When I saw the phrase a wonderful life I was like no way, and then when I saw the main character and Takakura I started crying, my mom and I used to play this game all the time, we used to choose the names together for the animals, we even cried when an animal passed away, this has brought all those good memories back, she passed away 4 years ago, I know she would have been so excited, thank you so much for doing a remake of this wonderful game.

Also, depending on your actions in game, at least this is what the original version of this game did, it influences what kind of career your child will pursue. AND depending on who you marry, the personality of the child differs as well. I am basing this all on the original game, and I really hope that they add those features in this remake.

Natsume still owns the original Harvest Moon name however, which results in newer Harvest Moon games developed by Marvelous being released under the Story of Seasons name

This game is nostalgic but i the ps2 version and i play till heaven, but boy the Fossil excavation is tiring,and you can plant one seed at a time but looking at this remake, she just throw seed and it cover's a lot of places, the better rotation of farming tools, the fast movement it just give me a lot of good vibes for this game, can't wait to play it and marry Cecilia again :)
I have the gamecube version. I was actually just thinking of this game a few months ago. I may grab it if reasonable priced, just to play it again. I see the chars got a name change, its now Molly and not Muffy. She was always my go to 🤣 though now I can be female I'll see what males are around, or play as male and get Mu ..eh Molly again 🤣

Dude when I heard the narrator say "It's A Wonderful Life for a new generation" before it transitioned to the gameplay my heart dropped and I was like there's no way it's what I think it is and low and behold yes it was. All I can hope for with this A Wonderful Life remake is that they add some characters introduced in HMDS/Cute (Keira, Skye, Leia, Witch Princess, etc.), but I'm prepared to be disappointed on that front.

It's no longer Forget-me-not Valley, but Forgotten Valley. I never forgot Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life. It was a game that was way before its time and had its own aging system, plus your child growing up. The amount of tears in my eyes and the many times I've replayed this trailer is insane. My Gamecube is on it's last legs of life and I have gone through 3 disks of a Wonderful Life in its time. I can now retire my Gamecube onto its shelf and the game displayed in its case. I'm finally going home.
My jaw dropped, I gasped & teared up watching this trailer. Harvest Moon: Another Wonderful Life on the GameCube was the first video game I ever played; I still have the same GameCube & game disc to this day! The game holds such a special place in my heart & always will!!! I’m SUPER EXCITED for the remake ❤❤❤
This game was a huge part of my childhood and I am amazed to see it brought to life like this! My sister and I used to take turns playing the original on the GameCube all the time. My dad even burned a CD with the music from the game for us to listen to on road trips. He loved how calming and relaxing the soundtrack was! The gasp of sheer DELIGHT I had when this came up! The farm tune is so nostalgic it brought a tear to my eye. I still have both versions for the Gamecube!
God I loved playing this game on gamecube, I hope it still has the small bits of charm that were present on it. (did you know NPCs on that game had a chance to just talk to you if you were close by without you needing to press the interact button? I just find that so cool)
the part i liked was that they were able to implement so many systems that weren't always immediately obvious. there was no friendship menu. you knew someone was your friend if they looked at you when you walked past. i always thought that was really clever.
Nearly 20 years later and I'm still playing the GameCube version. I bought the Ps2 version on Ps4 recently and yep, I still hate it. I had the Ps2 version for a bit back in the day and yeah it is nothing like the GameCube version. Awful tech problems and unnecessary changes like planting fertilizer to regrow fodder and having to pay a ton of money to open up the large crop field and neither of this was in the GameCube version. Definitely excited to see this, but I'll wait for reviews. It will be a bummer if they bring over the Ps2 stuff

