In general, 2.5" drives use M3 screws, i bought a bunc of generic laptop screws for my r710 and they fit just fine (not ro mention the were much cheaper than original Dell ones :)

I'll be interested to see how those sandisk ssd's last. I know a lot of people complain they're not that great. But you'll be fine since you are great at doing backups. Also I'm amazed that guy sent those drives with data on. I'm not saying you would go through the data but it would be common sense to format them before giving them away or disposing of them. Anyway great video as always Joe, I'm jealous of you and Morten having cool stuff to play with lol

They were probably just SSDs booting dumb servers hosting VMs or lab systems.

Hi, have you ever considered manually over provisioning SSD's (just using a portion of the available space?)

Good stuff! The reason I put everything on raid 1 or 10 is downtime. in a production machine like a in house Drs. office if you have VMS on a single drive and it fails then you have to go to a backup and that backup might not be up to the second and will take time to get running. Meanwhile they can't make any appointments. If a raid 1 and one drive fails just pop in new drive and keep on chugging no down time. Also I am not sure how well open manage and h700 works on a single drive in terms of warning of a failing drive. With SSDs sometimes there is no warning its Poof!.

LOL. At my work we ran 4 fairly cheap ssds in raid 0 for a while without any problem.
Yes my boss is crazy, but hey he's the one that pays me.
