Well 🤷🏾♀️ to each his own but coconut oil was the worst thing to ever happen to my face and till this day I’m still trying to get rid of all the scars I got from the acne that descended on me.
I’m tired of people yelling at me when I say I use coconut oil on my face. Everyone is different. I’ve been using it for years and my skin is perfectly fine. Would I recommend it for everyone, no, but it works for me.
I have oily skin and I am prone to have acne and I have been using coconut oil to my face for years but I stopped for a year and I notice my face was so smooth and without fine lines when I was using the oil daily also I didn't break out as much, so I would say coconut oil is amazing even at hydrating my skin it repairs my legs and arms's skin like no other, so I am back to using it, yes I have acne but but acne break out were way worst without the oil
My daughter has always used coconut oil on her face; even when she was a teenager and always had great skin (and still does). I think it definitely all depends on your skin. I prefer to use Olive and Jojoba. This issue with studies and "science" is that everyones skin is different and all variables can't be looked at. And there is quite a bit of science showing that plant oils (high PUFA's) are not good to eat or to put on your skin. I guess at the end of the day we need to try and see what works for us since we are not all alike.
I use coconut oil every night on my face (I am now 55). I am from Jamaica and coconut oil has been apart of my diet and skin regiment for ever. I always wash it off in the mornings and use a hydration cream/sunblock. Coconut oil is not good in the sun. As Cassandra said it works for some. Great video.
Hi Cassandra. I used to use Coconut Oil almost daily and it definitely dehydrated my skin, although it was soft to the touch. I did, however, find a better use for it and still use it to this day. I am a bald man who shaves his head and face 2 to 3 times a week. EVERY single shaving cream, gel, etc. did not seem lubricating enough for my skin and would cause horrific razor burns. I now use nothing but Coconut Oil to shave and just like a double cleanse, I follow up with my regular cleanser and skin care routine afterward. I can honestly say it is the most comfortable shave I have ever experienced! Just thought I'd share. Absolutely love your channel by the way! You and others in the skin care community on UA-cam have helped to completely transform my aging 45 year old face. I now get mistaken for 38-40 as a result! Thanks so much and keep up the good work!
weird. i guess youre one of the like reallyyyyyyyyyyyyy rare lucky ones. :/ it made me break me out like the rest of them lol. vaseline works for me though!
I also use it as a "shaving oil" i used to use olive oil but the solidity of coconut oil makes it way easier to work with and less wasteful and that makes it cheaper for me....It is THE BEST! but, don't forget to CLEANSE THE OIL OFF WHEN YOU'RE DONE, it can(and will) clog the hair follicle once the hair is gone and the follicle is open and unprotected. P.s. don't forget USING ANY OIL IN THE SHOWER CAN BE DANGEROUS especially if your shaving you're legs.
i coconut cleansed for like 4 days in a row and it broke me out so badly, the worst i'd ever had. it took months for my skin to go back to normal! if you're prone to comodones, don't use coconut oil!
Same! I have never had problems with comedones, but when I used coconut oil a few times, it messed me right up. My first and only bad breakout. Usually I’m just a dry lizard lady.
Coconut oil contains nourishing fatty acids that help hydrate and protect skin. These include linoleic acid (vitamin F), which helps skin retain moisture, and lauric acid, which has antibacterial properties👍👏
Bundyphile that doesn't mean it'll break out everyone... it actually does work great for some people and dermatologists on harper's bazar said that too. i'm not a fan of it for skincare but i used to use as an oil cleanser and it never broke me out and i have combo/acne prone skin.
Linoleic acid in CO is nothing to boast about. It's one of the oils containing the fewest amount of linoleic acid. If you're looking for linoleic acid, know that oils with shorter shelf lives, including the cheaper oil like your corn, sunflower, soybean, grapeseed, hemp and safflower contain the most. Also canola, avacado, almond, hell even olive oil contain more linoleic acid than coconut.
I started using coconut oil 2 years ago to remove my make-up and it has really helped my rosacea. I think it just has a different effect on some people.