How did this go under the radar!? Harvest Moon A Wonderful Life was my favorite HM game as a kid and just hearing people complain about how many farm games there was without mentioning this gem was being remade is astonishing.
This announcement made me so happy because this was the first HM game I played. It’s how I found out and got into the series thus I feel so much nostalgia from it. Especially since I haven’t been able to play the og versions and missed the games so much. Thank you Nintendo for revealing this.
The farming was on the weaker side of the series though. Like there wasn't a whole lot of animal variety and there was literally no reason to use any crops other than fruit trees because trees had huge yields and never died.
@@Robbie_Haruna literally is a strong word. i dont need a game to give me a reason (like an achievement) to try to reach a goal. i farmer all the crops in AWL to make all the different hybrids as my own personal goal, for example. to cook every dish. there were reasons. that said, the nerf to fruit seeds in AnWL was obviously justified.
@@NaraKwonPoD I honestly forgot they even nerfed them in AnWL because they were still leaps and bounds better than other crops. Hopefully in the process of remaking the game they refactor some of the other non-tree crops to be actually worth using. Fortunately we can see you can spread seeds around more than one tile at a time, so with any luck we might get some regrowing crops like many other games to help them keep up with trees. Also the reasons you give aren't especially good ones because being able to make hybrid crops and make more recipes doesn't really mean a whole lot when Stamina in AWL is incredibly meaningless and easy to ignore. You being willing to ignore a significant problem with the game's farming doesn't really make the other crops not completely outclassed by trees.
Even though the direct had amazing announcements like Zelda and Fire Emblem... This is still the best announcement of the whole direct.... actually no, its the greatest announcement in the last 20 years... im crying tears of joy 😭
I had been hoping for an updated version to this classic. This was my first and practically only Harvest Moon game and the only one that has ever really interested me much. To be honest, I'd prefer the old art style, but I guess I can handle the change. I'm just glad that water crops doesn't take half a decade to complete now.
This and the remaster for Tales of Symphonia have been at the top of my "please remake" list for years. I'm so happy they're both getting a fresh coat a paint, and portable too! I never finished either of them, but I can't wait to give it another shot
I really hope they include rival marriages. We had rival cut scenes but they never got married. With the aging aspect, it would make sense for the marriage candidates to get married and also have a kid.
Not only a remake of my favorite DS game but also a remake of the first farm sim I ever played. This is really nostalgic! I'm glad the character designs didn't get completely overhauled like the Mineral Town remake.

Yeah I noticed that too and is definitely weird. Considering that Awl and A(n)WL has been kinda remaked into one then I’m not surprised if it has the DS and Special Edition in there too
To give some context, there is an event you can trigger in the original game where your son finds a big stick at the beach, and says it reminds him of a wizard wand. Since the game is about shaping your child into what kind of person he can become, you could either agree or disagree with his statement. I think agreeing with him boosts his creativity, and he mentions how he's gonna try doing magic with the stick someday. So sadly no Witch (at least not that we know of yet) 😔

This was the best announcement in the direct for me. I still play the original on my ps5 to this day. Kinda bummed the character art style changed but it's a small price to pay. I just hope it comes out on PC or PS5 soon after.
I actually like the changes to the characters and actually most of the characters still look the same to me like Mark, Vesta, and Celia. Changes made to certain characters like Marlon are welcome cause he actually looks handsome here while he looked rough in the original, lol. The guy obsessed with metallic objects (dark skinned guy) looks really good here cause he looked like Frankenstein's monster in the original

I still have this game in it's original box and manual for the PS2 being the special edition, it's been in my PS2 collection for decades collecting dust... I never got far in it because of the FPS issue with the PS2 version, but this solves my problem and it's portable! I hope the FPS is fixed on the switch...

Going back to Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town after this announcement was made… I’m glad to say that I NEVER flinched not once to buy that game… I’m so glad I waited it out, even tho I had not a single piece of knowledge if we’d ever get another entry or whatever but still… I tried so hard to love PoOT playing demos, asking friends who has it can I play the game, etc and it never stuck. Wish PoOT the very best in the future but all my attention, time, and $$$ is going to SoS: AWL

This announcement made me so happy because this was the first HM game I played. It’s how I found out and got into the series thus I feel so much nostalgia from it. Especially since I haven’t been able to play the og versions and missed the games so much. Thank you Nintendo for revealing this.
This was my favorite GameCube game. Very excited to play it again…though I probably won’t finish it given the ending
They'll prolly allow you to keep playing it after the end, just like in the PS2 Special Edition
I rented this game from blockbuster in the 5th grade and I've been obsessed ever since.
Hopefully festivals come back, and more events. This game was lacking in that.
But the breeding and farming parts were some of the best.
The farming was on the weaker side of the series though.
Like there wasn't a whole lot of animal variety and there was literally no reason to use any crops other than fruit trees because trees had huge yields and never died.
@@Robbie_Haruna banana trees/seeds were my biggest money maker. But yeah. Lacking overall.

