No pepper spray? I wouldn't even think about defending myself with a knife. Pepper spray works just fine and won't hurt the bear. Please tell me you had pepper spray.
@@sstritmatter2158 well, DUH.... but we want to know more details, because it does not take 300 days to hike the AT! it usually takes around 4-5 months to hike it and that is only 120-150 days.
That was pretty intense, my encounter here in pa was a lot safer because mine didn't have cubs... took a lot to get it to move along, but... thankfully he/ she did!! Glad your encounter ended peacefully... thanks for sharing
It's why I carry a .44mag/ bear spray hiking. I know a .44 is heavy for a through hiker but carrying it will make you stronger and maybe keep you alive.
Bear spray stops grizzlies cold here in Montana. I think your black bears would be KO'd by the same brew. Probably about the same weight as your K bar knife.
Day 300? Are you stealing my idea of a SKT for the AT? Although my plan is to hike from January 1st through December 30th. I figure I will have one day in reserve just in case something goes wrong.
Hey Trail Marshall, you probably don't remember me and my crew of 3 friends but we met and had a conversation with you near MT. Rogers in October 2021. Such an intense encounter!
Glad to see another video, watch out for the fuzz..Happy Trails from Wisconsin😎
What bear. I saw no bear, I must be blind.
straight shot from 49 seconds to 59 seconds
It's called AT comedy!!!!!!
I didn't see any bears either

Yeah that knife would not even protect you from a bear
I think the purist hikers will approve of you stepping off trail for a mama bear.

Nah, no bear spray for me. Black Bears don't really want any smoke... Grizzlies on the other hand...😳😳😳
Day 300???

Funny shit!!!!!

I would like to inquire about your 300+ days. What are you doing on the Appalachian trail?
I'd say he was hiking it?
I am also curious as to why it is day 300+
