet!! We're so thankful. When he's 7 months old, we'll put him on you-tube like his big brother. :)

***** Hello! I am going to get my first two Parakeets soon. But the problem is, if I get them next week (which is the next time I can travel to the nearest pet store) I will only get to spend two weeks with them before I go on vacation for a week. I don't really want to wait a month because Im afraid that I won't have time to tame them before school starts again. Should I get them next week or wait until after my vacation? I was thinking that maybe if I get them next week they might be able to acclimate to their surroundings more while I'm gone. Also, I want to put them in my bedroom, but it is in the basement so its kind of chilly and only I go down there regularly. Is that okay? Can I take them from my room upstairs for a few minutes? Or do they have to stay in my room all the time?

Well they still dont do it (just a quick update) but anyway... well I just wanted To say welcome baby segoe, he is beautiful!! I wish I could find a female for my birdies. But every time I go to the pet shop I can never find one. The employees say they are too young to tell 🙀
missYummyGumGum Hello! I certainly do remember you, and I'm glad you like Segoe. It really is tough to tell the gender when they are young birds. Perhaps you can get a little older one from rescue or a breeder? You might even luck out and get one which is already hand tame!

Hi, I had a two very important question. 1) I am planning on getting another parakeet and I already have a parakeet, should I keep them in the same cage or should I keep the new parakeet in another cage for a few days so it would get use to me and then let them move in together. 2) How long does it take for a parakeets cere to change when they are young? Why I am asking this is because I have a male parakeet and I would really like a male and not a female. Thank you :) btw love your videos
I would separate the new bird, not just to let it acclimate, but also to quarantine it and watch for illness. Typical length of time for quarantine is a month in a separate area from other birds. You can ask if whoever sells the bird has already done some of this, which reduces your time. Cere colors change between 8 and 10 months :-)

Hi parakeet perch I have a proble snowy my quite older budgie has broken wings woth cuts in them we do not know when or were she got them from but all I know is she has cuts in her wings and struggles a lot to fly what should I do to keep her in the cage with bob my other budgie or should I bring her to the doctor or what I'm asking for your help THX masha44
Masha 44 Oh no, I am sorry to hear that Snowy got hurt! I would suggest as vet visit, as the wing may need to be propped up or otherwise repaired so that it heals properly. Hope everything turns out well for your birdie!

Hi, my name is Zach. My birthday is coming up and I was thinking of getting myself 2 "keets". But I am afraid that one will be nicer then the other and I would like to know how to train them at the same time, if you could make a video on duo training that would be EXCELLENT!!!!

Zach Trelenberg If you're looking to train them, it would probably be better to start with just one. If you buy two together, they're going to be far more likely to bond with each other than bond with you. Starting with one and then introducing the second later on would be your best bet.
However, you should keep in mind that if you do decide to get only one budgie, you need to have a decent amount of time to devote to him/her every day (I'd say two hours, at the bare minimum. Not all of this is training, but also talking to/interacting with/taking care of your budgie). If you have a very busy schedule, it would be better to get to birds so they have each other for company. If you leave one bird alone in his cage all the time, without interacting with him, he will become lonely and possibly depressed. Remember, though, that two birds at the same time will be harder to train, since they will be bonded to each other.
Now, I'm not sure if Sophia bought and trained Siri and Soma at the same time ( ***** ), but if that's the case, I'm sure she can provide you with more information.
Zach Trelenberg Hey Zach. Sorry it took me a while to respond. Kenzi has some great tips and I would agree with what she said. I got Siri first and then Soma a week or two later. Luckily, Siri became tame rather quickly (I spent a lot of time with her), and then Soma felt a lot more comfortable coming to me because he would follow Siri's lead. So if you can take a similar approach, taming make work a little easier for you as well!

If you know anything about what Clipping does or if they could partially fly or anything like that I would love to know and would really help. You can clip there wings! But don't clip them to much if you still want them to fly but not to hard.
If I were you, I would go to an avian vet and ask to get a baby clip. This will let him glide so he doesn't hurt himself.

Sameer Kumar I have 3 parakeets and they flew like 2/3 times into the window and after that they learned what a window is and that they can't get through.
How much noise can budgies make? I had to get rid of my cockatiels because they annoyed my brother, and I don't want to do the same thing when I get a parakeet
During the day, they chatter quite a bit. Not as noisy as a tiel, but definitely audible.