Coconut oil has cleared my skin! I use it every night to remove stubborn makeup and just to lock my products in. I completely understand that it’s not for everyone, some of my friends prefer grape seed or olive. Hint, look at what kinds of oils come from your place of origin :)
Who cares? He’s just a groupie! He’s pretty new to UA-cam, the info he repeats was already out there either by Cassandra or Dr Dray first! Cassandra has been here doing this since the beginning of UA-cam itself. He just repeats what we already know because of them! He’s annoying
@@somewhereintheuk imo he gives a different approach to skincare, while Casandra and dr dray say the facts, he shows the products he thinks are good with the info he has available, which is obviously less than them because they've studied the actual careers and he seems to have studied specifically about ingredients for his work, for some people that's great because they aren't interested in skincare enough and just want results...but sometimes I also wonder if he actually knows the science behind things because he never explains it, nonetheless i've never seen him say something harmful (well, except for the fact that he doesn't say when it's too much niacinamide)
I started using coconut oil on my hair a couple of years ago. It seems to make my hair seem thicker and easier to control. A couple of months ago I decided to start using it to remove my eye makeup and I swear, my lashes are thicker, my skin around the eye is tighter and all the wrinkles I had around there, I’m 45, have mostly disappeared. Around my eyes, I look about 10 years younger. It’s pretty amazing actually.
I also have been using coconut oil for my face and hands for 2 weeks and I am very surprised by the results, cleared ,glowing skin I look way younger and my hands too, look like Coco oil gives you a very beautiful tone to the skin like if you are wearing makeup but in a natural way. 😃🤍
How often do I apply extra virgin coconut oil on my face and for how long (before I wash it off)? Also, on what part(s) of my hair do I apply it and for how long do I leave it in my hair before showering?
She took Dr Dray a little out of context. She was quoting a study when she said coconut oil was better than mineral oil. Dray's professional opinion is that mineral oil and petroleum are superior. She even said this in her most recent routine video.
@@AnnaT2409 theyre scientificly proven to cause cancer lol a quick search will show you... also a dermatologist will reccomend chemicals because they are easier to obtain and many of those companies pay up for dermatologists to market their stuff.
@@clarezajac3276 i agree with you although i dont think drays face us awful, her skin is great... the banshee look is because she doesnt eat enough and im pretty sure she under eats or might have an ED
It’s horrible how some ppl suffer with acne and some don’t, but can I say that if you hadn’t gone thru what you did, you might not be who you are and not have this channel and so many of us might not have a chance to better understand our own skin ❤️
Yes, I agree! I've never struggled with my skin, but because of Cassandra I'm changing my skin care routine and tossing out the scrubs! 💜 There is just something I trust about her, I'm here for it! She makes me want to take care of my skin the right way.
MICHELLE *IS* AMAZING. Thank you for shouting out to her. More people need to see her channel! You're amazing too. Thank you for your informative videos.
Cassandra, I've been watching Dr Dray for like only a month or so but I am sure she thinks mineral oils and petroleum jelly are better than coconut oils. That video was just her paraphrasing another study done on coconut oils and how it isn't awful.
I use coconut oil for my first cleanse . My skin is very sensitive but also oily and prone to breakouts and it really calms it down. It is just whatever work for you. Trial and error. Love you videos as you're always so engaging x
My skin can’t tolerate coconut oil, I break out so badly. The coconut trend is so weird, first it was made out to be a miracle oil, then all this information comes out that it’s not that great for everyone’s skin and it’s not even that healthy to cook with.
Nishtha Sagar Coconut oil in cooking is delicious, but yeah indian food is not necessarily known to be the most healthy unless balanced with a good amt of veggies and fruit
@@undeuxtrois123 uh,,,, that's probably because of the snacks and not the regular food... I mean tonnes of my friends eat food cooked in coconut oil, and they're really healthy
I've used coconut oil to remove makeup and condition hair. Never had any breakouts, blackheads, or rashes from it. Everyone is different🤷♀️ that's the beauty and frustration of skincare, it's so personal.
