It is definitely not worth doing all of that All you need is a power and a ground and wire it to the switch. You could even wire it directly to your high beams so when you turn on your high beams the fog lights go on or wire it to your low beams and the one the high beams go on your fog lights go off 👍👍👍
There is a hack where you can use your truck button and rewire it in the fusebox to connect to the fog lights. The connector for the truck, and the fog lights are the same. Won't need to tear apart anything. However, if your lock ever breaks on your trunk. You'll never be able to access it until you wire the switch back.

In mine there is a purple connector beside the impact connector on the passenger side, idk where it connects to.
What wires r on the switch gose to the lights I've been trying to do the same to mine I was going to take out dash and change the hole harness
