      @@OHIVOTD-u1u Not exactly. The stress placed on initial gears caused problems as things scaled up. Also, there are 3 full rotations of backlash, meaning it takes 3 full rotations for a reversal of direction to take effect.

    This is a pretty neat way to showcase a lot of different engineering based concepts, especially just transferring energy. I feel like it demonstrates really well how electricity is more of balls bumping into one-another than it is like a current of water, which it seems to be described as often.

    This is a great demonstration in how friction reduces the efficiency of a system, causing it to lose energy. The more gears he added, the more friction was added to the system, which increased the minimum torque required to spin the gears.
    It was also fascinating to see how inverting the rotation allowed the gear to make 3 full rotations before slowing down. Likely caused by all of the gaps between the gears.

      @@19grand not too much to do, trying with the least friction materials and reducing friction with oil, lightest materials and you will increase a little the efficiency, but we are talking that 1 gear has to drive the weight and momentum of 110 more, the power is there, but from the first till the last, youll have tremendous mechanical loss, converting all power to heat due friction, it wont be an oven and not even a noticeable heat, but its huge for the mechanism

    Just because there’s almost no friction doesn’t mean a force is applied, whenever a gear is applied it puts a lot more weight that needs to be moved, by that applying a greater force for each individual gear, because of that with every gear in the mix it would need a greater force to pass the mechanical force onto the last gear, in a way, it’s like you were pushing a big block of ice across the pavement (starting off with 5 kg and adding 1 kg every second, Ice doesn’t melt), you almost have no friction applied in said object, since you are the constant push even if it would be easy at first, the weight would eventually overcome the strength being applied to it, bringing it to very little to being completely motionless.

      Did not know that ... very interesting.
      I have worked in sheetfed offset printing for nearly 30 years ..many years ago , we used graphite powder as a lubricant on certain parts of some of our older equipment where the original manufacturer suggested none be used at all.

    Something about this makes me laugh and I think I've figured out why. He just keeps adding gears, and every time something goes wrong, he just finds a way to keep adding more, saying "oh no no no no you're supposed to be turning". It's like putting more duct tape on someone's mouth each time they mumble something

      Because all gears need 1/2 of a full spin to transfer oil from the cog before them to the cog after.... 🤔 A long time ☝️😁

      @Poor mans brunch if the rotation of the cog takes 1 second you get 55.5 which is too close to a minute
      if its 2 second then its 2 times 111 divided by 2 which is just 111

    You can use this and an ammeter to measure the friction induced by one gear.

      @@ayush8650 you put on just enough gears to JUST stop the motor. Then, you measure torque at stall for that motor, OR use the amperage draw plus a motor characterization sheet to find that, then you arrange the shit so there's friction on one side and all your other forces on the other and divide the final answer by however many shafts you're turning.