Coconut oil has also been a staple for many communities of color. Indians, for example, have been using coconut oil for centuries. It’s frustrating that people in the west have now made it into the “newest fad” that’s so incredibly harmful to our communities. Our customs aren’t fads for the west to use and abuse. It’s one of the reasons I stay away from conversations by people in the west who don’t ever take other communities into consideration. Sure, we can talk about the make up of coconut oil but it’s unfair to say people have to conform to western society and their standards.
I said what I came to say and I’m not going to waste my time arguing with white people who don’t know the difference between cultural appropriation and xenophobia. Please be ignorant and belligerent somewhere else. Don’t have the audacity to come for an Indian American woman speaking about her culture.
Kailia Sage white people are so desperate to be oppressed😂 I used coconut oil for a while to get my makeup off but switched to cleansing balms, it’s still a staple for my body and hair tho
Hi Cassandra ! I've been using organic coconut oil to moisturise my body ( especially after peeling ) for years : it costs almost nothing , smells like paradise and you can put some on your salad . I hate make up but a friend of mine with a sensitive skin says is a miracle product to remove it and sooth her skin . Greetings from Paris
Same! I always use coconut oil. My grandpa had a coconut tree in his home so we used to make our own oil too for a good while! However, we must acknowledge that scientific evidence ≠ anecdotal experience :) Hence what works for us, isn't gonna work for everyone ☺️
@@trashbin101 I agree on that and then I only buy it in organic stores so you get a pure product without preservatif , all chemical rubbish. I wish I could have made it myself to get 100% sustainable oil, like you . In which exotic place you can have your own cocnut tree ?
Been using coconut oil for 2 years and my skin has never been healthier. My skin is usually dry and around 3 years ago I had a break out of terrible red patches of skin on my face, flaky and painful to the touch. turns out it was seborrheic dermatitis, coconut oil was literally my saviour.
You know I had to watch this video. 👀 Love your hair natural Cassandra! I’m not a fan of pure coconut oil, but I appreciate your breakdown. The best thing about skincare is learning from each other.
I've been using coconut oil as a lotion/moisturiser immediately after shower. Doing this for the past 2-3 months and its been great. My skin feels supple. Guess coconut oil works for my kind of skin type very well
Anyone else watching Hyram, Cassandra, James Welsh, Dr Dray, LabMuffin Science, Ben Neiley, Gothamista, Liah Yoo and Susan Yara aka Mixed MakeUp? By the way I also love whatsonvisface from TikTok as well as yayayayoung and hydrationceo and winningskin
I love coconut oil for my hair and body but i never put it on my face because im soooo acne prone. I usually mix a little coconut oil, jojoba oil, and avocado oil together as a hair mask, it works wonders for my bleached hair ❤️
I just found your channel & I'm also an Esthetician, for 17 years, and so far I TOTALLY agree with everything I've heard from you. Girl, you KNOW you're ingredients and I LOVE that!!! Thank you for spreading & sharing your knowledge & debunking some of the CRAZY!! ❤️ 🙏 ❤️
My mom's uncle's use coconut oil on their face, hair and body. They are all 80+ and their skin and hair looks flawless. And when I say flawless, I MEAN FLAWLESS!!!!!!!!!! and mom uses coconut oil as a face oil and she looks younger than me!!!! She's 40+ and I just turned 20😶!!
Coconut oil is THE ONLY THING I put on my face after I wash with black soap. So many ppl told me I will destroy my skin. But it's been the smoothest I've ever had no acne or anything. It's crazy bc I've tried neutrogena mirad proactive u name it. I'm a darkskin woman with oily highly fragile. Thank u 4 the video
you hardly need more than a drop of coconut oil if you’re putting it in your hair after washing it! I reccomend doing a coconut oil mask before you wash your hair just on the ends of your hair. (leave it on for a few hours before washing it out) and it will leave your ends feeling much softer.
@@CassandraBankson The Ordinary's squalene cleanser is amazing for me. It leaves my skin extremely smooth without overly stripping my face. The cleanser is very basic, but I like the kick to be in my serums!
