You said it!!! It's actually unbelievable how fast they can scamper across your floor/ceiling/face. Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed the video and I wish you luck with any future encounters...
I had to see it several times to understand. (I only speak Portuguese). But it helped me a lot to write about it. Maybe at the edge of the universe we can find kilopods, it would be better than cockroach, right?
I did have luck in fact. With my research I found they primarily get in through cracks in the foundation. I took notice of where I spotted them and which direction they moved from. I investigated thinking it was a loose fit for the heater pipe at my floorboard, but it looked like a perfectly good seal. I investigated further and found a large crack in the foundation just behind the carpet in the corner of my room near the pipe. I ended up stuffing a tissue into it, problem fixed.
Also worth mentioning, based on my observations, they seem to be fairly poor wall climbers. I watched one one time and it kept falling, I doubt it would escape by running across the wall, much less the ceiling. Also I sleep on a simple mattress on the floor and I've never had an issue, they are simple predator insects that hunt for food on the ground floor. There behavior seems easy to predict. If you want a real scary insect, get bed bugs.
You guys made a great video. I've been researching these things cause I've been killing them in my apartment and wanted to know what i'm up against. For those concerned they are super creepy looking but harmless to humans and hunt every other bug you may have. I just place a cup or something on top of them til i grab a tissue for some flushing, Just do it calmly cause if you miss they will run away at the speed of light X10.
