Uther vs a Brightwing is cruel. AoE heals vs one a fight is not balanced. But the lack of coordination/ awareness your assassins had in the beginning was where it came apart. Tough but a good showcase of where qm is today
What really killed him was Genji and Maiev versus four mages. Genji is ideal against that sort of backline, and Maiev is also great at securing kills against people trying to run away. The entire match was borked from the word go. Pally did what he could as Uther, but even if they had started winning fights I don't see a way they manage to make up enough ground to actually secure a victory.
How odd it is to see a Medivh that dies all the time and a Maiev that knows what she's doing in a single game .
Every time I think about going back to HotS I watch one of these and give myself credit for occasionally making good life choices. Love ya pally

This is such a good final lap on this game. I've been getting out of playing Blizzard stuff - first there were issues with Apple's OS switches making a lot of Blizzard products stop functioning on them, then all the garbage at Blizzard HQ made me not want to support them anyway - but HotS is something I've been with on and off since the start and Pallytime has always been a big part of how I experience the game; a perspective on it and a chance to see it at a skill level a bit higher than my own, with insightful commentary (and fun sports-announcing) throughout to keep it enjoyable.
Thanks, Pally. Walter. Your HotS coverage - and your channel in general - has been a consistent spot of joy in a bunch of years that really needed more joy.

This game feels like it was rough because of the team comp, not because of your Uther play. You played the hell out of his frontlining! GG
For sure. Though he keeps Q healing himself and using the W as dps. Not only is that nerfing his heals but its also wasting his passive armor buff.
I’d definitely have gone for the holy shock build here instead. When you cast your Q on yourself later game, you get the boosted healing from the level 16, the cast can still be against an enemy for that and if so your cooldown is lowered significantly, opening up your Q again to keep yourself up longer or toss to an ally. This also increases the range of your Q and lowers the mana cost once the level 1 quest is finished. With the holy shock mana refund against enemies your base 75 mana cost is reduced by 40, twice. This means that after completing your level 1 quest, any Q you cast at an enemy actually restores 5 mana. It’s great for spamming as the cooldown is effectively half the usual and with a small mana regain there’s no punishment for spamming it. The enhanced range also allows you to use it as a finisher for enemies running away with a sliver of health over half a screen away.
For Quick Match, especially an assassin fest, you’d probably have performed better overall. With all the benefits of casting your Q on enemies, it even helps your damage against minions since you’ll not be punished as hard for using your cooldown.
He’s made himself one of my mains for QM. I typically only ever play with friends, but even so I’ve gotten my win rate up to nearly 65% with Uther. He’s quite devastating when there’s no frontline on the enemy team and everything is squishy. Your all mage team wasn’t helping, but you’d probably have done more to alleviate that had you done a Q focus instead. Not that it’s your fault or anything, matchmaking wasn’t against you all the way, but I do think the other build would have helped give you a better chance.

I felt like that KT was playing out of his mind, but one mage cannot carry a game, alas.
I miss Uther before his last rework. He actually did damage, and his single heal was massive
Two things I've been thinking as a player that plays him occasionally (as the main healer, usually):
1. A stat on the scoreboard showing how much dmg did you prevent with the Armor buff - I usually take Uther as the main healer and, unless we are stomping the enemy, I often get flamed by teammates, cause my healing numbers are generally lower than the enemy healer's.
2. In lower leagues in Storm League, and often in QM as well I guess, people don't know how to get advantage of Armor. They take some dmg, I heal them, they retreat, Armor does nothing most of the times. So, this is also something that I feel lowers Uther's significance, but I cannot be sure about it, cause we don't have the Damage Prevention stat from Point 1.
Having Holy Shock would have secured a lot of kills this game. It also gives Uther better frontline as he's always healing himself as it halves the cooldown and self heals which gives armor. I almost always take it.