@@CassandraBankson there's a lot! for the low end, timeless and the ordinary are my favorites. Sugarcane squalane oil is just as nice, maybe even better, cause of its purity. And remember kids, don't get confused with Squalane oil and SQUALENE, something the body naturally produces 😉
Use coconut oil to remove my eye makeup, makeup when I travel, add in oil to the oils I leave on my face at night or the morning. I add a few drops under my eyes before makeup and it prepares eyes my concealer. I also eat a few pumps of this oil daily.
@tecnoklaus very nice, I use shea butter as an eye creme, as a day cream I use a mix of cold pressed oils ( avocado, jojoba, rose hip, tea flower and a little bit of sweet almond with a few drops of hyaluronic acid serum from the Ordinary inside) but underneath I use serums from the ordinary ( buffet in the morning , niacinamide at knight). I have a very sensitive skin: if you are looking for a spf that is not irritating, let me know. By the way: the coconut oil I use is from Aman Prana. Castor oil is also perfect for growing hair back.
Everyone has diffrent skin maybe your skin is not sensitive towards coconut oil but mine is so everything that works for your skin .it isn’t necessary it will work for everyone
I have also a sensitive skin i use coconut oil in a mix with shea butter and cocoa butter for my body skin after shower, as i swim often - and works perfectly for me for years ... i love how my skin looks, and it s very smooth when touching...
It’s such a powerhouse, wether you use it for your hair, oil pulling/oral hygiene, makeup brush cleanser, facial cleanser even, as a natural occlusive, or to strenghten your nails.
i been watching u since i was beginning a teen and learning about acne . i had horrible acne growing up and now my skin is clear (most of the time) . so great to see that we glo’d up together 💪🏼 ur skin looks amazing!!
I use cold-pressed extra virgin coconut oil as a cleanser and as a moisturizer. My skin changed dramatically. My skin became so good. So, I am confused when people say it is not good for the skin.
I love using coconut oil on my hair and eyebrows/eyebrows to help them grow longer and stay soft---THAT works great. On my skin, however....NOPE. My skin freaks out if even a drop gets near it. Large whiteheads (and sometimes cysts) galore!
I do use either straight up coconut oil as a makeup remover and follow up with a double cleanse. Over the years I’ve been using this method, my skin as has improved so much but agree that’s it’s not hydrating while it does soften the skin. Weird but true. As a makeup remover, it’s great. Just be sure to thoroughly cleanse your skin afterward. Remember, removal is not cleansing!
Dear Cassandra, I easily remove inorganic sunscreens by using either lipid based foaming cleansers or lipid based solvents and I do not see the need for double cleansing. I normally use Avene XeraCalm cleansing oil, A derma Exomega emolient foaming gel, Avene Tolerance extreme cleansing lotion (not good if facial shaving done as it leaves protecting film on face) or Antirougeours clean soothing cleansing lotion. If the cleansing lotion is used, then padding and water needs to be used afterwards.
You're wigging. Accutane is a serious drug with serious side effects such as birth deformities and severe sun/uv sensitivity. Coconut oil should be used as a face wash but most people can't tolerate it as a leave on moisturiser(coconut oil is drying and comedogenic), while yes it is antibacterial antifungal and all the other good stuff... You're better off using almond oil or mango butter for their comedogenic rating and oleic acid levels. Also edited to add: I used to recommend a lot of natural products. But if you have severe, prolonged or cystic acne, DO NOT USE MANGO BUTTER OR COCONUT OIL. only use prescribed by dermatologists. Coconut oil and most other natural butters aren't purified enough, they also have chemicals which are perfect fertiliser for bacterial acne. It is actually a common complaint of people trying coconut oil, that they end up with even more chronic acne as well as bacterial acne infections - which I assume are very painful and take lots more management on too of original acne management plans.
I put coconut oil on my dry face around 20 minutes before washing my face with a face wash. I have been doing this for more than 3 months now and it has definitely improved my skin. Applying coconut oil before cleansing makes it less harsh for my dry skin and prevents irritation.
Me too. I use rosehip oil, sometimes I use argan & rosehip mixed as a last step on top of my cerave cream and I use jojoba oil to remove my makeup, so it never breaks me out (skin type; combination, acne prone & sensitive)
I have been using coconut oil as a 1st cleanse since I’ve been 35 (43 now) I have heard so many mixed reviews on using coconut oil thru the years. All I can attest to is I have never had any issues. My skin type leans toward combination/dry .
