From budget bass reviewer to a pedalboard worth several thousand dollars...you've made it!
Look mum, I made it!
"several thousand dollars"? do not exaggerate lol
about $2800 US (not including any taxes or shipping)@@ianmcfly31
@@ianmcfly31he is not exaggerating Google them
@@ianmcfly31 buddy, each pedal is $350-$410, the board is $125, +tuner + pickbox that's $2000 total
You and I both know that the Sansamp will be back
Oh that’s in my other rig 😇
I don’t know what it is but I love watching other people build their boards and or/ patches. Super inspiring to try new things that I would’ve never done on my own.
Strange isn’t it?! Hope you enjoyed the video 😊
I am thinking about getting a Rockboard but I did not know they had a board configurator. Very nice.
Really cool!
Honestly ive been using a two notes revolt amp sim for a few months and it's insanely good, a nice option for people with a smaller budget
Is the two notes revolt better than AMPEG SGT- DI?
Hey , that's a nice pedal board, I have also the DCX bass combined with the two notes revolt to pouch the clean sound of the revolt a bit .... I love the bass rig very much !
We love some pounding
I use their cables also but sometimes I need angle them the differently but they stick out quite lot. But you can easily cut of the tops just above the jack. That helps :)
Hi Jonny, Great Rig!
Can you show us what it can do "live" please as I've now seen 100's of videos about "ditching the amp completely" but 99.5% of them have been in a studio?
Cheers.
from my experence if u want to get the amp sound on a live situation completely from a pedalboard, you definitely need a preamp pedal and a cab simulator, better if put an EQ between. Cab sim can influence even more than a preamp pedal, without a cab sim you cant get enough low end punch as the large-sized speaker does, i recommand using an ir loader and then find an ir you like, a cheap one can do well too, just put some time nailing it. Analog cab sims are usually bad since they are just some eqs.
I LOVE your pedal board. I am going the dame way - origin + just the Atlas compressor . I LOVE Rockboards too. And Holey. 👍👍👍👍👍👍💊
Thanks for the content! I use the black panel as my main gigging amp sound in a cover band. I love the fat switch with the bass rolled down a bit which is strange I know. But I think it actually sounds more like an 8x10 in that way somehow? Idk. I love the blend knob too. Lots of great tones from these pedals.
seems all these latest pedal amps are very good, I went with DSM Humboldt Bass Simplifier because of it's dual effects loops, has three outs, and run it into a Hotone 70 watt pedal board amp, use this setup alot to cut back on the tube burn time of my B15 Flip Top rig
Hey - how do you find the Humboldt? Im super interested.
I agree the bassman with the 8x10 sounded the best! Now I'm pretty sure you can get a similar sound with the HXStomp, that would be an interesting video, try to match the tone while getting rid of the preamps
That’d be cool!
@@JonnyDibble That's almost exactly the patch I use for gigs in my HXStomp: Bassman and SVT4 in parallel into the dual cabs of an 8x10 SVT and 1x15 B15. I've never gotten so many compliments from both sound guys and my band mates.
Hx stomp vs Origin Pedalboard - I would love that video 😮
@@xdoctorblindx Just put this together on my stomp with an 810 IR instead of the dual cabs and is definitely my new favourite sound!
Sorry if I am completely wrong, but AFAIK the cab sim is only on the XLR/DI out... So, assuming I am right, you did not dislike the Black Panel's cab sim, you just never heard it.
Did you ever power an actual cabinet with the Ant? If so how did it not only sound but feel? I’m thinking the Ant with either the Ampeg SGT or Ferr Capo? Thanks.
Hey Jonny! Awesome video and board 🙌☮️ apologies if you covered this at some point in the vid but I see the DCX is before the Cali76 on the board, is it routed that way or does compression actually come first?
Just ordered the DCX and am curious about if I should place it before or after my comp (UA 1176).
Thanks, Happy new year ☮️
Hi! The compression comes first 😊 it’s just ordered that way for easier footswitch access. Thank-you HYN!
@@JonnyDibble Gotcha! Sounds great anyway dude, sweet board! 😎
For a second at 18.00 I hoped you were going to play Planet Terror's soundtrack ahaha; btw, great demo as usual, never had the chance to play an Origin Effects pedal but that bassman pre with the 8x10 cab is fire even through my potato pc speakers
I love it haha
I'm planning to buy one, but I'm torn between the SVT and the 64 Black. I can't imagine how it sounds stacking with the Darkglass Alpha Omega Photon and DCX bass, which are my current setup. Or do you think it's too redundant to have an additional bass rig with too much preamp? I'm looking forward to hearing from you as I'm a big fan. Cheers and more power to your channel.
