Wild Camping Alone on Hilbre island, Middle Eye, Completely Cut of by the tide, Dangerous camping

- A stealth Wild camp on a tidal island cut off by the tide overnight, using a bivi bag with no tarp.
Cooking an easy camping meal after exploring the islands , the islands are cut off from the mainland by the tide for hours at a time , you have to check the tides before walking to the islands.
The islands are about a mile from the mainland but its roughly a 2 mile walk to walk to the largest island.
The tide comes in very quickly and has caught many people out over the years.
The islands are full of wildlife and wild flowers , there are hundreds of grey seals in the area and rare sea birds.
The weather was perfect with no rain , the temperature dropped to around 5 degrees C overnight according to the BBC weather app but I was warm in my sleeping bag and alpkit Hunka XL bivi bag, using a cheap camping mat.

Yeah I did a video exploring it a few years ago and I've camped on the biggest island, I wasn't expecting there to be so many people in the buildings , but it was nice camping on the middle island , thanks lezley, all the best 👍

I was there in December 2023 and I remember looking out to North Wales as the sun was going down, I thought to myself, you could be standing here 100,000 years ago and the view would be just the same.. a very atmospheric place.

Hi, I read somewhere that RNLI staff live there between April and October, also there is a Bird Observatory on the Island that traps and ring birds, so people stay there weekends in the summer, the RNLI patrol the foot crossing during the summer to provide a quick rescue if required, haven’t been there for twenty years, but quite a magical place,

In my younger days i did a lot of bivi sacking
Always remember your llyn elsi bivi bag camp , that inspired me to camp there, Shame about those noisy sea gulls though 😂🍻👍

I didn’t like it. Too restricted and hard to get in and out of.

Hi Gaz. I'm back in circulation...and playing catch up! Never been to these Islands, although I have seen them many times from a distance. There would be lots of photographic ideas there and I would love to capture that sunset, but staying there the night is not for me! Lol

I remember when me and Mrs Metalman stopped 2 nights on Holy Island in Northumberland and when the tide came in you were completely cut off until it went out again, real funny feeling. Seemed a real rocky island so good you found a good spot and looked a canny tea as well. That setting sun was magical mind and defo lights out before dark there lol. Lucky with the weather on both days and through the night, which must have been a real bonus, cheers Alan

I have a location that gets cut-off by the tide(have not been for a while now) its a great feeling to know you are totally alone. The sights and sounds of the coastline are hard to beat, you took a chance relying on the BBC weather forecast lol.......neat shelter that Gaz. I agree a stunning location for a meal and handy tidal pools if you need to wash-up, lovely sunset mate, lovely morning as well......another bonus with the coast is no or very little midge. Reckon you could have gotten away with a low profile tent in that location too................A very enjoyable watch mate.......ATB......Stu.....👌😎👍

Great video. I vaguely remember some story about guys camping in the Middle Eye i the 1930s and being kept up all night by some supernatural entity.
I've heard of stories myself of giant crabs , sea creatures and other myths, there are noises of a night , seals mainly, they can sound quite eerie at times, I will definitely return here for another camp, I've got two other camping videos of camping here on my channel too., thanks mate 👍 atb

Great video Gaz, remember the last video where you camped on Hilbre island that was great too. Don't think I would be as brave as you to be stranded on a uninhabited island overnight !