The trees are not cut down to pick the coconuts.....the nuts are picked separately like fruits from a tree and the tree is left to continue bearing....
I suspect she means that other varieties of trees which monkeys live in get cut down to make way for coconut plantations, thus reducing areas for the monkeys to live. The coconut palms would indeed remain after that though.
I didn't know that about mineral oil. As a black woman with natural hair, mineral oil is often demonized in the natural hair community and I never really questioned it. But thanks to you, and the viewer who let you yourself know, I now know what it is and how it's produced.
Can we just take a minute to appreciate just how gorgeous and smart this woman is? Thank you Cassandra for all the knowledge and for being you. Sending some love from the UK xx
Different fatty acids have different effects. They also react differently based on your skin type, diet, genetics. Coconut oil has many medium chained fatty acids, which some people have a bad reaction to topically, but are great to consume. Jojoba oil works really well for all skin types as a cleanser or moisturizer because it is not really an oil, but a liquid wax ester. This makes it similar to your skins sebum, doesn’t clog pores, and protects the acid mantle. If you have sensitive or problematic skin try Borage or Evening Primrose oil because they have GLA, a fatty acid that your skin doesn’t have to convert in order to use. I have acne and eczema. Jojoba, borage, and EPO work wonders for me.
Do you think that Vaseline is ok to use as a moisturizer? I’ve met a few older ladies in their 50’s with no wrinkles at all that said all they use is Vaseline
We can already directly synthesise the hydrocarbons that mineral oil is made of, and we also have genetically modified algae that can make hydrocarbons. It's just a matter of improving the existing processes to reduce cost and improve output.
Yes, I use coconut oil as a a cleanser and it dissolves every bit of make up, even the toughest máscaras and immediately wash my face with the cetaphil cleanser and I use toner afterwards and I follow my skin care routine. I’m a huge fan of coconut oil. I apply it all over my hair when it’s still damp and it makes my hair shiny and keeps it frizz free and smells great. I also use it after I shower all over the body. I don’t use it every day but coconut oil it’s been a part of my routine my whole life and I love it! Great video Cassandra!
You truly are an amazing person! The way you talk about constructive criticism and how it’s such a good thing really shows how mature and open you are, and that is such a big inspiration.❤️
The video just started and I will say one thing about coconut oil. I have had dry flaky skin my entire life, I am extremely sensitive to all things on my skin so lotion makes me break out into hives or rashes, straight coconut oil is the the first and ONLY thing I have found to fix my extreme dry skin.
I recently started using coconut oil to remove makeup and it works wonders! I've been using it for a few days and follow it up with exfoliator and cleanser. I prefer it on my skin rather than my hair.
Hi Cassandra, ❤elanie here, thank you so much for your well executed ,educational and very informative video. I have spent a lifetime, studying, educating, and sharing as many components as I possibly can to the betterment and feel good of allthe patrons and students I was fortunate enough to have been a part of their journey...unfortunately 4 me I was a product of the 70''s baby oil and iodine, as well as no sunscreen and the use of hand held sun reflectors, even blankets to get that litterl BURN, however at 29, I began my career in skincare, in my 30's the photo damage was eerily becoming more visible and the natural aging process .. well they were the best of friends and holding hands..life with many changes, lots of loss for me, particularly the passing of my 16 year old son Jordan along with an infinite amount of loss sleep, tears, poor diet, for about 5 years well...u can just imagine, then came the care of two elderly parents, I cared for both till they passed. BUT...Low and behold at at the ripe age of 62 There was time for me,to work on me... Having the knowledge, skillset base, I went on a mission to condition, not my body so much at first but my skin..so without fillers, or a nip or tuck, I began a systematic dedicated skincare routine, I chose Paulas Choice as my first line of defence. AHA' BHA's Niaciiide, Hyaluronic Acid, Vutamin C, Anti Oxidants, and also Incorporated, monthly microdermabrasion, sheilded my face from the sun with sunscreen Always..more water, in and out the body, more veggies, more exercise, and several 30% glycolic peels...one year later my skin began a fantastic love affair with me,, it was healing and becoming more glory, less dehydrated,, more plump and Radiant, the fine lines are finer, not gone,(lol) but at 66 I look better that I did at 45 and 50..Im sharing this so your reader's and followers know that while we can't get back our youth, we can address the abuse we may have cause with amazing results, that bring out the best possible version of self.. I don't have acne, never had, my skin is always clear except for the occasional pimple. A few years ago I decided to try coconut oil on my face. I tried it for a few days as a moisturizer. My skin broke out really badly, I had many pimples on my face I was scared until I realized that it was the coconut oil. I immediately stopped using it and everything went back to normal after that. Now, I wouldn't even use coconut oil hair products for fear that some will get on my face and I would not ever use it as a cleanser, even if i wash after. There are lots of other oils that can be used (I hardly ever wear makeup so I don't oil cleans often anyway). I sure use it to cook at lot though because it's healthy when consumed. Just DO NOT apply coconut oil to your skin or hair. Keep it for use in the kitchen.