Uther is one of my favorite heroes, but man does he struggle without a proper team comp.
Have played about 2-3k games just as Uther in quick match, and the way I play Uther is about healing up smaller amounts at higher health and preventing further incoming burst damage to yourself and an ally with the armor you get from your trait by spamming my W on as many allies and enemies as I can. This makes Uther really revolve around knowing where best to position in a fight in relation to your allies and foes.
As for Uther's Q, I only ever use that for emergencies when I need to burst someone up due to the long cooldown it has. This sometimes means you have to make the decision of which team member is more valuable and lives and who dies.
E should also only be used when you see something about to happen like a Mosh or a Emerald Winds rather than spamming it on enemies willy-nilly.
For the R I almost always go Divine Shield when front lining, though both are amazing imo. Would go Divine Storm if I don't have a squishy Melee Assassin or have some amazing chain CC potential.
Talent wise I would tend to take Wave of Light at level 1 for the CDR on my W, as well as the .5 seconds of armor for your trait. Because I am always using my W, the CDR means I can heal and keep armor up for longer overall during the game.
Then at 4 I take either Holy Fire for passive damage which also help with wave clear, or Pursuit of Justice for running down a faster foes.
7 Hand of Protection for cleanse.
13 Well Meet for enemy damage reduction.
16 I get Tyr's Diliverance for the extra healing on my W. Will usually get this up to at least 30% before using my W. Benediction is great but I find that I hold onto it too much waiting for the right moment to really get a good use out of it, which leads me to only use it once or twice at critical moments, for better or worse. This talent is also bugged with Uther's W atm.
20 I get Divine Protection for the additional 25 (35 for Uther) armor and .5 second to trait (giving you 50 armor for 3 seconds), but will get Redeption if I have died at least twice in that game.

I’ve been playing -utter- -other- -utter- *uther* a lot recently and I usually pick the W talent at lvl 1, the mana and cd reduction is great to help out with sustain and AOE. Save your Q for saving people, and remember to make use of the armor you grant.

Longball W Li-ming with an Uther frontline is suicide, especially against a Brightwing Bomb style comp like that.
Maiev and Genji dive a mile past as BW teleports in with them, and they get the easy backline kills before Uther can even turn around.
One thing I'm not sure you saw but Well Met also reduces the damage the enemy hero does by 25%.
I'm 65-12-1 now following your builds. Went from one of my worst healers in Tyrande to one of my better ones in Uther. I like this character quite a bit. He's a healer that can waddle up to the front line and not die which is great for people like me that suck at positioning. I've always been iffy on benediction because I never know when to use it and am terrible about using cleanses but at least benediction worked out nicely this time; thanks for the tip about using it on the stun. I had a team with a lot of CC in it with Blaze and Malganis so between the 3 of us we were really able to lock down specific targets which made for easy skillshots for Nova and Nazeebo

im late to the show but stun build assassin Uther vs soft mages was the first time i had a full 17 game win streak. only healed myself basically but could stun lock and kill mages all day

Gotta admit that Blizz nudges you to radiate with small heals and resets as much as possible with Uther if you take some research time for his talent synergy with his AA for mana regen at lvl 1. Is it good? Not really perfect, however, if players tend to leave some minions for you to smack nearby then Uther can shine like no other healer, besides Tyrande. Battle Healers unite!

I like Uther so much. But he's just so bad for solo QM. The pain in this video hits me right in the gut. Even worse is that most people do not understand Uther's kit and mechanics, and they are so mean (even while they eat as much damage as they can, provide no stun follow up, and clear no waves).
When your team is 2/5 the potato, it will be a hard game. You have so much meta knowledge that allows you to be strategic but that isn't most. No obj, then soak and camps. Grouped as 4 over nothing? Split and soak.
I get why Pally does QM, but it obviously affects the games we get sometimes, and that kinda sucks. Couldn't pay me to play QM

Same. I uninstalled the game. I enjoy the content, which is a kudos to Pally that I watch a game I don’t play. But the player base is awful. Pallys videos brought me back once… but I can’t do it again.

I've spent one week delving into League (because of your videos btw) and watching this...has not really made me regret uninstalling HOTS. It was fun while it lasted boys. Lots of great memories in this game, but yikes, that was tough to watch and I absolutely feel validated by experiencing your pain in a very familiar second hand way.
I think imma stick with Riot's game for while.

Omg man, you really tried to do your best, but your team is a band of amoebas. Zero map awarness, leaving freaking Uther on the lane, no followup [until somehow KT figured out what followup is]...

I guess this one is one of those games that you should bring your friends with. Uther falls to this odd type of heroes, who are next to unplayable without team coordination and in generic teamcomb. I often play Greymane with my one pal as Uther, and another as Stitches and we just decimate. The Uther player of my team complains that Uther is impossible to play in solo-queue for the very reason you pointed out. Solo-queue uther in QM often needs to be tank, healer and laner at the same time.
Maybe this is a hot take, but i never pick disintegrate with her because she has to stay still when casting it

I'm gonna be honest: The first 10 minutes of this video is why I don't like cursed hollow. I don't know what comes over people, but coordination, map pinging, and team assistance are literally 0 on this map; people who are normally functional players stop working, game.exe shuts down, and they just stop helping.
I guess the rotations are risky enough and the distances long enough that this triggers whatever internal calculus people use to decide to help-but it's *miserable* if you can't do good PvE *and* escape ganks against a more mobile team. Top is the worst, but I've seen bottom fall as well.