@@Robbie_Haruna literally is a strong word. i dont need a game to give me a reason (like an achievement) to try to reach a goal. i farmer all the crops in AWL to make all the different hybrids as my own personal goal, for example. to cook every dish. there were reasons. that said, the nerf to fruit seeds in AnWL was obviously justified.
@@NaraKwonPoD I honestly forgot they even nerfed them in AnWL because they were still leaps and bounds better than other crops.
Hopefully in the process of remaking the game they refactor some of the other non-tree crops to be actually worth using.
Fortunately we can see you can spread seeds around more than one tile at a time, so with any luck we might get some regrowing crops like many other games to help them keep up with trees.
Also the reasons you give aren't especially good ones because being able to make hybrid crops and make more recipes doesn't really mean a whole lot when Stamina in AWL is incredibly meaningless and easy to ignore. You being willing to ignore a significant problem with the game's farming doesn't really make the other crops not completely outclassed by trees.

I had been hoping for an updated version to this classic. This was my first and practically only Harvest Moon game and the only one that has ever really interested me much.
To be honest, I'd prefer the old art style, but I guess I can handle the change. I'm just glad that water crops doesn't take half a decade to complete now.
That Summer 2023 wait is brutal, but at least it'll stay out of the way of other purchases I intend to make this year so I'm not forced to choose.

This and the remaster for Tales of Symphonia have been at the top of my "please remake" list for years. I'm so happy they're both getting a fresh coat a paint, and portable too! I never finished either of them, but I can't wait to give it another shot

I really hope they include rival marriages. We had rival cut scenes but they never got married. With the aging aspect, it would make sense for the marriage candidates to get married and also have a kid.

Yeah I noticed that too and is definitely weird. Considering that Awl and A(n)WL has been kinda remaked into one then I’m not surprised if it has the DS and Special Edition in there too

To give some context, there is an event you can trigger in the original game where your son finds a big stick at the beach, and says it reminds him of a wizard wand. Since the game is about shaping your child into what kind of person he can become, you could either agree or disagree with his statement. I think agreeing with him boosts his creativity, and he mentions how he's gonna try doing magic with the stick someday. So sadly no Witch (at least not that we know of yet) 😔
@@annalynn8264 ah, OK! I remember that mechanic, that makes total sense now. Hopefully we can still see her and characters from the DS games- it seems they added a new character Matthew, so we might see them yet 🙂
@@shamilevergreen6200correct me if I’m wrong but I thought as Muffy is named Molly now Marlin(?) is Mathew so they had more ‘normal’ names. And I also agree with you seeing the characters from DS and also from FOMT as we also have that on Switch would be a huge win!
I for real started crying, I've waited YEARS for this. I google all the time if a remake is in the works. Seeing this as soon as I opened UA-cam was the best thing ever. I am so excited and looking forward to next year.

This was the best announcement in the direct for me. I still play the original on my ps5 to this day. Kinda bummed the character art style changed but it's a small price to pay. I just hope it comes out on PC or PS5 soon after.
I actually like the changes to the characters and actually most of the characters still look the same to me like Mark, Vesta, and Celia. Changes made to certain characters like Marlon are welcome cause he actually looks handsome here while he looked rough in the original, lol. The guy obsessed with metallic objects (dark skinned guy) looks really good here cause he looked like Frankenstein's monster in the original

I actually don't mind them redesigning the others to be marriage candidates, I just kinda preffered the baggier, more simple designs of the original art style (main boy doesn't look right to me now). But they did a really good job keeping the girls looking so close to their original!

oh my goodness... I've long wanted this game to get a remake and I am glad to see it happen after all these years. this was one of my most favorite games of all time. The classic music... How I've missed it.

Man this brings back memories when I was a kid coming home from school in 2005 to my grandpa playing it on my GameCube he loved that game
I still have this game in it's original box and manual for the PS2 being the special edition, it's been in my PS2 collection for decades collecting dust... I never got far in it because of the FPS issue with the PS2 version, but this solves my problem and it's portable! I hope the FPS is fixed on the switch...

Loved the original a ton and one of my faves within HM. Looks like marvelous stepped up their remake game for this one and it's in actual 3d which SoS really needs to go back to.
Going back to Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town after this announcement was made… I’m glad to say that I NEVER flinched not once to buy that game… I’m so glad I waited it out, even tho I had not a single piece of knowledge if we’d ever get another entry or whatever but still… I tried so hard to love PoOT playing demos, asking friends who has it can I play the game, etc and it never stuck.
Wish PoOT the very best in the future but all my attention, time, and $$$ is going to SoS: AWL