Cassandra, your zeal to explain and elaborate about just everything just is amazing. Shows how you want to not only help your own skin but help raise awareness WORLDWIDE ! Cheers from India 🇮🇳
I second this! My skin has been irritated and I not only cleansed with coconut oil but used it as a mask. It has helped a lot and no breakouts! Not using it as a moisturiser though. I follow up with a gentle cleanser with oatmeal (colloidal) in it that helps remove the coconut oil, then micellar water at the end. The thing is, you have to learn your ingredients and what suits your skin.
I use coconut oil every evening to cleanse my face then I use toner then moisturiser then olive oil over the top. I layer it all on I never break out but I have dry skin
Great video! Super informative. Coconut oil doesn't work on my face but I do use it in my hair and for cooking! Marula oil is the only oil I have used on my face that does not break me out.
Omg you can’t understand how much I appreciate this video! 😆 Also, I’m going to go watch your other one. See, I’ve been double cleansing for a few years now and I’ve enjoyed coconut oil in this my routine. THEN I heard so many people say or even YELL coconut is BAD for your skin! 😳 I don’t breakout and I don’t have oily skin and I don’t seem to have any issues using coconut as my first cleanse. I would switch if I’m doing harm but seriously would like to stick with it if it’s ok for me. It absolutely melts off everything and I rinse a bit then I just wipe it and everything else off with a warm soft cloth . Everything comes off and use a gentle cleanser to complete my second cleanse. Easy peasy and cheap. 👍🏼 Thank you sweetie! 🤗❤️
I used coconut oil on my face as a moisturiser for 6 years and had absolutely perfect skin. I started using a proper moisturiser since a year and my skin is definitely not the baby skin it used to be, but I don't know if that's just because my moisture barrier is weaker or if it's actually because I gave up coconut oil. Btw your hair looks gorgeous in this!
Similar story, I used coconut oil and aloe vera gel mixed together as a moisturiser for years and my skin was in good nick. I've always had clear and soft skin but now since using newer products I have noticed differences...
@@abiola33 glad to know I'm not the only one. It's left me in a really confused state because I don't know if it's years of coconut oil causing my skin to mess up now, or if I should go back to it because it seemed to have worked well. 😟
@@Anasheed3 Totally 😊 and I hear that! I stopped my coconut oil and aloe vera gel combo as a facial moisturiser because sometimes my face felt like it needed more moisture sometimes. But then some moisturisers I tried were not all that. Now I use the ordinary's natural moisturing factors + ha but I do wonder about my old combo too...only thing I can say for sure is best we balance sticking to what our skin likes and using products that benefit it 🤷🏾♀️
@@abiola33 I felt like my skin would get abit too oily, and then I read all the scary comedogenic stuff. My forehead has kinda erupted in pimples, they're not getting worse but nor are they getting better. I guess I'll stick it out till the products finish at least. Fattifats if it’s not working, you can always go back to coconut oil. If it works for you, use it. Everyone has different skincare needs. I personally use coconut oil on my face as a moisturizer and I absolutely love it.