Johnny, great stuff. Just checking out the Rockboard configurator. Got to enter my pedals, since they seem to be a bit odd (Korg Pitchblack+ and Line6 G30). Hope to find the others more quickly.
Just one question - what's this little pedal-sized box for holding the pics and stuff? I'd really be interested in this.
I was looking into such a configuration already. Do you have any experience already with the volume of the ANT on stage?
cheers from Austria. keep up the good work!
I love that super vintage. What strings do you use?
These are just Ernie Balls I believe!
What's your experience of the Ashdown Ant been like for live performances? Does it colour the tone from the other pedals much?
Will you start using this board for all your bass demos? This is really great.
Thank-you! Probably not though, the HX Stomp is middle price point and has everything built in. For consistency too I’ll probably stick with the stomp
Why not choose a pedalboard size that fits the pedal that go on?
Excuse to add more 😇
Can you do a budget version of the pedalboard 😅?. Origin effects does make awesome pedals.
Pbasses made in japan sound great anywhere... and mine is just a Squier.
It’s definitely a high end rig! I’ve got some affordable pedals around, I’ll see what I can do! 😃
What is the the little clear hinged box, please?
I’ve been considering doing something similar for my bass rig, just not sure 200W will have enough volume for my specific needs for stage/rehearsal volume. It’s a very tempting approach though and sounds absolutely fantastic!
It keeps up well at practice! A 500w version would be very welcome though
I've been thinking similar. Warwick gnome is 280w and smaller than the ant - but id probably prefer Ashdown. I'd only use it if I had pa support, so 200w for stage volume would probably be ok. If there was 500w+ version I'd be able to use it for almost any gig
What's the brand of your patch cables? I like the flat profile.
They’re Warwick Rockboard cables! You can order them alongside the board
whats the kick in playing bass withour actually feeling it? unless you CANT play through loudspeakers because you live with people abd play at night, I just may as well practice dry instead of hearing bass but not feeling it 😅
Deffo can’t play very loud at home unfortunately. The ANT is the power amp, so this can be used to power a cab
my jazz bass could be your P bass twin. Creme with Black pickguard!
Twinning!
Nice pedalboard! Just a quick one - I have the Rockboard quad 4.1 with the softcase. Just got asked to do a tour and i'm undecided if I should go with Rockboard's hardcase vs a pelicase style. Any thoughts? Thanks!
The hardcase is great! Depends if you want more space for cables etc I suppose? Not too sure what the Pelicase offers
@@JonnyDibble Thanks for the reply. My main concern is weight really! Pelicase has the wheels also but SERIOUSLY pricey these days
Coooool❤❤❤❤
It is not my conception of bass sound. For me the bass sound is on low frequencies (E.g. Burning Spear bass) and to hear low frequencies you need a loud speaker with LARGE diameter ... but I can understand that for playing heavy metal you can search for a bass sound more like a guitar
The low frequencies are still there!
No more amp! But Ashdown IS amp...
Where's the lunch box to keep your snacks...🥪🧀🍫
That’s what should go in the gap
Ill buy a pedalboard amp when they achieve 300w. 200w just doesn't cut it in a rock band if you wanna be heard. Not all of us get to plug into a main board.
I’d like to see a 500w version!
I don't get why the Ashdown Ant is on the board (yeah I know the idea, it's exactly the same I also did with my board).
Ther are so many preamps, why another one with the Ant? On my board a GSS Baby Sumo does it. A pure 600 watt mono poweramp. Cheaper than the amp, more power and no useless more ways to change the sound (this already are my Eden WTDI and Darkglass AO Photon perfectly doing)
You don’t get it but then explain why it’s there?
@@JonnyDibble I don't get it why another preamp instead of a pure poweramp when there are already a few on the board :)
A $2200+ pedalboard that only has drives is wild. Much better ways to spend that much money…. Like a helix? At least put a chorus pedal on there. You can get a good amount of the sounds you showed with a sansamp for $250
It’s more just a fun combo board of just one brand
You don’t need any of that.
Who would buy so much from one pedal manufacturer? Most pedalboards take time and earnt noney to get together....
Get real
I can’t. I am AI
Teach me to love
You really think musicians can afford those peddles. How much do all those peddles cost ?
He's an expensive pedal peddler!