I've been using coconut oil as a cleansing oil for months and it's an amazing cheaper alternative! But never forget to wash it off and double cleanse with an water-based surfactant cleanser!!!!

This was a hell of a lot more informative and interesting than I was expecting. Wasn't prepared for the all the science (this is the first video of yours I have watched) but I was pleasantly surprised. You're clearly well educated and informed which is really refreshing to see on this platform. To be honest though I'm not really sure what to do with this information. I think some people, like myself, look to things like (sustainable) coconut oil so that we don't have to buy and use lots of chemical filled, packaged in plastic cleansers. So if we can use the oil, but still have to buy and use commercial cleansers afterwards, then really there's no point. I might try it out and see if it does anything for me - maybe since I have very dry skin, the oil will be ok to stay on my face. Gotta do some experiments I guess
Mom is 84 she uses a warm wet washcloth to cleanse her face before applying her makeup. It is magical. She look's like she's 74. It work's really well for me as well. I use it in my thick, course, wavy hair. But, I'm up to learning more. 🌸🌸🌸 thank's for the upload
Coconut oil has comedogenic level 3, yes it contains lauric acid that is good for anti aging.but not for everyone...it makes my skin brake out.. I've tried many carrier oil on my face, but none make my face broke out like coco oil.I prefer to rosehip ,argan or tamanu oil
I was my face with Jojoba oil in the morning, and use it as my make-up remover at night! Works great! Also, coconut oil works great on my dog to help his dry skin, it's also a flea repellent!

DIY my own moisturizer that includes coconut oil. Works for me.
Same, it doesn’t break out everyone.
I will try coconut oil to shave my armpits because of your advice, maybe it’ll work well for me, too! Thanks for sharing!
Coconut oil dehydrated me like crazyyy, I used to use it as a makeup remover but it broke me out so now I stay far away from it
Just curious, do you use regular coconut oil or fractionated coconut oil as your shaving cream? Does it seem to clog up your razor?
i coconut cleansed for like 4 days in a row and it broke me out so badly, the worst i'd ever had. it took months for my skin to go back to normal! if you're prone to comodones, don't use coconut oil!

Yes, yes, yes, and yes again!!!
It’s also extremely comedogenic.
Bundyphile that doesn't mean it'll break out everyone... it actually does work great for some people and dermatologists on harper's bazar said that too. i'm not a fan of it for skincare but i used to use as an oil cleanser and it never broke me out and i have combo/acne prone skin.
@@Bundyphile yep!

I do use either straight up coconut oil as a makeup remover and follow up with a double cleanse. Over the years I’ve been using this method, my skin as has improved so much but agree that’s it’s not hydrating while it does soften the skin. Weird but true. As a makeup remover, it’s great. People with extremely dry, eczema skin: 👁👄👁it does?
Dear Cassandra,
I easily remove inorganic sunscreens by using either lipid based foaming cleansers or lipid based solvents and I do not see the need for double cleansing.
Put coconut oil on your skin, and have accutane prescribed 😅
rubina stanikzai I finished it in July. Not happy with the results. Still breaking out🗿🗿🗿🗿
You're wigging.
Also edited to add:
I used to recommend a lot of natural products.

Yeah monkeys are used to pick them i guess. My vegan friend told me she doesnt use it bc of that reason.

The question is, when we run out of oil in the ground to extract, what oil do we use then :\
We can already directly synthesise the hydrocarbons that mineral oil is made of, and we also have genetically modified algae that can make hydrocarbons.
It's just a matter of improving the existing processes to reduce cost and improve output.

4 me I was a product of the 70''s baby oil and iodine, as well as no sunscreen and the use of hand held sun reflectors, even blankets to get that litterl BURN, however at 29, I began my career in skincare, in my 30's the photo damage was eerily becoming more visible and the natural aging process .. well they were the best of friends and holding hands..life with many changes, lots of loss for me, particularly the passing of my 16 year old son Jordan along with an infinite amount of loss sleep, tears, poor diet, for about 5 years well...u can just imagine, then came the care of two elderly parents, I cared for both till they passed.
BUT...Low and behold at at the ripe age of 62
There was time for me,to work on me...
Having the knowledge, skillset base, I went on a mission to condition, not my body so much at first but my skin..so without fillers, or a nip or tuck, I began a systematic dedicated skincare routine,
I chose Paulas Choice as my first line of defence. AHA' BHA's
Niaciiide, Hyaluronic Acid, Vutamin C, Anti Oxidants, and also
Incorporated, monthly microdermabrasion, sheilded my face from the sun with sunscreen
Always..more water, in and out the body, more veggies, more exercise, and several 30% glycolic peels...one year later my skin began a fantastic love affair with me,, it was healing and becoming more glory, less dehydrated,, more plump and Radiant, the fine lines are finer, not gone,(lol) but at 66 I look better that I did at 45 and 50..Im sharing this so your reader's and followers know that while we can't get back our youth, we can address the abuse we may have cause with amazing results, that bring out the best possible version of self..
Time, patience, education, consistency,
And sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen,
In the mix of all these efforts...and skin will love us when we love it....thank u for sharing your valuable lessons, u are skin angel...so fly fly, and fly 💝💝💝💝
Skin or hair. It gives dramatic results if used continuously
I double cleanse, I use rosehip oil to remove my makeup and sunscreen. I use a mild cleanser and a toner after.. I love my skin!!
Love your curly hair. Thank you for always using science and for updating your opinions and thoughts when you get new information. We're all learning!
I use coconut oil every evening to cleanse my face then I use toner then moisturiser then olive oil over the top. I layer it all on I never break out but I have dry skin
Cassandra always coming through with the chemistry, I'm always SO here for it. Lovely as always, I appreciate your effort towards informing us ❤️
Great video! Super informative. Coconut oil doesn't work on my face but I do use it in my hair and for cooking! Marula oil is the only oil I have used on my face that does not break me out.
I wish more influencers were like you.
I started a proper routine a month ago, cera ve cleanser, niacinimde serum, chemical exfoliater and neutrogena moisturiser. I feel like it's not doing much yet. My forehead has kinda erupted in pimples, they're not getting worse but nor are they getting better. I guess I'll stick it out till the products finish at least.
Wishing you the best in your skin care journey.
But never forget to wash it off and double cleanse with an water-based surfactant cleanser!!!!
this video couldn't have come at a better time, I was going to try this tonight so this is perfect
I'm sooo happy to hear!! I hope you learn and enjoy!!
@@CassandraBankson THANK YOU SOO MUCH
@@kaspermarshall7140 what's going on after that?
50+ here and pure coconut oil is all I have ever used on my face and even my body. It is a great cleanser and moisturizer for me.
And you know what matters the place
If coconut oil is grown there it is a natural sign it is meant for climate condition of that place
Ask a kerelite if he hates it no he will love it .simple as that
Coconut oil is magic for my skin and scalp. It has cleared up all of my acne and dandruff issues.
Yess who else is excited for this videoooo (p.s I love that our skincare queen posts this much)
I'm so excited for you to enjoy it!! Lots of exciting nuggets of skincare science in this one!!
How often do I apply extra virgin coconut oil on my face and for how long (before I wash it off)? Also, on what part(s) of my hair do I apply it and for how long do I leave it in my hair before showering?
I wish I knew your channel 12 years ago when I (non-voluntarily) started my acne journey! So much educational content, I love it. Makes me want to know more ❤️
Cassandra, I've been watching your videos for several months now and I really enjoy them! You are so intelligent and so engaging! You have so much knowledge but you never talk over people's heads. Keep up the great job! ❤️👏🏻
I can’t believe one fifteen minute video is teaching me more than my biology teacher ever did
You are right! It feels like school was a waste of time after all.
Cassandra: “but before we get to why her body different.”
Me: hits the like button
I was my face with Jojoba oil in the morning, and use it as my make-up remover at night! Works great!
Also, coconut oil works great on my dog to help his dry skin, it's also a flea repellent!
